Just Another Stupid Post About How to Actually Do a Good Job on Steemit and Maybe Make Some Goddamn Money Around Here

Introduction

Steemit is fucking hard, okay?

Alright. So you signed up and now you don't know what the hell to do.

Fear not. Every few minutes a blogger here will offer up a post like this. It will include the same damn bullshit over and over and over and hopefully, eventually, the message will start rotting a large enough hole in your brain that you're given no other option but to start paying attention to it.

I don't really know where I'm going with this yet but I guess at some point it might turn into one big mess of tips on how to write a how-to Steemit post. I might include some good tips for everyone else as well. We'll see.

Let's cut the shit and get straight to the juicy parts.

Tip #1

  • Top ten lists are a good sign of a lazy writer.
I'll be honest with you. Today, I didn't know what to write about. Usually; I have a good story to share, maybe a long joke, some awesome art, something that'll make you think, and sometimes I'll combine all that together into one epic post. After seeing so many how-to Steemit posts in a short period of time, I became triggered. So, needless to say, here I am feeling my creativity slowly oozing out of my left ear, dripping onto my shoulder, and making a mess of my cleanest dirty shirt.

Tip #2

  • Many how-to Steemit posts are a sign of a lazy writer.
It's not hard to tell people what they want to hear. It becomes much easier to tell people what they want to hear when a template already exists and all one has to do is rearrange the furniture. So, put the part about making good comments at the top instead of the middle. Place the portion of wonderful information about building a following where the comment information used to be. Talk about how important things like formatting and fixing typos are. Do that at the end after you just finished making an entire shitload of mistakes that somehow flew under your radar.

Tip #3

  • I'm already bored of this post.
Once the experienced member realizes they've been duped into reading another goddamn how-to Steemit post that clearly states how using clickbait titles is a bad idea, the experienced member becomes irate and feels like going for a cigarette but quickly realizes he doesn't have any because he's trying to quit.

Tip #4

  • A blogger who offers a unique experience comes out on top.
The world needs teachers. That's a fact. I love teachers, but I hate boring robotic people who stand in front of a room spewing nonsense from their mouth until it's time to punch the clock and start drinking again. Simply writing out the basics because you think it's going to help someone won't be enough. Add a bit of sparkle, some pizzazz, and make it pop. A good teacher knows how to work the room so feel free to entertain instead of acting like you hate your life but need to sound important to mask that fact.

Tip #5

  • If you see a how-to Steemit post, check for qualifications.
Before deciding if the author is trying to help you, have a look at their blog. Is the advice they are offering working for them? If you don't see signs of success, there's a strong chance the author is simply using the basic how-to Steemit post template to make a quick buck or maybe they just couldn't think of anything better to write about. They're next post will be totally unrelated. They're simply throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks. Follow the advice of the true teachers and community leaders. They're easy to spot. There's money beside their work and a simple scroll through previous posts shows how dedicated they are to their craft. Those ones will help you. The others don't give a shit about you or your problems.

Tip #6

  • What works for one doesn't work for everyone.
Find your own style, stick to it, and make steady improvements as you go. I personally recommend leaving the door wide open and allowing yourself to blog away about whatever you feel like blogging about. If you came here to talk about trees and only trees, you will eventually run out of things to say and end up leaving. If you're able to be random while adding your own personal touch to each post, making it yours, your followers won't mind. After all, it is you who they want to follow. Nobody follows a tree. Don't be afraid to mix it up. Keep everyone on their toes. Nobody expected me to write this today and they're probably wondering just what kind of shit I've been smoking this time.

Tip #7

  • Are you an artist or entertainer?
If you're new to blogging, please realize you have entered the entertainment industry. The first three letters of article are 'A', 'R' and 'T'. Entertainment comes in many forms. Some people enjoy reading about space and the moon and stars and stuff. Some like reading about the latest advances in medicine. Some like coming to my blog with the hopes of seeing something completely fucked up. Not all writers are considered artists and it doesn't matter what you're talking about but just know that you are here to entertain in some way, shape or form. If you can't find a way to entertain people, you will fail.

Tip #8

  • If you're an artist.
Step out of your shell, please. When I look around, I see talent in all directions. I click on some of these art posts and I'm instantly reminded of the old man at the small town art convention. He worked hard, he painted pictures for 40 years and he's damn good at it. One of the best I've seen. He loads his van, heads to the hall, sets up his booth, sits and waits. He says nothing as everyone walks by. He sips his water, snacks on his chips. The weekend is over. He loads everything back into the van and thinks nobody likes his work. Stop being that guy. Like I said earlier; make your post snap, crackle and pop. Rice Krispies ain't shit without the sound.

