I never sought for food when I am bored or feeling a tad sad. For me I have been smoking pot for a long time to keep myself going (through highschool). So I can relate to the feeling of a daily routine giving the need to suppress, whether it be food, physical activity or a jongo. One is healthier than the other though ^^
But like you said, it's better to free yourself by doing something different and breaking that feeling of boredom or daily routine you got stuck in.
