This is definitely an unexpressive loss for your friend's kid and wife. It is really sad to see something like this but in one way it will teach a big lesson for our life that we are also not permanent in this world. It will let us explore the purpose of our life. For me the same feeling and realization started when my uncle passed away in a young age. I personally have also had near death experiences and that has always given me a thought that this life that I possess right now is a gift and that too for a good cause. I lead my life with that thought always in my mind.