Tip #9

  • Quality over quantity!
I'll do one post per day. If I get skunked, I get skunked. I don't start spamming shit posts until someone notices me again! That's a damn fine way to annoy your followers. I only have so many votes to go around. Right now, I could drop a $5 vote on your post if I felt like it and that's not even at it's full power. Then, if you come back in a few hours with an even better post, guess what! You're not getting another $5 vote no matter how good the post is because I don't have another one to give you! I'm not the only one around here who conserves their votes and enjoys sharing the wealth with others. Many of the responsible members with powerful votes feel the same way as me. As a matter of fact, I learned this from them. Now, look around. Many of the top performers consistently post once per day. Ask yourself why. If they can earn that much per post, why not just keep posting all day? Well, many of us consider that behavior fits nicely under the greed tab.

Tip #10

  • It's hard to believe I even made it this far.
At the end of the day, one of my least favorite things to do is tell people how to act, what to do and how to do it. Go ahead and keep doing your thing, I'll keep doing mine. It does become frustrating though when I see so many offering the same set of so-called rules and guidelines day after day, week after week... Blah! They're just feeding you a line or two of superficial nonsense. It looks so shiny and happy on the surface but the advice their offering isn't getting them anywhere and it's not giving any new members a leg up. There are thousands of variations of that same damn post and as far as I'm concerned, it's all spam.

This is what advice looks like when it's honest. Take it or leave it, my friends.

Have a nice day!

Bloody tough ride mate - and you can do it.
Good luck 👍

No exaggeration: this is the best 'How to Steemit' post I've ever read.

Yes! I thought the exact same thing, totally took the fire out from under me to write one of my own...LOL. Heading over to 'your place.'

Snap-Crackle-Pop! NoNames smoked Krispies!

Great how-to post! It's a bit like literally every other how-to post on this website! Good Job! In fact, I went ahead and manipulated some pixels for you today:

But, seriously...

[...] the experienced member becomes irate and feels like going for a cigarette but quickly realizes he doesn't have any because he's trying to quit.

"Do or do not, there is no try." Congratulations on quitting.

Man... that comic sums it up nicely. So many just chase the money. Fuck! They'd make so much more money if they'd just stop doing that! I've been here since September 2016! My vote is worth $5! I'm not going to vote for some shit I already know and saw 14328 times! It feels good to yell! ....it's the cigs. It's actually really hard to stay focused on what I'd rather be doing. Writing, getting up to take a break and head outside for a cig... that always cleared my head. Now I got stand outside and wonder, wtf am I doing out here? It's cold. I'm not fully off just yet though. I still snap every now and again. Oh well.

I always say break most of the rules and see where you land! What works for one is not always the best for another. Unless it’s freaking plagiarism then go play in traffic where you belong!

Let’s see I have broken the follows guidelines:
1 I don’t want talk about that one. Things where done I was lazy you were right

2 At the time it was a good idea. I was going into a lot of introduceyourself posts and well 99% of those people gave up on Steemit so I lost a lot of my invested time. Oddly enough I only ever read a couple of howto Steemit posts and they were never about the things I wrote about.

4 meow meow meow meow

6 Finally, something we can agree on!

7 I’m a few dozen times over failed entertainer the only thing worse is my drawing skills.

9 This one makes a lot of sense. I try and stick with 1-2. I once tried to do 4 a day for an entire week. Let’s just say it was soul-crushing and mind-bending at the same time. Not recommend. Not sure how others do even more. I’m a serial comment aficionado thank you very much (I just been very lazy these days like a fat cat who speaks poetry)

50% of the "How to" posts on SteemIt are better than the other half.

That there be some actual facts. Everyone pay close attention to this one!

Totally guilty of a how-to post early on! But I actually thought it was helpful at the time, because one of those had helped me :).

This was one of your best articles! And totally confirms the direction I want to head in. I really want to focus on doing fewer, better-quality posts from now on, and like I said in my post tonight, spending more time curating and connecting with other members. I think I became less motivated because often the ones I spent so much time on would get so little traction, and things that I would sometimes share quickly would get attention. It wasn't even so much about the money, although of course that factors in, so much as wondering whether what I had to say was valuable; it's so easy to be affected by the response of others, or lack of it. Honestly, I also found it difficult to deal with critical comments and, even more so.. stupid ones. That's actually one of the main reasons I wandered off a little in the summer: I was posting about art and excellence, which I loved, but then.. it was so uphill having to convince people that most of the poetry on here is bad and it was just disheartening.

