It's been cold and more snow than usual, but reminds me more of what it was like when I was a kid. Was getting dry in this area as well so this melt will bring the water table up. Lake dries up a bit and it's almost always windy here during the day in summer and that's what makes the dunes. This place needs work though, not really designed for arctic style weather. Had the pipes freeze up one night. Wasn't a total disaster though but now I'm paranoid.

The cold reminds me of childhood too. It even snowed in inland Florida when I was a kid - the famous snow of '89. Here sand dunes are places you are not allowed to touch and especially not allowed to climb, which makes sense because there are way too many people at the beaches, and they would be flat. Your dunes sound more fun. I wish you luck with your pipes. A few more weeks and the worst of the intensity is over, I assume. I love February: the days are a bit longer, spring starts to ever so subtly trickle in, and there is chocolate for sale in every direction that I can buy for myself:)
