Actually I'd like to see a boat that you built, redneck or not, now THAT would make a great post! you could probably make it from materials you have laying around your place or your shop.lol! I thought you might like that boat @smithlabs and you'd be able to put it to good use at that lake you're moving to!
Papa-pepper and you have alot of similarities, both have kids, both are very creative, both love to teach and educate people, both are rednecks but the intellectual variety, both love nature and plants..I don't know if you like to play with snakes though! lol.
thanks smithlabs, you're the best.
I have enjoyed his posts, and his kids! When I play with snakes, they are usually poison, and they don't do well, LOL!
The boat desgin came from a need to be able to put the boat inside my car (my own limiting factor, by choice) I ended up with a pontoon style design using 5 gallon buckets for flotation. Each bucket will lift over 40 pounds, so I figured that 16 would do plenty. I can stack the buckets in the car, and assembly them on location. A 2 x 4 with 4 lids mounted times four will give me four legs to bolt on for pontoons, onto a central frame deck. Chair and trolling motor for comfort; and it will float over 600 pounds.
you're kidding. you actually designed one similar to the redneck photo? why don't you buy a real one lol?
No fooling, I wanted one I could carry to a pond to use. It also needs to break down and fit in my sedan, so I can go where I want, when I want. Each bucket will lift 41.5 pounds. Attaching lids to the four 2x4 legs will provide mounting for flotation buckets. These legs can be bolted to a central frame, to form a pontoon style boat. These parts can fit inside my car, with the buckets stacked up. I have a trolling motor to push it.
I actually designed this for the pond at the Gun Club, as you can use boats there, but they MUST be carried only, and no gasoline motors are allowed. I have a 16 foot pontoon right now, and a canoe; but this bucket boat just looks fun.

Overall length is about 12 foot, width about 5 foot. I can splay the four legs out to get about 7 foot width for more stability at some loss of speed. A separate bucket, with lake water circulating, will make a live well. Another bucket will hold the 12 volt battery, for the trolling motor.