Anyway: I really do want to focus on substance, and making better-quality videos as well. A much-needed rebuilding from the ground, I think. Maybe I was also finding it hard to focus on which things to post, and worried that people would be confused by more varied posts?

This was a great article. And funny. And made me wince because I'm worried sometimes I look like that. Doing well here really isn't for pansies! :)

Glad you commented to get me over to your blog and earn my weakly, drained-power upvote! :)

I'm not sure if I ever did one early on but I know for a fact I was tempted because it just simply seemed to be working so well for so many others. <----- see what I did there? :)

Instead of sharing the post, people want to write their own because, well, money. I think it's getting out of hand now though. I saw so many today, triggered!...and well I don't need to explain myself.

Thanks for appreciating this one and I can confidently say the tips here, hidden under my strange way of making a point, are valuable. My experience tells me to basically form a personal template and improve upon it as time passes. I'm able to combine everything I have to offer in one solid effort, most days. Sometimes I make a complete fool of myself, but at least I know I can learn from that one post and I don't have to compare it to everything else I did that day. There's my mistake, that's what I'll learn from.

You have many talents. You write well, your photography is awesome and you can perform a song any time you feel like it. So many times I've wanted to close out one my shows with a song at the bottom and roll the credits. I can't do that because that's not my own work! Those people never answer their emails in time. As a matter of fact, they don't talk to anyone. They're big shot celebs. Too cool for me! ...but you can easily do that.

This was a great article. And funny. And made me wince because I'm worried sometimes I look like that. Doing well here really isn't for pansies! :)

This made me laugh. Honestly though, it's sometimes harder to offer the advice than it is to receive it. I'm the one who risks looking like a jerk here, nobody else, everyone is fine! In the end this was just meant to be some fun constructive criticism for everyone to enjoy and hopefully benefit from.

I'll end it with a thank you!

I was wondering where you were going when I hit #2 since I write the occasional how to post lol. But #5 is perfect advice to go with it. If someone is going to do how to posts it is best to stick with people who work hard on them instead of just pumping out BS posts for attention grabbing. I would never make a how to post without taking my own pictures for each step and offering my own advice. Most just regurgitate what they read on someone elses how to blog for a quick buck.

Yes, I wanted to make sure to point out the difference between the how-to shit post and the actual advice posts. You're a good a teacher. You can relax! There are many good teachers. So easy to spot. It's easy to see the fakes because their previous post was a crypto chart. Before that, a selfie and a paragraph about their day. Before that, a copy/paste news post with a link. Before that, a post whining about how unfair Steemit is. Before that, a long essay about something they found on wikipedia. Before that, a post about how great Steemit is... and that's all in one day, and it never seems to end. Throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks.

Ha, the best part of this post is that I was seriously considering writing one myself for the exact same reasons...I probably would have called it "To those of you spamming my posts, and How to posts, and just in general DO THIS INSTEAD. Then something like "I am a really patient person, unlike @nonameslefttouse I am not currently trying to put down the stogies otherwise that would be a fuck of a lot different, but goddamn are you all trying my otherwise easy going nature!"

Is it too early in the night to already feel like saying "I love you man?" ah, ha, I do though ;)

Go ahead and write one up @dreemit. The people here deserve to know the truth coming from as many different perspectives as possible. Enough of this frickin gong show mindless drivel! LOL.

I saw one post today that said, "Follow lots of people so they follow back." I checked their qualifications. Thousands of followers, low views and votes. I wonder why that's happening to them! Sarcasm much...

That was actually the post that triggered me... then I saw more and more and more... snap!

Hey this post also provides me a nice current link to drop on my spammers, haha, I used meesterboom's spam animation for a time..and who knows, maybe they'll learn something! (Or maybe they'll write "I like this post, thanks for this post" at the bottom of...this post. haha)

I am so using this one "Rice Krispies ain't shit without the sound."

Have at it! That's probably my favorite line out of this entire mess as well... but it's so damn true!

I feel like one of the things that stunt artists is that they see ALL of the talented people and how much talent is in the world, they feel "insignificant" compared to all the Content Creators out there, I find this a LOT in the Music Production "world" , and what I tell the newcomers or new producers is, Don't hold back on your productions , if you see an artist that you really respect, don't be afraid to try to send them one of your tracks, no matter how large or high up the artist is , you never know when you may get their attention.

