Clothing and protection, so easy to take for granted until we don't have adequate covering.
How many of us have wardrobes with items we haven't worn in years? or better yet, that no longer even fit?
Could they be put to better use by someone else before we let the moths get to them?
If clothing is not our surplus, what other protection and warmth could we provide to others?
The warmth of friendship and kindness goes along way to those "over exposed" to the chill breezes and storms of life.
Jesus taught:
"[I was] naked, and ye clothed me."
—Matthew 25:36
Along with things like food and shelter, clothing is a basic need. It covers us and can keep us warm. We can share with people to help them get the items they need.
WAYS YOU CAN CARE FOR THOSE IN NEED
Recently purchased some new clothes?
Donate some old ones to a charity or thrift store.Have you ever felt really cold during winter?
Buy a new winter coat and give it to someone in need. Are you planning on buying new clothes online to give as Christmas presents this year?
Consider purchasing through an online store that donates a portion of an item’s price directly to a charity of your choice.

I do not live in the richest country of Ukraine and perfectly understand what you are talking about. My family did not starve and did not need much. But families of my family's acquaintances in the 1990s were very poor. And I remember very well how their children rejoiced at my things, which my parents gave. This time we have a tense situation in ATO, and I, like many our citizens, help things and products, giving them to volunteers who send them to the front. Good luck to you and good.
Woow nice post!
thanks
A warm heart doesn't need clothes ! The love which it gaves is like a blanket
This time warn cloth important for us.
Luke 3 vs 11
''And he would answer and say to them, "The man who has two tunics is to share with him who has none; and he who has food is to do likewise.''
Thanks @gavvet for this post. It's one where no one will have any excuse not to give. The ideas I have with respect to giving out our clothes, We can clean our closets! We should de-clutter our closets and our lives, by giving those clothes that no longer fit, or might have gone out of style, to our local Goodwill or other clothing drive. The clothes we give away will keep those in need warm and give them a sense of dignity.
Also, you know those free samples that we always get from the dentist (toothbrushes, floss and toothpaste)? Rather than throwing them into a drawer and forgetting about them, we gather them up and donate them to our local homeless shelter.
I hope this helps someone become a blessing in this season. Thanks
Great points there. Atines we forget this things and obligations.
“For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man
in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine
clothing and say, ‘You sit here in a good place,’ while you say to the poor man, ‘You stand over
there,’ or, ‘Sit down at my feet,’ have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and
become judges with evil thoughts?” James 2:2-2:4
By letting needy people be without proper clothing, we are making it easy for others to judge them unfairly. Thank you for reminding us to include clothings while showing love season and beyond.
I was just discussing this with my mother this afternoon and she was telling me how the owner of the farm which my father manages, denied loaning, not even giving, his staff R3000 for Christmas. This man is extremely wealthy and he could not even part with a few 'cents' to help someone else to get to be with their families. It is so sad to see how greedy we get the wealthier we become. We see this prophecy in Matthew 24:12, where because of wickedness men's hearts become cold.

You know, I learnt a lot from the story of Dorcas. Despite the fact that she was not too 'rich' as the world see it, but eternal she impacted more lives than even the rich ones could.
She clothed those around her, by making clothes.
Acts 9 vs 39
'So Peter arose and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the upper room; and all the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing all the tunics and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them'
So for some of us who are good at sewing, we can make some lovely clothing and give to those who have not. When we see people wearing the works of our hands, and we see that our own products are helping make people warm, we feel a sense of satisfaction that money can't buy.
That's what true living is all about.
Very true @gavvet. Thanks for urging us to go the extra mile by checking our closets for clothes.
Most times i find out that i was keeping an item “just in case” or as a back-up.
My thought process was something like “What if I can’t do laundry for 45 days in a row? Shouldn’t I make sure I have enough clothes so I can wear something new for all 45 days?!” In reality, I do some kind of laundry almost every day. And if we ever are without laundry for more time than usual (away on holidays, our washing machine breaks down, etc.) even if I only had 7 shirts, I could wear each one twice and be decently clothed for two weeks.
Another thing I often found myself doing was over stocking. I thought “if I like to wear black t-shirts I better make sure I have 10 so I always have one available!” Again I reminded myself that I can do laundry and have an item clean again very easily.
Sometimes rationally thinking through these “what-if” scenarios was all I needed to do to let go of this scarcity mindset. Think about what you actually need and wear in your wardrobe. Chances are you don’t need as much as you think.
I have made up my mind to do a mop up, i will not only give clothes i am not wearing, but make some sacrifices of giving things dear to me. Thats where teue happiness comes from.
Thanks alot for this.
Whatever the reason, it’s in your closet but you aren’t wearing it. It’s time to let it go, the money is already spent. Keeping it in your closet will not get the money back. In fact, keeping it will only prolong your negative feelings, making you feel guilty every time you see it. If it’s not something that you love, you are never going to wear it anyways. It’s just taking up space in your closet. Let the item go. There are a lot of people who would love and treasure them.
Isaiah 58:7
"Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
God bless you for all your efforts. Keep soaring high. You are a huge blessing to humanity.
I was really glad to find out that a lot of people are writing posts under the #lighttheworld, especially outside of steemit.
