DON'T THROW THAT AWAY! Food waste is a huge problem in the world. Why is it, That people are starving in some areas. And in others we are fat and unhealthy, Throwing everything away?
Here are some tips to help you avoid wasting food, It will be good for your wallet and better for the world we live in.
Once A Month Shopping
We shop obsessively. We run to the store for "last minute" ingredients.
But what if you shopped only at the end of each month?
You wrote a detailed list; Then you only shopped once per month. That would make a BIG difference!
At first, you may over or under buy. But you'll get the hang of it. And at the end of the month, you'll be scraping by and eating the last of your food ensuring that nothing goes to waste.
Keep track of your fruits and vegetable
Produce can be a pain in the butt. It goes bad fast, And then your forced to throw it away.
Mark it on your calendar if you have to! To ensure that you will never waste. Eat things in order, so you don't have to "hurry" before things spoil.
One week- Grapes and bananas
Two week- Pears Lettuce, Cucumbers and peppers.
Three week - Apples, Cabbage, Radishes, Oranges, and celery
- Bread, Cheese, and milk can all be frozen if you don't use it in time.
Shredded cheese is best for freezing.
Most food can easily be frozen when it's about to go bad! This will prevent you from wasting it!
I always throw my leftover pizza in the freezer! Because I know I won't be able to eat all of it in time. Like Dominos or Papa Johns. Then I can easy microwave it, and while it's not crispy anymore, It still tastes pretty good.
You can always throw it in the oven to get it crispy.
Keep A Mini "Eat Now" Box in the fridge.
I've seen this around lately.
Just make a box, and put everything that might perish soon in it. This will remind you that it needs to be eaten. Force yourself to look at the mini boxes contents before you go to prepare your meal.
Conclusion
Throwing away food, Is throwing away money. You can save a lot of money by not wasting.

Thank you @elyaque for the awesome Badges!
Denmark is doing something rather revolutionary on the matter. At the end of the day they offer restaurant leftovers at discount prices.
The country where unwanted Food is selling out
Wow I love that! America really needs to get on board with this kind of stuff.
Never gonna happen. When I used to work at my university's dinner we used to throw a lot of food away. Some good samaritan from there, a supervisor, decided to hand at some point some to charities and the church.
2 weeks later the university was sued for food poisoning and paid more than 250.000 in damages. America literally commits suicide with this kind of issues since the legal system is so messed up.
True :(
We would have to fix a lot before we could do something like that.
very good post! i'm always concerned about the food waste. also, you can reuse your leftovers in new recipes
I LOVE This ! You totally can.
Alternatively You could have a cute little pet pot belly pig that eats your food that is going bad. Just a thought.
Aww what a cutie! Definitely! Piggy should get the food :)
Hard working pig has to get back to work cleaning the fridge...
Your really making me want a pet piggie! hehe
Excellent advice!
Thank you:)
Thank you.
No problem :)
Dogs (or pets) also help with this! They have a stronger stomach than us and can eat things like raw meat. Save some money on their food by giving them healthy scraps and just compost the rest.
True! I agree with @ramengirl that maybe be careful on the amount. We sometimes give our dogs the pans when we are done, and they lick the pan for us. Usually stuff like leftover mashed potatoes. So that helps us save time and water on washing dishes before they end up in the dishwasher haha.
Yes agreed. My pups mostly get leftover veggies and meat.
It's not bad for their body too 0.0?
Good post and excellent advice!
Excellent work! I throw food waste separately in organic pit But unfortunately in our country the problem with this issue!
Great post spreading awareness! Lots of good info keep up the good work :)
This is so thoughtful, a brilliant post. In a country where I live , we have a lot of stray animals that are hungry and most people don't care about it . And sometimes having excess food at home can be inevitable since we don't always measure n cook /eat .In that case its always advisable to feed it to those stray animals if ones country has stray animals roaming free. I have some stray animals that i feed everyday and trust me no food is ever wasted at my place.
An old pic may be a year n a half old
You can never measure everything with money always. And the gratitude that these poor animals show towards you is something that money can't buy. I up voted your post and following you now. Thanks!!!
Very good post! :)
Having more money is not accomplished simply by making new money... it is as much about finding money you already have. I have hens that eat my failing veggies and in return they give me eggs...win win lol
Great advise, thanks. I'm am currently trying to find new ways to avoiding food waste, so I'm definitely trying some of your tips :)
I hate wasting food, too. I actually shop every week, but I plan the meals for the upcoming week. Now you might laugh first, but I look at the weather forcast, cuz who wants to eat a hot stew on a hot day and vice versa a salad when it is freezing cold. What is new for me in your post, the eat me now box. Pretty cool idea! I will steal it if you don't mind 😉
Hi @kaylinart, food waste is not the problem in the world. It is the people who waste the food that are the problem. We are learning to cut down on our food waste by using every bit of what we buy. When we buy fish we save the bones, head and tail to make fish stock. We do the same with peels from carrots (after giving them a good scrub before peeling). We buy whole chicken and take out the breast meat, take off the wings and the thighs. The breasts, wings, thigh are enough to make three or more different meals. Again, we save the left over bones to make a chicken stock. We not only try to make use of as much as we can but at the same time we save a lot of money as opposed to buying butchered pre-packed chicken parts. Fortunately my family are not fussy eaters so all the bits and pieces go into the freezer until they are needed.
So true. It is possible to cook well and conserve at the same time!
Hello, very good suggestions.
frozen my strawberries yesterday when I saw the first sign of mold.
