Things That Will NEVER Make You Happy!

We always assume these things will make us happy, But the reality is, They won't.

The People Around You

If you think that the people around you will determine how happy you are, You are only right to an extent.
While you are a sum of the five people, you spend the most time with, And you can influence your happiness by keeping toxic people away.

The people around you are NOT responsible for your happiness!
Besides no one can live up to your expectations. Or do the things you want them to do.

Money

Your next paycheck, Your next purchase. Are things that can make you TEMPORARILY HAPPY. But eventually your happiness will die down, and you'll require that constant "fix" to maintain that happiness. And if anything were to happen like you losing your job, Or you buying everything you could want. You won't be happy anymore.

Stuff

Ever heard of the "bright shiny object" Syndrome? It's easy to be really happy when you get something new! But once that initial joy fades away, You will feel unhappy again. That new item you got may collect dust somewhere.

External Factors

This is a very general idea, Which can be broken into many separate parts. We tend to base happiness on what is happening in our lives on the OUTSIDE. But if we do this, We will never be happy, Because something will always be wrong.

I"m not saying if a family member passes or of something horrific happens to you, You should immediately put a smile on your face and move on, But if you are consistently unhappy, it may be somethings that are going on on the INSIDE. Not the out.

Happiness is YOUR Responsibility. Not the responsibility of your girlfriend/boyfriend, Not the responsibility of your employer.

@molokwu

Thank you :) I'm checking out your stuff now ;)

Happiness, in many instances, is simply a ratio of expectations vs results.

A person expects certain things from their inner circle of people and when they let you down, you're likely unhappy.

You put a coin in a vending machine and it fails to deliver your soda, you're likely unhappy.

If a person is consistently unhappy, they need to reevaluate their expectations.

Nice article.

Yes, I agree. Nothing and no person outside yourself will ever make you happy. Happy the man findeth wisdom, and the man getteth understanding.

Exactly! Happiness comes from within!

Completely agreed the point that you are making....for me cuddling my dog after coming back from office makes me feel happiest :)

Aww ! I can relate! Hehe petting my rabbits makes me feel the same way.

I realized money isn't everything. Once we have it we struggle to keep up and we will never feel like its enough. we are in a constant battle with ourselves trying to get it higher and higher. Money isn't everything. Great post, Just followed you kaylin :)

weeeell.. that didn't help my depression

Aww! I'm sorry :(
You could try to practice these things overtime, They may help your depressioin! I know that it's a lot more complicated than that to "fix" the problem. But these can be used as coping strategies.

Haha it's okay, somehow I got used to it :)

Regarding #stuff, don't forget:

Totally agree ...though enough money to survive is important

Nice post. We are responsible for our own happiness. Mainly determined by how we get up after life throws us a curve ball.

NICE PHOTO!Is a good snapshot keeps a moment!

Thank you for your awesome Post.

Happiness is always a difficult thing to fully grasp and understand.

Love the message. This is true. And its not only your own responsibility..Its imo the highest moral standard - to be happy. Its more or less a choice you make.

You are right, many times we believe that when we have a partner, when we have more money or when we get some object we will be happy, and the truth is that being happy is totally our responsibility .. knowing how to live with ourselves and accept ourselves is the real key!

Bad responsible that also never make us happy

Excellent post!

Couple days ago I wrote a post with similar subject.
Sometimes it takes a while to see how happy we are actually.
Love your post @kaylinart!

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you! Of course money don't make you happier if you are doing okay, but if you are poor you would most definitely be happier if someone gave you some more money. And stuff also makes you happier, but not unnecessary things ofc. But I feel so good when I buy a new nailpolish, haha. And you need some stuff to be happy! Maybe a car or a phone or something, but everyone needs some stuff.

Interesting and very good post. Thanks Upvoted.

Hapiness.... if you're looking for it you don't see what you can just be instantly. It is not a matter of circumstances as you stated! Thumbs up!

Muy bueno, lo mas difícil es llevarlo a la practica pero es lo único necesario para ver un cambio en instante.

Great post! I've been given so much my being happy and passing it on is my gift back.

hahaha, It is a signal

I think I could be happier having LESS stuff. too much stuff just clutters my space and leaves me feeling enclosed and stifled.

Only YOU have the power to make yourself happy

Really agree nice post

Yes, happiness is a choice!

You are so correct.

Totally agree! Very nice post. I think people are stuck with materialism as a way to ease pain. For some it's to attract(show off) the opposite sex (mostly men). With that being said...why does women care for cars so much??? Can you enlighten me? I personally drive a beater(better off because I live in Los Angeles) but I love it because it takes me from point A to point B no problem! Even if I could afford a really nice car it will definitely not be the first thing to get on my list. They are just things. To me, freedom and health is on top of my list :-)

I look at money as one of the keys to freedom, when you are free from chasing that next paycheck, when you wake up every day doing whatever you want you are free. One of the tools you need to reach this goal is money. Do not chase money, chase freedom. If you do the money will come by itself.
