You can't get rid of January simply by tearing it off the calendar.

People are usually unwilling to change in their lives after being accustomed to a certain style of life. However, this can cause a lot of problems, as changing circumstances often make change in lifestyle inevitable.

For example, those people who leave their country and go abroad for various reasons face many challenges. First they have the task to adapt to a new culture and habits that are completely different from what they were used to in their own country. They will also have to adapt to the weather and may need to learn a new language, or now, communicate regularly in a language other than their mother tongue, which they used more frequently before their relocation at some point in their lives. The reasons for this may be varied and need not concern us.

Career changes inevitably necessitates the acquisition of a different set of skills and experiences in the new job, a new routine and adaptation to new friends and colleagues at work.

In the face of economic recession and related circumstance, people may lose their jobs as the organization they work for try to adjust to the adverse situation by retrenching many of their workers (terms such as ‘down-sizing’, ‘right-sizing’ and ‘restructuring’ are the modern day euphemisms for the phenomenon). A worker who suddenly loses his or her job obviously has to adjust to a new lifestyle, at least until a new job comes along.

Closely related to job loss is retirement. Many people carry on at their jobs as if they will remain at such jobs forever. But retirement is inevitable not only for the paid worker but also for the self employed. Retirement in most cases means a change from an active working life to a more sedimentary lifestyle. It often requires giving up official property such as accommodation and vehicles and the replacement of a regular salary with a modest pension, which may not be regular. Because of these, the prospect of retirement is often viewed with apprehension by man, as they are not prepared for it.

Outside the work domain, other changes continue to take place. For example, at some point in their lives, young men and women come together and get married and start their own families. The transition from bachelorhood or spinsterhood of course means adaptation to a spouse, raising children, and discarding many of the habits, often reckless and impulsive, of unmarried life.

As painful and undesirable as it is , another inevitable change is the untimely loss of a loved one, a wife, husband, a parent or friend. It often turned people’s lives upside down, and necessitates a drastic change in lifestyle. Many people never anticipate such a loss, and if unfortunately it does occur, it can be quite devastating.

People have to be ready for any changes that may occur in their lives, as change is inevitable and there is no guarantee for anyone that life will be stable forever.

In conclusion, Life is like the changing seasons-you cannot change the season but you can change yourself. A key thing in life is to learn how to handle the winters. They come regularly. Right after autumn. In some case it is long, in some other cases it is short, some are difficult, some are easy, but they certainly come after autumn. That is never going to CHANGE.

There are three kinds of winter. There are financial winters, social winters and personal winters.

Wintertime can bring disappointments. So you must learn how to handle the winters. You must learn how to handle difficulty; it always comes after opportunity. That is never going to change.

The big question is what to do about winters. You can't get rid of January simply by tearing it off the calendar. But you can get stronger; you can get wiser; you can get better.

Remember this trio of words: stronger, wiser, better. The winters won't change, but you can.

"Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better. Don't wish for fewer problems, wish for more skills. Don't wish for less challenge, wish for more wisdom."

The ability to adapt is one thing i know we Nigerians are born with.. It's just that most people fail to harness it in specific directions that can benefit them..

Thanks for sharing..

even though we are in another more advanced or more modern country. but we remain more comfortable with our own country. adapt to new environments takes time.
Thanks for sharing!

I can get stronger, I can get wiser and I can get better...despite the type of winter! 🙌
Thanks for this.

Indeed, you cannot change some life circumstances but YOU are one thing you can change o'er and o'er

Cheers

First of, I must say your picture in this post is lovely and great.

As a Life Coach, I often tell people that for them to progress they will have t embrace change. The change may be tough initially but if we stay still and endure, we will enjoy the dividends.
Life itself is not a pot of soup. You just have to cook it as it comes raw and then make it into whatever you want it to be.

Difficult? Yes
Impossible? No

So Get Up and keep grinding