People are only as small as they want to be. The only one judging you is yourself. Maybe I'm doing well, in their eyes, but through my eyes, yes someone stopped in and admired my work, but I also see the 20 people who just kept on going without even noticing. That rejection stuff is something everyone deals with no matter how successful they become. Then add in the dark side. You reach a certain level and people begin to hate you for it. Like you somehow did it on purpose just to piss them off. Artists like working together. I realize I'm in direct competition with the funny people, but I know how hard it can be to get laughs so I certainly won't start hating them for getting more laughs than me. That's just now how this works. You got me ranting here. Did I mention the lack of cigarette problem somewhere? Is it showing?

I used to write for a website that only published Top 10 lists. It was fun, but the pay sucked because they paid me per post, and I'm detail-oriented in such an extreme way that it might actually qualify as mental illness — so, I would basically have to research the entire internet before I could submit a list on any particular topic. I also hated how bad most top 10 lists were and I wanted to do better.

I guess what I'm saying is, I liked your list of ten tips. You did a good job and made some goddamn money!

Also, I know you're a trickster and like to hide things in your art. Do I detect the word "How" in your artwork today? Or am I just seeing things?

How did you see that? ... Originally, I thought about writing, "How I Do?" Even these cheap covers can sometimes take a little too long to produce, so I had to cut some corners today.

So you did the thing where you write something wide enough to push all the ads to the side where they belong? Something simple, filler, clickbait, hopefully someone clicks the ads. I hate those top 10's!

They work in comedy though, plus I got to get a few things out there that I feel are important. Glad you enjoyed it. I see you've been following some of the advice I've been giving out from time to time. Looks like its starting to work out for you. I'm happy to see that.

Yeah, those are the sort of top 10 lists I wrote, although they did give me some liberty in making jokes, so I'd say it was maybe 10% content you should read, and 90% please click our ads. I don't like ads. Or marketing. And I work in marketing. Most of it's lazy, quantity-over-quality crap that makes me feel like I have no soul.

I have indeed been paying attention to some of your advice. Thank you for genuinely caring and offering that advice. We shall see where this Steemit train takes me.

I'll tell you this right now. I hate marketing and ads as well. The thing is, we're in a brave new world. Those funny words you're putting in between your photos, that's your new marketing... and it's going to work for you, I'm proof of that. Naming that goat Kevin was fucking genius... otherwise, it's just a goat. Everyone has seen goats, but they haven't seen a goat named Kevin. Instead of using sleazy marketing and advertising tricks, you're using straight up entertainment. That stop sign thing was genius too. A simple stop sign, not so simple anymore. You got this man.

Thank you for saying these things. Kevin says thanks, too. 🙂

I hope people recognize the brilliance of this satire.

Well. One just did! ..but I think a few others did as well. I hope so anyway. They sensed the sarcasm so that was cool!

You made it!!10 top tips. Now I can start steeming properly!!

I do like number 5 in particular. The amount of how to posts from people who are patently quite shit at making it on steemit is extraordinary!!

I had a strong feeling I wasn't the only one who noticed this!

And congratulations! Now you finally know what to do. Simply write a how-to steemit post! (I dare you LOL!)

Impressive!

We said my friend. A lot of meat in this post. Interesting your first one is discouraging top ten lists and there are 10 tips. I struggle with number 9...number 9....number 9.... Sounds like an old Beatle record played backwards doesn't it John. Wait John is dead and who is the Walrus? I would ad a sense of humor or a senseless humor as number 11... number 11...

Yeah. I like to start out with dumb jokes. It's self-deprecation humor. When it comes to the top 10 lists, one of the only places they truly work is in comedy. David Letterman did it well. When it's tips about life, take one and talk about it in detail. How many times in your life have you come across the top ten ways to be organized article? One of the tips always included in that lazy top ten is, make a list. Organized people don't need to make lists! They're always ten steps ahead and don't have time to sit down and write a stupid list! LOL... whoa. Rant over.

As for the rest. I think I'll just let you keep singing your song. Humor is a nice touch, but I've noticed a lot of people are afraid to try it. It's not easy, because you don't know if something is funny until they laugh.

Love the sarcasm. If the Steemit gig doesn't work out, you'd make a great middle school teacher. (That's a compliment). You are right. The amount of content is overwhelming. I want to read something with a little flavor. Your post was tasty :) Blessings.

Thank you. Maybe you're right. I could be a teacher. I'll just drop my blog off on their desk, call it a job application, and hope for the best! I'm sure I'll get hired on the spot!

Hey they say teaching is entertainment! You got a good start!! Go for it :)

Actually, my plan is to do this... whatever I'm doing thing, make a few sacrifices now and retire nice and young. So, maybe after that!

That's a good plan!! I'm hoping to just retire quick enough that I retire alive! lol Kudos on your success on here. Blessings.

Thank You so so much My Friend for sharing these tips which is Really going to help many including me. I am damn supporter of Quality over Quantity with one's own style just like you. I am here since last month and i read your blogs and interacted with you then i came to know that you are an awesome write specifically a humourous Writer.

Yes, one's own way & style attracts others for sure. This is how the community works.

Hey @nonameslefttouse YOU are just love & your write up gives me inspiration ♡

I am so lucky that i met you here on steemit :-)

Stay blessed the Pure Soul

Steem On

Thanks for those kind words, man!

You are welcome Man! I am in the process of learning at the moment but i wrote another blog I Really need your feedback to improve the quality Have a look & let me know ;-)

I was there just now, and I'm sorry, again, for being late. I know of a way to get notifications when we're mentioned in posts by using a bot. I should probably get with the program and sign up for that thing already...

Here's my advice. You're doing really well! I see you're a teacher, I mentioned teachers in this post. You already know what to do! I would suggest avoiding the basics. Don't fall for the trap and attempt to chase money by offering simplicity that has already been said repeatedly by so many who, for the most part, don't really know what they are talking about. They read it somewhere, it sounded good to them, so they write it, because they want to sound as good as the others. That's not how we teach, that's how we pass a test, but unfortunately, many who take that test end up failing.

Just be you. Do what you want to do, and I'm sure you'll be fine. Wear your confidence on the outside and just keep going. I'll try to help when I can but just know, there are a lot of people I like to help and I struggle to keep up sometimes.

I am so humbled you took time to visit my Blog <3

You shared some Golden Words to become Great and successful on this platform. I always try to adopt my own style as you do; I learnt this trait from your previous blogs My friend. I will not let you down in this regard. The love and Affection i got is tremendous by now and i will keep in my mind these golden words onward. I know i can not be like You as you are so Superaior than me both in skills and Knowdgle wise but i will follow your every trait My Great Friend <3

I can understand your Situation that how do you reply every comment and sometimes it becomes difficult to go at someone's blog to respond him-- I can understand :)

Well The Great Soul @nonameslefttouse ! You have a few traits which are beyond than standard & I am REALLY INSPIRED by those. Yes i am talking about Your Write Up, Your Kindness, Your Generosity and the helping approach at your end.

My Words are so ordinary to Thanks You Man <3 <3

Upvoted and resteemed because you are a Sarcastic Bastard. Must be why I follow you.

Thanks for the compliments! LOL!

I appreciate the resteem as well. Thank you much!

Solid no name no bullshit advice. Some days it just feels like the old man in the art sales place eating crisps.

Start crunching louder so people notice! Put some mustard on your face. That helps!

Yup! That sums most of it up nicely 😂😂

The quality over quantity rule can be difficult Sometimes I wonder if a post a day is to much pressure when it comes to posting quality work. I have put up work I am not really happy with just to stay consistent, and I wonder if I should have, like the post I made about masks.

One per day can be a serious grind. The art doesn't make itself. I know this all too well as I currently rush to finish something I've been working on. Some of the responsible and highest paid bloggers sometimes do one every two or three days just to be able to keep up with quality.

The thing you said about work you're not happy with... just know; it's never about what you think of your work. I learned this long ago. I produced what I thought was a piece of crap, I said it was a piece of crap, I pressed the post button... people came along and said, "Well, I like it." So now, I just like everything I do. If it's weird, I joke about it. Instead of acting like some big shot, I make fun of myself. Some artists can be their worst enemy. I just say relax, go with the flow. It's all good.

I get what you mean; showing substandard work just disheartens me at times.

It is better to think of each creation more as a child than a thing though; once you release it's on it's way you have to accept it as perfect as it is.

I never gave the smallest flying fuck about this stuff. Sometimes quantity, sometimes quality. Sometimes an artist sometimes an entertainer. Who need labels? I just want to be worshiped.
Steemit is a toilet, where everybody shit in it.

Just try not to leave any ass dust on the seat please. :)

I'll try harder next time.

Yes. Yes you will.

Quality: the closer you look, the more you like.
This is a quality post.
Thanks.

Even though the post is too serious, I think it still qualifies to humor category.
You are really hitting your stride.

Humor comes in many forms. It doesn't always have to make the person giggle.

I'll be back tomorrow for tips 11 - 20.

I can only hope he comes back and does a troll 11-20 for tomorrows. That would be rather funny.

Frickin Hi Jim stills needs to make another appearance... I can't keep up with myself.

Yeah... we're probably not going to see those tomorrow. I'll be honest. I have no idea what's in store for tomorrow. I just hammer keys and somehow sentences show up.

Hammering keys seems to work. I've been following for about a week. Good to meet you.

Nice to meet you too. I see you're an artist. I'm following along now too. Hopefully I'll get a chance to help you out some day.

11-20 buying yourself into false successes! It seems like a fun trolls/satire topic to me. I would not dare I’d get flagged into the ground lol. That or someone would really think this is how to be successful.

11 Work 2 to 3 IRL jobs for fiat and then covert it into sbd you are going need it.

12 Buy yourself an audience if no one is reading it, it must have never happened!

13 Buy every resteem service on the platform this is very important make sure to include at the bottom you are also paying 1 SBD for people with over 500 followers if they resteem.

14 Buy every single upvote on the platform. Yes all of them. This is why you needed to work those 2 to 3 jobs for in the first place

15 When you get flagged down into the ground and/or are not turning a profit please read 16 to 20

16-20 For the remaining tips please send 5,000 SBD so I can laugh at your failure to understand money can only buy you so much in life. Welcome to Steemit!

Hey! Just so know, I'm not ignoring you, I'm just having a fuck of time keeping up. You should write up a post about this, why not! Build on your comments here today. A lot of folks do that.

I have 10 blogs I am working on at this time in varies stages from done to needing more time then I have right now to get them somewhere.

I have around 100-200 comments (might be more I've lost a few good ones over time) I need to turn into blogs..... Maybe one day. Once in a blue moon they do get turned into a blog.

I also have a lot of content I can update if I ever need about comment sections, resteem usage, checking up on who you follow and so forth.

I some times envy people who are not sure what they will write/create next. I am drowning in content I need create lol. I still have much love for comment section :)

That's interesting actually. For me, I have my back up list of ideas... but I rarely use them. The bus post for instance. I've been meaning to write that one for months and because the topic came up recently on another blog about funny nights, and I made a brief comment about that night, I guess I finally thought it would be a good time to get it over with. Most days, I just go with the flow. No planning whatsoever. Every project gets finished.

That was a pretty epic post. I totally understand what you mean and think it makes a lot of sense. The Irony of this whole thing is you did a top 10 post haha!

Yeah, the damn top ten's... I like to include humor when I can so if I get a chance to make a dumb joke, I'll do it! Thanks for enjoying this mess today!

Ha! Well you totally cracked me up man. Here is my upvote even though it ain't worth shit.

If only you knew....

Before a few changes around here, it used to take about 30 or more of you minnow types to be able to offer someone a single nickel with your votes. I'll gladly take that nickel and thanks! It's worth far more than you realize!

You make a good point. I guess I just cant wait until I become a whale so I can buy a car and a house. And find my dream wife. Hey what makes somebody a dolphin?

Open up my blog, scroll down, keep scrolling, keep scrolling, keep scrolling, keep scrolling. Did you see all that shit? That made me a dolphin, I guess. A dolphin is something like 10-100M VESTS and I think I'm at 38.2. I just worked on my blog and didn't cash out. These things pay off in the long run. It's not about today, so if you can't wait, I'd say you're pretty much screwed! :)

I have my own rules as well:
Do not give up. You can make more money with commenting than with writing. It is very important to read the article, understand it and replay by commenting on actual subject, honesty always pays off. Whales and writers will eventually notice if you read the post or just replayed with nonsense which could end up with flag or downvote. If you really show respect to how much time and work they had to spend on each post they will eventually appreciate it by rewarding your comments. With that said i made some notes regarding your post. I hope I didn’t fail:

Type 1-got it
Type 2-its easy to shake up the words
Type 3- not mo problem, never smoker
Type 4- got it, add some spice
Type 5- find a good teacher
Type 6- be flexible
Type 7- Im not neither of two, but got it
Type 8- same as type 4
Type 9- that’s no brainer, I’m 0.001 at full power
Type 10- ?

Resteemed & Upvoted!

While true that leaving comments is a fun way and can be rewarding for a many of reasons. There are quite a few people out there that do not reward comments; instead, they go looking for your latest blog and toss it an upvote.

If you resteem dozens or more times a day people who actually read and use there feed tend to unfollow. It also means if you do write any blogs anyone who comes by looking to see what you been up to will give up trying to find it. They will just think “this guy is just spamming resteem all day.”

There are people on this platform where a follow/resteem from them will bring in lots of votes and people leaving comments wanting to engage. Then there are serial resteem users who are just spamming into feeds of people who get a very low return back on clicks.

While some would argue me not taking an f4f or me being so restrictive on who I choose to follow has “stunted my growth” I would argue most of those people would never bother reading or upvoting my content again. They just wanted the follow back and when they did not get it they went elsewhere. There feed is so full of spam they can’t possibly find what is important to them. I imagine at 2k following you have a difficult time trying to follow your feed. Most people after following a few hundred tend to use bookmarks or engagement in their own blogs to see what people have been up to.

Not saying it’s a wrong way to go about Steemit. Just keep in mind there are many different ways to go about it. Having and using a few options instead of being restricted to just 1 for me at least has been a great way to go.

That follow for follow stuff is exactly why so many have thousands of followers, 10 votes and 12 views. I'm nearing 2000 followers. I never see 2000 votes or views. You want FANS, true fans of your work. You want to give them a reason to show up to the blog and read. You can't do that with shit posts 12 times in a day because nobody has that much time to focus on only one person. I follow 500. Many don't post, eventually I'll have to remove them. ...and yes, coming here to comment makes it a lot easier for me to head your way, but at the same time, I can't be everywhere at once.

There even a worse trend I have been noticing. I call them serial community joiners. At the bottom of their blog they have 5, or god knows how many footer/banners stating all the communities they are in. Most of the time its longer then what ever there content was which is both sad and funny at the same time.

Then you look at their upvotes and they are under $1 total only getting bot upvotes with 2 views on their blog.

They just can’t invest any time into a single community so they get zero rewards and might as well just leave them all and start over.

I suggested long ago: Those with the long signatures should simply write an "About the author" post and link that down at the bottom with a much smaller signature. Then they can fill up that post with as much spam and bullshit as they want. Nobody is reading it, they're trained to scroll past. Anything new gets overlooked... totally pointless. They could also copy/paste their junk into the first comment under each post. Whatever though... it's like talking to a wall.

So many look for that easy road. The shortcut. They don't read the fine print, they just see $$$. Then they find out their tricks and exploits didn't work, they blame Steemit... and quit. I've seen that numerous times.

That’s true!
What do I do then?
I think this should be Type#11
Do I unfollow all I follow, if I do that everyone will unfollow me because I unfallow them. And then I will end up with minus 1500 followers. My goal on first day on steemit was to follow as Manny as I can, so I did.
Oh BTW, I have to go to resteem the one I follow, but I will come back if I’m still welcomed here.

In my first week or two on Steemit I followed a few hundred people and I had to take steps to reduce that.

Make a list of people you enjoy reading their content of and those who you enjoy engaging with. Those are the people who you should follow. If you are not sure then invest some time (in your case a lot of time) checking up on each person you are following and asking yourself “am in interested in following this person content and interacting with them?” If no unfollow!

After that try and find someone who does curation here on Steemit. They resteem the best of what they read a few times a day to your feed. This helps you find wonderful new people when you don’t have time to go out and find them yourself. You tend to just randomly run into one of these yourself or hey they leave you a comment letting you know!

While you do have 329 people following you if they unfollow because you did they had 0 and I mean 0 impacts on you. They are just unfollowing and following for follows. They don’t’ care about you. You were only a number to them.

This is great advice. Not the reason I'm responding though, this is the reason I'm responding: (in your case a lot of time) I think I may have..mmm, nope, dry, but close... ;)

I’ve noticed quite a number of amazing people have an interesting follow ratio.

After a certain point people just seem to give up on maintaining and having any control over it. Which is understandable I use to spend every weekend trying to catch back up on every person I was following. That was a weekend afternoon hehe.

I’m just blessed I follow enough to keep my feed interesting and flowing but not to many it turns into a circus with lots of room to spare.

Hey @milano1113. Nobody is kicking you out.

Go ahead and keep doing your thing, I'll keep doing mine.

I said that part too.

Thank you!
RESTEEMED!
Anyway, I think we sort this one out.

And that's the beauty about Steemit. You can check enyone what’s he up to, you can see how many times a day he made a comment, you can even check his wallet. And that’s only what I know, I’m only for a month on steemit, so I’m sure there is much more.
Anyway, thank you for your advice, I’m open to any.

If you have not dug around on a site like https://steemd.com/@milano1113 it can be rather fun. Sooner or later you might get rather bored and want to join a community and start putting out your own blogs. While there is some amazing open door community out there they are getting abused a lot by people taking advantage of them for their upvotes.

A small closed community that has requirements to get in is where a lot of the fun and friendships get made. Part of Steemit is networking and a very big part in the community. A lot of them look for long-term consistent, quality content, and being a team player.

I have one person who told me they have me bookmarked so they can read my comments. The odd thing is he has only ever upvoted my blogs, not my comments outside of his own blog lol. Outside of the random comment challenge people tend to not invest a lot of time into reading other people’s comments.

