hi everybody! I did´t think that my first post would start with such a shameful video, but I can´t close my eyes to the fact that the people destroy the planet. it´s a river full of plastic in guatemala. I recently watched it and almost started to cry.
it´s not the first time I realize that we must develop a different consumer behavior, otherwise our children won´t get children because there is no world to live in anymore. we have to change our habits – daily, eating, transportation – there are many ways to get started.
in berlin for example there is a store called ‘Original Unverpackt’ (originally unpacked) where you shop without disposable packaging. you bring your own vessels, fill them, weigh & pay. let´s hope that there will be more shops in the future.
and if you feel like spending money (think twice before) try to buy at least sustainable stuff or even made of waste.
like for example:
lamp by Quercus
this is a sustainable lamp, made from waste. every component has been selected to allow the lamp to be fully disassembled and recycled, or parts replaced where necessary. the wood is sourced from naturally fallen trees and the lampshade is made of a waste wine bottle collected from a restaurant.
stool by KaCaMa Design Lab
Stool Zero: crown stool seat is made of fan covers that come from the st james settlement recycle centre. the seat material are electric wires that wrap the fan covers for comfort and stability. stool legs are wooden crates from abandoned freight crates.
apparel basics by Arvin
recover - return – repeat: they are recovering recycled used clothing, fabrics, and textile scraps, what means that they don’t rely on water and energy dependent cotton farms or production facilities. they return all recycled clothing and fabrics to yarn, combine these recovered fabric yarns with other recycled or responsibly sourced yarns. and they do it again and again. wear your socks, donate them back to them, and the loop continues.
thanks for reading, caring and thinking:)

bad or good , it all start from us. Great post!!
yeah, that´s what i think too. it´s always easy to say "it´s so far away" but if you look around you see things go wrong in your direct environment
yes truee
thats a great idea! hope you make lots of money!
thank you! not the money but being heard is the important thing! then the money comes by itself i think. if we support each other we will all have a great opportunity here on steemit
yess lets go together
Yes I agree with you gulsch , did you like my last art post? what you think ???
which one? market defaulted?
ahhh the last post indiffrence : )
the answer is under your post:)
I really like this approach of upcycling waste to new things. Prolonging the life of any element is a sustainable act and well woth doing. Upcycling also used way sell energy than recycling.
Did you film the video? Where is that terribly polluted river?
me too, it takes a bit more time then just buying your stuff but as you say, it´s well worth doing!
no i did´t film it myself. i watched it on facebook i think. the video was originally uploaded by https://www.genesisguatemala.org/, an nonprofit project that provides kids in guatemala with educational support and health services. but i couldn´t find the video there, so i took one of youtube.
it´s the motagua river in guatemala - only sad to see what we are doing. and of course that river flows somewhere. and that´s the next challenge:
