My father owned a jewelry store many decades ago in Hong Kong, and before that, in Shanghai, so, I have witnessed the changes that impacted his business in a few short years and the consequences of not watch out for them. He did not adapt at all and was "washed out" so to speak - very sad ...

Absolutely. They are not closing down because they did not learn from their mistakes but more for being set in their old ways not being relevant to what the people wanted.