While financial rewards are a part of Steemit it’s the community that is the true and most rewarding.

In a year from now, where do you see yourself on Steemit?

Honestly, I don’t know.
I’m realy enjoying it now.
But what is the difference between if I comment on post and resteemit and if you comment on as many posts and don’t resteemit. Most of the time I Resteemed the post I also let the author know and in return they realy appreciate it.

When someone tells me they “resteem” my post I go and look if they left a decent comment. Most of the time they don't and if they did they resteem every dang thing they read that day. There resteem to me is worthless even more so if there comment was low quality as I only upvote certain type of comments.

If you resteem everything you read you will have a hard issue getting someone who is a “hard follow” to follow you. Look at my stats 671 followers; 54 following. With very few exceptions if someone gets spammy in my feed they are out!

I follow so few because I engage a lot with those people. I don’t worry about missing their latest blog because my feed moves at a speed I can almost follow (depending on the day.) I invest a lot of time into the people I follow. From leaving comments, to offering help if I see they are needing/asking it.

When someone comes to my page and they notice I resteem something they sometimes look because I’m rather picky about it. Best thing ever that I know of is I comment on a post and someone with a decent upvote read my comment and like it so he check out my blog. He left me $3 but the person who I had resteem $20 within 30 secs of both votes. There was no other way he would found and upvote that other persons blog lol.

I’m getting realy dizzy now.
I just don’t see anything wrong about resteeming someone’s post that I comment on. Meny times I resteem someone’s post and thanks to this it appears in front of the HOME page.
I got it, you think you are right and I don’t think there is anything wrong about things I do. At the end we follow the same person.

Hmmm...

Sure. I'll upvote a Hmmm...

Care to elaborate?

Idk, Im not the best at putting words down somewhere from mind to fingers to express my reactions to something, but I just laughed a lot while reading this.. you are right, wayyy wayyy too many "top 10-lists" or "how-to-get-better-on-Steemit" bull, here on Steemit, and everywhere in general. But you killed this one...

Clearly, you are a trained professional. Immediately I was hooked to continue reading your post, cuz I didnt know what crazy shit you would write next. And thats the point you made through out this whole 10 list thing, I think. Be different. Even though you did exactly what you hate seeing up on your feed, yet you killed it an made it fun to read, at least for me, and thats your thing, i think.

Also you do offer some valueable info, so "hmmm..." is my way of saying message received. I sure do post a lot.

I didn't expect you to upvote the "hmmm..." haha, but do become familiar with meh, I do plan to grow as a Steemian.

Im not the best at putting words down somewhere from mind to fingers to express my reactions to something..

Hey. Don't sell yourself short. You did a damn fine job here.

I enjoy making people laugh. If this thing had you laughing from top to bottom then that only tells me you got it. So many different layers of humor here combined with what I'm actually trying to say.

Trained professional... well, I can't really learn how to make people laugh. I did do a lot of research on humor though, a long time ago. I always wanted to be prepared so I could explain myself in the event of a catastrophe. At first I was worried about how people would react. I'm looking for laughs, but what if they read it seriously! That used to be my internal struggle. I could easily list off every form of humor used here, offer definitions and plenty of reading material.... I'm so glad people just get it. These days, I just go for it. No need to worry about what others might think.

Thanks for laughing. That's the main thing. I'll follow your blog. Can't promise any votes, but you might impress me someday, and I don't mind giving you that chance.

AHAHAH. Man, chill. Relax. You are a bit nervous!

Me? Nervous? I was giving this member an opportunity to speak. I don't often get hmmm's unless there is a mosquito buzzing around my ear.

I am just getting started on steemit and this inform interested steemer's . This system is kinda hard but it pays off if u comment hard.
post was very helpful in showing me how to comment on posts. Thank you for taking the time to Thanks for tips i followed you to see other tips

I don't write tips. A lot of this was tongue in cheek but I did offer some good advice from my own perspective. I said nothing about how to comment on posts. What kind of robot are you?

One with a 20 rep..

I fall for Tip #3 every time. And if folks looked under the hood of successful posts and realized how much vote buying is going on, they might have a different take on the Steemit advice posts. Especially when those Steemit advice post folks are buying votes, but never mention that. But I fall for Tip #3 every time. I've never claimed to be smart. Just smart enough to keep going, and to not eat any wild things that are toxic. ; )

As @therealpaul said, everything about this post is gold and the best how-to-steemit you will ever find.

I wish my voting power was worth idk... 20 cuz you deserve all the good feedback n.n

Keep up with them coolz postz! :D
