What? Why Would you want to do that? Here's why.
I've been exhausted lately. I've been doing a workload I felt was impossible.
- Four posts a day
- Making, Uploading and researching 20 shirts a day.
Sure it's possible to pull it off. But It's been getting tiring doing this seven days a week.
Yesterday I took a day off, and it was great, but I still feel like I need a bit more time off.
According to the Urban Dictionary
half fast
Doing a job in half the time, it takes to do it fast.
My teenage son ironed his shirt in two minutes, and he did a real half fast job.

So I'm doing things Half-fast!
Why Is this frowned upon?
WE have created a society based on perfection!
Sure, Quality is VERY important. But sometimes we take it too far.
When we focus on perfectionism, we often fail. Because we can't balance everything, Things start to fall apart. And we beat ourselves up, hence causing more failure. We then become so pained and overwhelmed we throw in the towel. We give up right before things were about to take off for us!
Consistency Is important
What does Consistency have to do with doing things half fast? When you do things half fast, You are STILL DOING THEM! Except your more focused on quantity over quality.
You can get more done in the day, Plus doing things consistency will help you practice and build up positive habits.
I Need A Break, Without Losing The Benefits!
The T-Shirts are what I'm half fasting today; I already have some gorgeous, high-quality designs on my computer. I'm going to upload them fast, Only doing the title. No research all. Just a basic title! Surprisingly Researching is the most time-consuming part of my Tee business!
It's scary though because as I go up in tiers, I'll have to do more and more work. So me taking a day off makes the work "pile" up. But I know when it gets closer to the holidays, They'll cut back how many I can upload per day, So by being Half fast, and make sure I still upload the 20 I'm using up more slots so during the holiday season I'll have more chances to sell.
Half Fasting Is Sometimes the BEST Way to go!
Sometimes we overthink projects and tasks to the point it's overworked, and it looks awful. Sometimes just rushing through something creates better results!
Because you don't have time to over think it, I sometimes have this problem when I draw portraits. I overthink it, I erase over and over again, And eventually, I wear down the fibers of the paper. And the result looks ugly!
Half fasting allows you to get at least SOME of the benefits without losing out completely! Sometimes we have opportunities, and we need to get our hands in there quickly, Without investing too much time or money. Half fasting is a technique we can use to sometimes give ourselves a nice break, Without missing out on too many opportunities.
It also forces us to ignore any requirement we may have to be "perfect".

Thank you :)
How much did you earn for the vote? It costs $2, right?
Yeah, well this is my half fast comment! ;-)
LMAO thank you XD YOu are so funny hehe.
Excellent thoughts @kaylinart, in the tech world I often hear references to this general idea as building an MVP. MVP stands for Minimum Viable Product. Often times, shipping something that works rather than taking a really long time to polish is a better option because you can get feedback and iterate quickly on that feedback.
Reminds me of this illustration
Wow!! Smart comment :) hehe! I totally get what you are saying! I agree with you! I'm mostly refering to small things in this post, Like household chores, Or in my case uploading my already polished designs (Without keywords and research done on them) .
Definitely, I totally get it :) Sorry I was applying it to things that I think about on a daily basis. More on a larger project scale. But they can be applied to anything. The amount of times I clean the house to a pristine shine and then watch our kids spill crumbs all over the floor minutes later ... half fast is totally acceptable!
Its fine heheh :) Exactly! Kids mess things up so fast, A perfect clean may not be possible all the time.
You are totally right. You must implement time to breath in your busy day. Nice post!
Exactly :)
Got to show up to Blow up :)
Exactly hehe :)
Yes, quantity and quality must be balanced, and with the goal of getting it DONE.
Exactly ehhe
This is my philosophy in life. I am a widow with 3 busy, elite athlete kids. So when you absolutely have no choice to support and motivate them to be all they can be. You are a tired mom who does almost everything half fast, accept raising 3 amazing kids, that I will take an almost perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Oh I like half fasting and have nooo desire to produce perfect results. The fact that you can speed it up just a tad and still get great results is fine by me. Perfection can wait LOL
Half-fast is not the same as Half-assed though! Great post. ^^
Heheh thanks
yes right
So true - as I work most time on computer I started to use a time management system ( pomodoro ), which helps me to focus 25 Minutes Blocks on what I am doing. This saved me a the end some time, I still try to reach the 80:20 Ratio ( reaching 80% of the outcome with 20% time invest ) though :-)
I thought the phrase was used to remind people to do things "half as fast" as they normally would. Focusing on quality and not quantity.
excelente post, me gusta muy bien como plasmas tus ideas y pensamientos de una manera muy entendible de verdad gracias por compartir con la comunidad @kaylinart
Wow a fantastic job, beautiful and active. I support that
im assuming you sell on A-merch too? what tier are you?
I like that. I'll do half fast tomorrow.
@kaylinart where do you upload your t's? and where do you sell them? have fun with your break and half fasting :)
Half fast is better than half ass :)
Grat article! Everyone should consider to half-fast sometimes ;)
We need a save the minnows tee. 😂😂😂
@acromott, this was the article I was referring too! Half fast is the way to go!
very very nice post great work beautiful seen
Yes, perfectionism can hurt you, we live in fast times, plus too much competition, way too many things to do..
Information is EVERYWHERE... it takes time to "sift out the wheat from the chaff" :)
I learned this the hard way - still doing same mistakes to laser-focus for longer times, but at least i'm aware and wanna change.
In general can't stand a half-ass job, but from now on am gonna sing (to myself) - half-fast, half-fast.... hehe
