I have decided to share (without names) some letters I've written, some may be old and others new, as this one is. I love the art of correspondence and have always tried to put poetic (creative) effort in my interactions, in fact, tried is not the correct word as I am creative (right brain person here) and most people seek clarity from me.
For what it's worth here is the first I'd like to share -- it touches upon a tendon that runs through my poetry, all of which is wrought from the fires of life and living -- this is how poetic verse starts for me.
Dear _______,
I do not love you any longer! You’ve worn me out, taken what I have, consumed it all.
It took years to drain the well and all the time I was hoping for you to poor some back,
to fill me up and drench me in love, yet, ne’er a drop and now the draught has come.
I love you in a Stolkholm sense — a shadows attachment, always dark, always there; never tangible, never in the light.
When I try and leave its fear that keeps me; funny, me the one that leaves exceptionally well, no fear, no safety net, no map. How is it that I’m so bound? You give me trouble, in my heart mostly, but the lies do tangle in my head, knots and snags that seem to grow.
Sitting so still, stone, as I search to understand. You know the bath you soak in until the water is cold, uncomfortable, but you stay, prune me,
prune
me.
Sometimes I think you more a handler than a lover. Edit my experience, baby, sand the edge and cover it with polyurethane. Hurt me. Hunt me. Hug me. Seems I knew so little, that cave is dark with nothing but pitch to work with. Fire. Fire rise and burn my soul as fuel that I may take the land back, cinder, singe, sweat, illuminate this darkness and wash me clean of it, and you.
You summoned me and without knowing cast me out, what kind of sorcery is this?
Everlong,
Niish-
The kind of sorcery that involves ashes of what once were sighs in a lovers ear....
Indeed! ::le sigh::
This is how correspondence should read... with soul, emotion and purpose!! <3 <3
Agreed, from one wordgurl to another.
May there always be fires to fuel the passion of communication in interesting ways. <3
Its a good start for this journey!!! Maybe you must send this letter!! :) All the best and greetings from México!! :)
@leveuf, thank you for stopping by as it led me to your page. :)
I am not sure if I'll send this -- I've learned that nothing is better sometimes, plus, I got the emotion out and feel better for doing so -- he never hears/heard me anyway.
If you decide to not send the letter, all those powerful words are now out, for you to get more deep knowledge about yourself!! Will be a pleasure to follow this "epistolary" series of your work!! Greetings and big Hug!!! :D
:) <3
I think I thoroughly destroyed all of my unsent letters. The sent ones seem to have done enough damage. Thanks for sharing yours though, it's quite beautiful. :)
I have thrown lots into the fire, I decided to stop doing so as there is usually a line, or at least the sentiment to kickstart a poem. I hear you in the damage, ugh, that is why I have become more prudent in what I actually send these days. lol
@mamadini
I read this out loud, for I believe anything with a poetic device should, and when I read the last paragraph I could feel the passion. And I really liked in your letter, the part where you say, "Fire. Fire rise and burn my soul as fuel that I may take the land back, cinder, singe, sweat, illuminate this darkness and wash me clean of it, and you."
I know what you mean for I once had wash myself clean of someone in the past, and when I did life was illuminated.
well done!!!Thank you for spending time here. <3
I too read poetic verse out loud, I love to hear how the words roll from the tongue. Don't you find that these things strike a chord with most people? Something about the universal nature of hurt that makes us feel so alone, yet it binds us together in a way. We are never truly alone in the emotional tides and those that express it do a service for those that can not.
