Green egg happiness! The perfect destress device. Meat and vegetables!

in #life8 years ago (edited)

It's not often I buy something that I am so happy with as I am with my Green Egg.

My friend Serge was 100% right when he told me I would be 4 months ago.

I remember it very well.

He said, 'when do you think it's the right time to buy such a device? When are you 40 years old? or 50? or when you are in your golden years? You love grilling so why not give yourself this.'

He said, 'Mark. Life is for living. And that is today.'

I still waited another 4 months because it's not in my nature to just buy expensive things. The recent rise in crypto pushed me over the edge. Now or never.

I have used it every day since I got it. I have realized there is more to it than cooking with it. It also has the power to destress me after a day of work.

I checked the weather all day today. It was raining. But at 19:30 it would stop! Such Luck!

I went to the normal supermarket this time to see what they had. For some reason, supermarkets hate fat on their meat. I don't know why. I started to dig.

The green egg is very efficient with coals. This is grill session number 3 on the same batch.

I found two nice marbles pieces and one ribeye that looked rather lean. But beggers can't be choosers.

I have made grilled vegetables on the egg a couple of days ago and it was delicious. I decided to do the same again. Eggplant with quality olive oil and sea salt.

Bianca took this shot two days ago. But it gives an impression of the vegetables.

I shared a new nice Bourbon barrel aged beer with my dad (he's going up North tomorrow). He said it was one of the most special beers he ever tasted.

The end result. Rice and beans we always seem to have somewhere. It's the national food of Brasil. The meat was delicious and the vegetables perfectly grilled with an extra splash of olive oil.

You are definitely getting your moneys worth! :) I agree 100% with Serge on his advice, life is so short, if there's something you're passionate about and brings you so much joy, you need to get it. I think so many of us always put off that trip or item we'd like to buy b/c we're programmed into thinking it's irresponsible to do it now, that we must save for our retirement and do the "responsible" thing. Later ends up being never for so many of us. You've inspired me, I'm going to write another post now, lol. :)

Serge is on Steem too. @s3rg3. It's his saying!

Ok I'm officially starving! That looks amazing, looks like you use a hardwood lump charcoal?

I like your food blogs almost as much as I like your steemit blogs exyle. I love my Weber, but I might need to check into the Green Egg. How does it continue to use the same charcoal over again? By the way, your friend and your dad are cool dudes!

He man, that's really nice of your to say. I have used a Weber for years, they are awesome grills too. I think it's because the egg is ready to grill before all coals are on. within 30 minutes it's 250C (or more depending on airflow). After cooking you cut off all the air and lots of coals are saved. I do think I'll have to refill it today.

I really like the Idea I 'm adding the value of life to your life by just explaining my view on things. Life is for living right?! Man, I love it when people appreciate the better things in life. Enjoy man!

Thank you man, I'm enjoying it every day!

Great to see the Green Egg in action again this week!

As others have said, that last photo also sent me to the kitchen pronto!

Have a good evening digesting your meal with perhaps, a beer or two to wash it down 😁

I shared one bourbon barrel aged beer with the old man.

The more I see the food you make, the more I hope to tast it. Maybe in august when I am in Rotterdam?

Of course!

We have a deal!

Sounds like a great barbecue party you had! I just looked up the price of the big green egg and it retails at £1,210 at John Lewis!! That is an investment but I am sure it is well worth it :)

It sure is an investment. But it suppose to last for 30 years!

From what I've read, you are not a beggar. But I understand the feeling! I am now going shopping for my own green egg. Thanks for the inspiration!

Good see you finished cleaning already and making great use of the green egg, I'm def getting one once I cash out my ETH!!!

Flavorizer! Coal Grills are always the best ~ Delicious Vibes Received...

You really have me considering buying one of these things. You should get commission for these posts. Always yielding some amazing results

Sorry my friend, saw the last photo and went for a snack. You're killing me!!!

Life for living . you look awesome i like your steemit blog @ exyle. Your faimly and friendz very lovly i like your post great sir

Looks awesome, again!

thanks, bud!

The worst thing about this post is - and don't get me wrong, it is one excellent post @exyle - my mouth started to water at those pictures. I can almost feel the aroma of coals burning, hear the sizzle of the meat when being dropped at first. Add a cold beer later and some off time and I'm sold!
Have a great day!

Haha, I have this problem too when I see food pictures. You have a great day as well man!

Ah yes, we always tend to live towards 'later' while NOW is the best thing to enjoy !

Yeah, that is so true!

Is the green egg's shell metallic?

The end result looks delicious. YUMMY!

'Life is for living. And that is today.' You won upvote righ there.

I'm hungry now...

Everything looks perfect :-)

The food looks insanely delicious.. you made me hungry...

I want it (final dish not your green egg lol).

looks good

Very delicious and delicious, you are versatile. Good job.

The egg does a great job from the looks the food looks so tasty and now I am hungry

Great to see the weather was in your favour haha.
Some amazing food.
I'm so hungry now :)

I agree 100%.

BGE + meat + cold beverage = Stress Relief

If you reverse sear the meat first. There's even less stress. The second time you cook it, you are just putting a sear on the outside.

Looks like a great meal! My kind of food. Happy cooking with your green egg :)

Does it Steem?

Most people don't realize how versatile green eggs are. You can cook just about anything in there if you learn the technique. It's secret is temperature control. Glad you're getting the most from it!

Looks good, sorry I missed the feast. I am following you now so I don't miss out.

Now... I'm hungry! That ribeye looks amazing! Thanks for sharing!
