RE: Reality of living in my country

in #life7 years ago

I'm from the UK, living in Thailand - and had my income stream wrecked by being outside of the UK (bank account problems, and debit card expiration's etc).

I am sorting out - very slowly and painfully, but Steemit has helped me pay the rent and eat, quite literally - for the last 2 months.
Amazing when you think about it.

Is the cost of living a lot lower there?

Compared to UK, lots, especially accommodation. No heating bills is a big bonus to!
If you eat 'in' (we cook all our own food), it's much cheaper.

I have a small detached bungalow with my g/f, and we spend around $6/700 a month for food, rent, motorbike, and everything else..
£450 quid? - I don't think in pounds anymore. lol)

Haha in Venezuela you can live as a KING literally with an income of 1000USD a month.

It's not really the lowest but it is quite low compared to developed economies. There's a direct correlation between cost of living and the popularity of steemit in certain countries, Venezuela, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Philippines come to mind. We'd probably see more people from CIS/Russia if golos didn't exist.
