Over eating can cause more than just weight issues. Over eating impairs the liver's ability to do its job properly. When the live can't do its job properly then toxins build up in your body causing other health issues.
Like you point out in your article @kaylinart, there is a bio-feedback between stomach and brain. Our moods can thus also affect our eating habits, and our eating habits re-enforce our moods, and thus we end up in a vicious circle destined for trouble.
