The worst problems are most human profiles being spammers and spammer-minded and this: https://steemit.com/steemit/@stimialiti/bots-and-multiple-accounts-on-steemit
The suicide part is not having direct ads, although the promoted content and the system as is now, actually encourage advertisement in a sense and help mitigate some of this problem.
I am of two minds about ads. Part of me things that unobtrusive ones might be ok and the other thinks that it might mean more bots in an attempt to game the ads
If Advertisers will have to buy STEEM in order to advertise, guess what will happen to its price.
What do you mean by "it might mean more bots in an attempt to game the ads" ?
Well it depends. It depends on the popularity of the site. They aint gonna pay a fortune for a site with 50000 users. For the price of steem to rise we need more users which I believe we will get.
There are lots of bots gaming adverts by clicking them in the wider web just now, Dont know what that will do to steemit
