I'm not very good at asking for help. I even found it difficult to start this post. I guess it's because I have spend so long, being independent, always finding a way, making things work. For those who know me, you know that I like to live a simple life, in nature, exposed to the elements. I'm all about life experiences, which in my eyes, is where the real wealth lies. But now I find myself in a position with I do actually need financial wealth. I have a few different jobs, that I do, that enable me to to live as I do and provide for my girls as best as I can.

I always just have enough, it's how I have lived my life these last few years and it has served us well. But with the recent weather, the wettest it has been in years apparently. Which is great for the land, today it rained so heavy, monsoon heavy. Great for the land, but not for my home, which is a wooden horsebox. The sun here is so strong, which already plays havoc with my wooden home, add in the current torrential rain and my home is now suffering.
I have some leaking around the windows, which could be fixed with some sealant. But it doesn't end there. The rain has seeped through the exterior wood, where now my inside walls are wet. Which means the insulation is wet also. These two weeks, have really damaged my home. Two years ago, I had the idea to put epoxy over the wood, in the hope of sealing it. But that has certainly not worked.
I have wanted to move on from our truck, find a new home for me and my girls, one that would be just ours, with no ties to my ex, their very absent father. But the idea was always to sell the truck or at least trade it in for something else. That is not an option now. I don't have the money to try and fix it, let's be honest that would be a huge undertaking.
With wet walls, I know it will soon get moldy, no one should be living with mold in their home, certainly not be surrounded by it. So I find myself in a tough situation. I already work most days of the week, I need to, as I'm the sole provider for my daughters. But it's no longer enough. I can't afford to rent anywhere, over the last few years the price of rent has shot up, as lots of people like living here. But I also can't afford (for health reasons) to continue to live in my truck.
I'd be willing to work more, if it did provide me with enough income for rent, but work here is not that easy to come by, I'm pretty fortunate to have the jobs I have. I have made it known that I am looking for more work. I have thought about perhaps starting a fundraiser, but I'm so shit at things like that. I have never been good at selling myself, let alone asking for help. But I also don't know what else to do.
If anyone has any ideas, please do share. I'm a hard worker. I'd like to think there would be another way to raise the money besides a fundraiser, I feel like I'm out of the loop for lots of things. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
At the same time: I feel you, and have been in similarly intense situations. It will pass.
Prioritising home security seems essential: finding right heating and drying solution (borrowed/ makeshift stove??), and then fixing everything one step at a time; everything has a free solution or gift solution option. It feels like solutions may require much longer and much more nuanced conversations than the comments here, and if we were closer, it'd be much easier to be of practical support, dear @trucklife-family
Freeing our mind up to receive what we need is an art, for sure. Slowing down and getting in the right frame of mind(bodyspirit) can help enormously. As can prayer and focussing on what the actual needs are; putting all one's energy into holding the solution in focus, can be useful.
Making a hierarchy of priorities; that's what I do in my most dire crises: stripping everything back to basics so one can get a fresh perspective?
I wish you all the love for success in the next phase of you and your daughters' lives 🪷👑❤️🔥
I really appreciate your support xxxThank you @clareartista, yes freeing up my mind, that is a priority for me now and also releasing this mindset of scarcity that seems to be very well embedded in me.

Isn't there a law that forces father to provide money for his daughters? Here when a couple separate, who doesn't keep the kids has to provide financial help even if he doesn't want... Else you might want to call social services to provide a housing
There is a law, but their father lives in a different country and I don't even know where, so that is not possible, also I am not registered in the country I live in.
And how about ask local church? Usually they are willing to help who's in need
That's certainly a challenging situation, @trucklife-family, and I wish that I could be more help. A fundraiser would probably be the quickest way get a chunk of money to cover your expenses. Also acquiring a large tent or yurt would be very helpful to get you and your girls out of the truck, and so that you have some space to decide what to do with it. I pray that a solution comes quickly, and that you move through this smoothly. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Thank you my friend, I would need some help with the fundraiser, it's not something I am good with, but I do have a friend in mind, who could perhaps help me. xx
Of course, you're always very welcome! I understand, I've never tried to do a fundraiser either. That's very good to hear! May it go smashingly well! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Sorry to hear that, I guess I don't know what to do either if I'll be put in your situation. By the way, with your writing style, have you tried finding writing gigs online? There are better offer for online writers/copywriters.
About your truck, maybe you can cover it with a canvas sheet during rainy days. But now that it's always wet, the only way is to wait for the sunny day to come so you could do something for it. There are wooden houses too, but they last for long years without suffering a situation like yours.
Search on Google for a solution to do to avoid getting the same problem.
If I were to ask, I don't want to sell the truck, unless the buying price is reasonable enough to buy you guys a decent house to live. It's not a good option to rent, because income will just go to it monthly. 🥺
By the way, have you tried blogging your daily life in your truck house on Facebook and other social media platforms? There are families living in trucks and they are doing that. They are earning decent amount through blogging their daily lives on social media platforms.
I wish to have a truck for my family, to be honest, where I can travel with them using the truck. ☺️
My solar panels are on the roof of my truck, that is why I never put a canvas over the roof.
I'm not on facebook, it's never really appealed to me and I live under the radar so don't really want to share too much about my lifestyle, but thank you for your advice, I will look into the writing jobs, any advice there would be appreciated xxThank you @jane1289, I haven't looked into any online writing jobs, I won't know where to look or indeed ever thought I would be good enough so thank you for the reassurance.
The only thing I can think of at the moment is get a large, military type canvas tent (think of the MASH tent). While you and the girls live in it, you dismantle the current house, dry out the wood and insulation before it can mold, then use the materials to construct something livable. Do sorry you are going through this :( ....
Thanks @wrestlingdesires, we certainly need an alternative, that is for sure. I just don't have the finances for it at the moment unfortunately. I do like the idea of a Mash tent though xx
If it comes down to it, you can do what some friends did on their property (large family with kids of all ages).
Please note this was a year round HOME complete with wood and cook stove. It's a viable option until you have the finances to upgrade, they lived comfortably there for years.
Needing to ask for help is one of the ways we remember that we are human ... it divides us from God, but also opens the avenue to blessing.
I do not know enough about your living situation to give you good advice except that of course you have to make a move ... asking for help to dry out the walls sounds like a good plan. Are there any local tiny home communities that might make a good switch as well, and thus the rent might be manageable?
Thank you @deeanndmathews, there are no tiny communities here that have accommodation available, which is unfortunate as that would be a wonderful solution xx
So sorry you have to go through all this, I will suggest you asked trusted people for help or if someone can help assist you with a fundraiser so you find a place to rent or if it will be cheaper , try to change the wood to other options that won't be disturb by rain or sunshine
Thank you @lecia89 for your advice xx
I would look at trying to get some cheap, second hand or free roofing iron sheets and install a second roof on the bus with a bit of a slope then put the solar panels on top of that. As always way easy said than done. !LUV
