In such cold days, you must have reduced your daily activities especially the ones that involve going outside and moving a muscle. That, topped off with ever growing need to eat more for no reason, makes up for a very good case of a digestion booboo.
Not to worry though because we have 6 home remedies that you can try out using off-the-shelf stuff from the kitchen to fix that embarrassing gas build up or that pain you’ve been having in your tummy.
⦁ Garlic
Being naturally antibiotic and anti-inflammatory in nature, Garlic is one of nature’s finest gifts to mankind, besides Garlic bread (yum), when it comes to getting rid of that heartburn. Other than that, consuming food with Garlic is also a great way to get relief from stomach gas which usually leaves you in an embarrassing situation .
It has the ability to enhance digestion and improve the food-breakdown process. Some people also claim that Garlic solves their nausea so if you’re one of those people who feel like throwing up, especially while traveling, you know just the thing to eat!
⦁ Ginger
Containing something called gingerol, Ginger is another one of nature’s gifts when it comes to alleviating digestive issues. Having the ability to boost your overall digestion, it can also get rid of nausea even better than Garlic in some cases. You can consume Ginger by drinking some Ginger tea daily or by adding a few teaspoons of Ginger juice in a glass of Lemon Juice.
Bonus tip: If you have a blood sugar thing going on, you might want to consider increasing your Ginger intake.
⦁ Milk
Milk, also known as “nature’s energy drink”, is one the most common home remedies to get rid of heartburn. Fat-free milk works even better as it acts as a buffer for your stomach acid.
If you can’t find fat-free milk, try looking if you have some low-fat milk lying around because that works just as well. Its tasty, strengthens your bones and teeth, boosts your energy and does a good job of killing that heartburn, what more could one ask for!
- Yogurt
Yogurt? But you just said Milk. Yes, I know I said milk as well but yogurt is even better. In a case of constipation and your stomach has taken Gandalf’s orders too seriously (“You shall not pass”), yogurt is the way to go. Even if you have diarrhea, don’t give up on yogurt yet because the bacteria (don’t worry, they’re the good guys) inside yogurt is very beneficial for your guts.
Try to consume home-made yogurt because it’s free of artificial sugars and any form of preservatives. If you can’t manage that at home then just look for some brand of yogurt that is sugar-free and has no artificial sugars listed in the ingredients table.
⦁ Honey
Honey other than being the cure to many much more serious diseases, works like a charm when it comes to improving digestion. It contains antioxidants and is anti-inflammatory in nature as well. According to a study, digestive inflammation in 85% of the people was fixed due to honey.
Even though the science behind how honey does what it does is inconclusive, needless to say that honey is one of those home remedies that you actually enjoy eating (I’m pointing towards you Garlic and Ginger).
⦁ Peppermint
With that minty cool taste, peppermint is a popular item in our foods. It is full of menthol oil and is also anti-spasmodic, which is just a fancy way of saying that it helps your digestive tract muscles. Peppermint soothes the muscles and the muscles make sure that the food is passed along properly. Because of this property, peppermint is a very good cure for flatulence.
Whether you have gas, indigestion, bloating or just pain, peppermint should be one of your go-to solutions for these problems. It can be consumed in many forms including peppermint tea, chewing solid peppermint leaves, adding peppermint to milkshakes and adding peppermint oil to other flavors of tea.
So now you know what to do when you feel like something is just not right in your stomach. Why have to choose between pizza and fried chicken? Eat them both but use these remedies too. if you are having digestive problem then buckle up, hit the kitchen and look for these things. And if you can’t find them, just ask your mother. And if you’re lucky enough to be spared from these issues, keep these remedies in mind so that the next time something happens to your digestive system, you will know just what to do!
Wow beautiful. thank you for the advices
Really need to get away from pharmaceutical
I know that ginger and honey are very useful even if they drink alone.
Thank you.
Some great natural suggestions in respects to digestion issues, also it would be worth mentioning things like gluten which are known to severally damage your digestion system if you have a particular intolerance for that. (many people do, but it is undiagnosed)
It is worthwhile removing things like that, as well as introducing things that are mentioned above, as both can help a lot :-)
Interesting. . I'm a huge fan of garlic and ginger, they have alot of benefits and what interests me more is their ability to aid in weight loss. Its amazing!

Hi I,m quite new here and I'm very happy I just have found your post. Like topic healfy lifestyle that's why I have a few comments. I heard milk isn't good for adult people... but I love to drink it hot with butter and honey when it's cold outside and I have this luck to be in my cozy bed. Is that way of drinking it also good for U? How you make your own yogurt? I've never tried but it sounds interesting. I just love te with ginger and lemonade! Also I cannot imagine myself the dinner without garlic in dishes. It's not only healthy but give the taste value to every meat and soup. Love this post and invite to mine ;-) hugs bye xx

Thanks for this post! I was diagnosed with cancer early 2017, so I've been looking for more natural ways to deal with digestion as well as my overall health. This is very helpful info!
You really think milk ?
Designer milk ? For a calf, they gain a lot of weight quick ! Hmm
Milk is for babies . ;) why are we the only mammals that still drink milk as an adult ?
Mother Nature > why do some people stop producing lactase , Do you think this is genetically programmed event?
59 bioactive hormones ?
Growth hormones ?
Antibiotics ?
Pasteurized ! High heat?
Not acidic ?
Is there vitamin D ? Cow must be outside the sun and naturally grazing
Not fed GMO grains.
Goats milk closer resembles human milk.
Natural homogenized
Fat is easier to digest
More likely a happier animal ;)
100 % coconut milk yum!!
Just trying to get some interaction somewhere
We shouldn't be judged for our questions ;)
