매번 포스팅을 할 때마다 고민이 많았었는데,
신년에는 그 마음의 '짐'을 조금 덜어보기로 했습니다.
중요한건 저의 코멘트보다는 음악 그 '자체' 일테니까요.

요즘 저와 띠동갑(ㄷㄷ;)에 가까운 아티스트들의 약진이 두드러지는 것 같습니다.
(물론 띠동갑이라면 핵인싸 빌리 아일리시가 더 가깝긴 하지만..)
- 개인적 감상평
인트로를 듣자마자 '좋다..' 라고 생각이 들었던 곡 중 한 곡입니다. 인트로의 기타소리와 드럼비트만 듣고도 이미 좋다는 생각이 들었었는데, 이어서 클레어의 가녀린 목소리가 'Every second counts..'라고 읊조리듯 노래를 시작하니.. 이미 저의 손가락은 좋아요와 (재생목록에) 저장 버튼을 누르고 있었습니다. ^^; 곡이 진행되면서 차곡 차곡 쌓이는 악기의 층들이 듣는이로 하여금 감상하는 재미를 갖게 해주는 곡인 것 같습니다. 1:15에 등장하는 일렉기타 사운드라던가, 1:35에 등장하는 피아노 샘플링은 자칫 지루해질 수 있는 곡에 신선함을 더해주는 숨은 요소입니다. ^^ 지루하지 않은, 하지만 너무 지나치지도 않은 미니멀한 악기편성과 곡구성은 요즘 서서히 인기를 더해가는 '베드룸 팝'의 느낌을 제대로 살리고 있습니다.

Claire E. Cottrill (born August 18, 1998), known professionally as Clairo, is an American singer-songwriter. Her fame escalated after releasing "Pretty Girl" (2017), a lo-fi-produced song that attracted over 45 million views on YouTube. She attributed the interest in the video to the website's algorithm system. Her professional debut was with the EP Diary 001 (2018), followed by the LP Immunity (2019).
Claire was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of marketing executive Geoff Cottrill, and grew up in Carlisle, Massachusetts. At the age of 13, she taught herself guitar from Internet tutorials, after which she began posting music to Bandcamp and SoundCloud, and maintained a YouTube channel where she posted covers and short films.
After the popularity of "Pretty Girl", Clairo signed a record contract with the help of her family's connections with The Fader magazine. Her presentation of herself as a "do-it-yourself" artist was questioned amid some online controversy,which included her being labelled an "industry plant". She referred to the criticism as sexist.

98년생이라는 나이가 믿기지 않을 정도로
뛰어난 음악성을 보여주고 있는 Clairo..
고등학생때부터 사운드클라우드 등에서 본인의 작업물을 꾸준히 업로드하며 인지도를 쌓다가,
Pretty Girl <- 이 곡이 유튜브에서 큰 인기를 끌면서 포텐을 터트렸습니다. ^^
이후 음반사와 계약을 맺고 본격적인 음악작업에 돌입했고,
몇 번의 EP 발매 후 2019년 드디어 첫 데뷔 앨범 'Immunity'까지 발매하게 되었습니다.
(그중에서도 타이틀곡 Bags는 피치포크를 비롯한 유수의 비평가/매체 로부터 좋은 평가와 관심을 받기도 했습니다.)
2019-2020년을 기준으로,
미래가 촉망받는 젊은(또는 어린) 여성 뮤지션 두 명을 꼽아보라면,
메이저(팝) 쪽에서는 '빌리 아일리시'를,
인디 쪽에서는 '클레어오' 를 언급할 것 같습니다. ^^

첫 앨범 발매 전이긴 했지만,
공연을 못보러간 것이 살짝 아쉽게 느껴지네요.
