RE: Investing on Hive (Sidechains) Post 9: Thoughts On Tags?

in #leofinance3 years ago

Every author has their own reasons for using their tags. Others, also copy and paste tags they see from other authors without knowing what it is for - I see this mostly from those who are new to Hive.

The good thing about tags is it will enable you to earn those tagged tokens. The bad thing happening is, there are people who intentionally abuse this feature. This leaves a negative impression on using tags improperly.

Now, since you asked, I am seeing that your article as financial in nature. Tags like STEM, SPLINTERLANDS, and the ONEUP tags doesn't "exactly fit" the content of your article. For example, ONEUP tag is suited for gaming related content while STEM is also suited for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math related contents.

Btw, I also see that you've upvoted your own post:

I checked your previous post and you did the same.
While some don't mind it, some people consider this as a selfish and greedy act.

So, should you continue using the tags like this and or upvoting your own post?
It's all up to you. Just don't be surprised if someone will disagree with you. 🙂

I understand that, I appreciate the input and I will try to be mindful of others when I do see them having an issue with tags. I can still earn plenty from not tagging and still continuing to vote and curate content so I have no qualms with ultimately removing them should enough voice their opposition to it or threaten negative consequences against me for my actions. For now it seems to be alright and I'm not spamming multiple posts a day or commenting wildly or anything so I think I'll be alright. I do intend to post about playing the games I invest in as well so would you think it'd be good to keep the financial posts separate, tag them with financial tags, and then make a 2nd post a day about gaming and other activities and then tag them accordingly?

I get your point about self-voting but we are supposed to be our own biggest supporters after all. :P I only post once a day and my voting is most definitely above 88%~ for others and the support I can give them. I know it's not always shown directly and up-front, but if you take a little look behind the scenes you can somewhat see what someone's intentions are.

As you can see, I vote other posts I find interesting or alluring quite excessively haha. Sometimes it drains my voting power immensely. :P I also do NOT vote my comments no matter how many I make, except once in a blue moon if I'm maybe trying to push a 0.02~ a little higher so that it reaches what it needs to actually give value. This ensures there is a bit of curation for whoever voted but didn't reach threshold and yes, it does give me a little bit of value where it would otherwise be lost. I don't claim to never self vote but from what I can observe as I've been finding out different social mannerisms that take place here, as long as I'm not trying to milk the earnings by posting utter bullshit and I'm not purely upvoting everything I do and actually spreading some support to others, I should be alright. It's another spot where I'm also open to just not doing it, as if it offends enough people or they see it as poor behavior, I'd rather be respectful and not step on toes. :)

Thank you for the input! I do seek to maximize my earnings here, yes. I do not wish to do it in such a way that it offends people, no. I have tried to keep my posts to a minimum instead of breaking them down into multiple as I could considering I am discussing many different investments. I want to consolidate my posting as much as possible and focus more on curation and commenting and engaging other people in conversations on both my posts and theirs. I'm glad to be getting some responses so it already feels very gratifying. I appreciate you taking the time to comment!

You can see, even when I do self vote, I tend to prioritize using the higher vote power and rewards, for other posts I enjoyed or liked seeing first, and then I vote myself after I've assigned a slight bit of greater value to others. :P
