"A dream is a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that
usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep."
We've all had dreams we wished to repeat, or done differently while we were in them.
A nightmare we wanted to snap out from, but couldn't. Or just a dream we wanted to stick around in just a little bit longer. Well - let me to introduce you to...
(Experimental photography I did with some heavy editing)
Lucid Dreaming - a conscious dream where you are fully aware of the state you're in. You acknowledge the fact that everything around you is a fabrication of your own mind and that you are currently in a dream state.
So what exactly are the advantages of lucid dreaming? - Control. You can control absolutely EVERYTHING inside your dream, given you are experienced enough. Flying is usually the first skill a fresh lucid dreamer learns, but as you keep on pushing the boundaries of your dreamscape you'll keep learning new skills and new abilities.
Shapeshifting, time-warping, telekinesis, teleporting, creation, destruction - the only limit as to what you can do is your imagination.
But the road to achieving full lucidity is not a simple path, and with this Steemit series I will be introducing you to the world of lucid dreaming and how to have a firm grasp on your dreams.
And the advantages of lucid dreaming carry on into the real world as well! It's incredible how well rested and rejuvenated you feel after a good lucid dream - ready to take on the entire world! And considering the fact we sleep through 1/3rd of our life, why not make that portion just a little bit more interesting?
Did you know the history of lucid dreaming is rather old and interesting, practiced by many cultures of the past Shamanic tribes, The aboriginals, Tibetan Yogis, The Senoi, Hindus, Buddhists and many more used to practice the art of Lucid Dreaming. People used to believe they were treading on astral grounds while dreaming hence why it had many spiritual and religious connotations in the past.
Through this Steemit series I will be showing you how to achieve lucidity (techniques, reality checks...),
how to keep lucidity, how to actually take a firm grip on the dream and control it, avoiding nightmares and sleep paralysis and most importantly, how to have fun!
Hope to see you guys on my next Lucid Dreaming series #2 - "Path to Lucidity - Reality checks".
Stay strong and dream on, Steemians!

Lucid dreaming has way more to offer than simple dream control. I get that this is the easiest way to turn people on to the idea, but honestly you can use it for a lot of things. You can use it to practice waking life skills, get inspiration for creative pursuits, which are some practical things. My favorite reasons to use lucid dreaming are for self-exploration, personal growth, and enrichment. If you have phobias, you can practice aversion therapy in a completely safe environment. There are a lot of things to be explored and many ways you can learn new things about yourself that you can then use to your advantage in waking life. I was able to overcome suicidal tendencies and most of my depression with the use of lucid dreaming. It's more than just a playground, you can get a lot of work done, too.
You did the first photo yourself? Nice job!!!
I have been doing lucid dreaming on and off for years, and I am eager to read what tips and tricks you have up your sleeve since we all have some :D
Yeah, I found a pretty interesting algorithm that I used to edit the image. It's actually taken on my old smartphone (Lumia 822 Carl Zeiss lens camera).
Lucid dreaming is fantastic hobby to have that gets better as you keep practicing because of all the opportunities and control you gain over your dreams.
Hvala :)
