Good morning everyone, I’m going to shoot from the hip for for a moment and share a little about myself as an exercise to release some Monday morning pre-work energy. Enjoy!
Fascism
A chill topic to start the day. :-)
This morning I finished reading How Fascism Works. I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t work for me!
Given the current state of America, its administration, the civil unrest, it’s hard not to be exposed to some of the rot under the floorboards of the country in general. Over the last few months I’ve seen people spew charged words around online. The usual suspects such as “Marxist”, “Nationalist”, “Nazi”, “Fascist”, “Communist”…. But they start to get blurry, such as watching my great aunt call my brother a “Communist Nazi” on Facebook. Things aren’t adding up, here!
I’ve decided that I need to sharpen myself a bit with some pretty basic concepts surrounding political infrastructure, including the more extreme political ideologies. Unfortunately, I do believe our country has been, and continues to subscribe to nationalist rhetoric. “How Fascism Works” is a quick and easy read for anyone who needs a primer to Fascism.
Spices and Indian Food
For the record, I love to cook, and I’m pretty damn good at it. Lately, I’ve been looking at better options to fill my spice drawers. When I mean “better”, I mean quality, obviously, but almost as important I am looking for spices that are ethically sourced. I came across Diaspora Co. A BIPOC, woman-owned spice company based in San Fransisco, who works very closely with farmers in India to provide a great product. They just started shipping this season’s goods out. I will be receiving some Arayna Pepper, Pragati Turmeric and Sangam Chilles.
My partner noticed my enthusiasm, and bought me the cookbook, Made in India. I’ve been in love with Indian food for my whole life, really. I’m excited to get back into it for our upcoming Autumn season.
Synthesizers
I recently posted a single release and music video for a synth project I am working on. I’m very please with how it turned out, and it’s really a huge launching point for me to expand on the ideas I collected from it.
It should be noted that I’m a beginner at music and synthesizers in general. It’s been a long road of learning, gear trading and practice to get where I am today, yet I know the road is so much longer, and there is so much more I can learn. I love my current setup, and I have a pretty good workflow now, so I think I should be able to churn out beats a little more easily.
I'm so excited to share future releases on here! My goal is to have an EP completed by spring 2021. I'm really hoping I can pull off a full length album in that amount of time, however.
Thanks for reading! How's your Monday looking so far?