For example, this site https://howdoesshe.com/clothe-the-naked-light-the-world/ wrote a post on giving, under the #lighttheworld
She pointed out two important ways we can cloth the needy in this Xmas-
We could go buy the Christmas song by Bianca Merkley for $1.00. All proceeds will go to the International Rescue Committee and her song can be listened to all year long- it’s that good!(check the link above on how to buy the song)
Secondly, You could go buy the Christmas Countdown Banner in the HowDoesShe Shop. All proceeds using code: REFUGEE will be donated to the IRC and you get $1 off, so your price will be $3.99!
Let's get creative this Christ and bless lives
Really enjoying this series. It keeps me motivated that alot of people are actively involved. @gavvet, you are an encouragement. God bless all your work.
I have noticed that by donating your used clothing, you are helping others who are perhaps less fortunate than you get quality clothing at a lower cost (FREE). You never now how that thick coat you have in the bottom of your closet can help someone living in freezing conditions.
It is such a waste to throw clothes away or to just leave it hanging in one’s closet, and not worn. Donating used clothing is a gesture of generosity; it helps less-fortunate individuals in our communities. It helps to clear out space, making room for items we actually need and use, and eliminating clutter.
In short, clothing donations can benefit everyone, also we are urged as christians to obey the Golden rule. When we are doing these things and giving out clothings, we should try and put ourselves in their shoes, we should check whether what we give them is what we can give ourselves. Have a great weekend.
While you no longer need certain items of clothing, there are those out there who are less fortunate, and they would likely gladly accept these unwanted items. Every year, nonprofit organizations and projects like #lighttheworld make it possible for thousands of people to gain the ability to maintain their basic needs, and you can contribute to the well-being of your community when you donate your unwanted articles of clothing. I totally agree with you. I encourage us all even as @gavvet has done to give out things and possessions to those who needs it. I am proud to be a part of #lighttheworld.
Thank you for sharing @gavvet These words are what give life meaning, helping others, I believe that when Jesus spoke these words was to see what we do today to our fellow men, at this time it is necessary to give we need to sow with love, not what we have left but what we are willing to share with heart, there is the bliss. Also refers to the nudity of the soul, there are people who will have physical clothes but their souls they are naked, to them we must clothe them, warm them with the unconditional love that Jesus sowed in us.
Thank you so much. This has awakened a lot in me. The thing is that giving to others increases your capacity for love. It makes you realize that even if you don’t have much, you have enough to share with others. In fact, poor people donate a larger percentage of their income to charity than rich. Donating used clothes to a shelter, new shoes to foster kids, or money to a worthy organization will make you feel rich.
If you have children, donating clothings to charity will show them you care about others and want to make the world a better place. If you involve your children in choosing charities, you will instill a desire to share and serve that will last throughout their lives. Grandchildren, nieces and nephews can also be influenced by your generosity towards others. These children are the generations to come. So instilling this value in them would create a better society in the future where everyone is their Brothers' keeper. God bless you @gavvet foe how God is using you to spread the lifestyle of Christ to the world at large through #lighttheworld
Acts 9 vs 39
''So Peter arose and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the upper room; and all the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing all the tunics and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them''
On ideas on giving out our clothing,i think we can Consider donating your old sheets, towels, comforters and blankets to your nearest homeless shelter. We can Put them to good use! But please let's not give the too old ones only, let's try to give those that are still presentable, because these people are human and deserve something good.
Another idea will be to take advantage of the buy one/get one free sales at the grocery store for soap, shampoo, deodorant and other toiletries. And then we can donate the freebies to our local shelter.
Eze 18 vs 7
if a man does not oppress anyone, but restores to the debtor his pledge, does not commit robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing,
Clothing is a symbol of our human dignity. It is one of the things that set us apart from animals. And it’s within our fallen human nature to think that people with nicer clothing are somehow more dignified (even though it’s untrue).
So in thinking that clothing we would never be caught dead in, and would never want our friends caught dead in, is “good enough” for the poor, we might be unconsciously feeding into the idea that they have less dignity than we do. Although I think that even our “castaway” clothing should be donated rather than thrown away as long as it is still wearable (because ugly or old clothing is better than nothing), I agree with the idea that we should strive to think of “the least of these” as worthy of everything of which we believe we ourselves to be worthy.
We should think of ways we can clothe the naked with clothing that sends the message that they have dignity and are worthy of respect.
I holland it is centrally managed. In the whole country there are special bins were you can put your old clothes in for others in the world.. I always donote 2 times per year and give it away..
An excellent post and you are right, which can better warm you up, than a warm attitude to you! Of course, I buy warm clothes for my family every year, but the old, but quite good things we give to the shelter, unfortunately there are still people who need it. Thank you @gavvet for the excellent post!
@gavvet,
Salute you! In this bloody cold winter how many people (homeless people) suffer by it! If we can give them one warm cloth, how they feel and how we feel it!
If we could give them new cloth how they feel it! This is a wonderful thought! Your #lighttheworld tag is actually lighting the world!
God bless your work my friend!
I hopefully do my part here in Jerusalem by doing the weekly Sabbath shopping for an elderly 77 -year old Rabbi and teacher who lives in the Meah She'arim section of town.Believe it or not, he does Yogic Head Stands of up to three minutes. He started when he was 30 years old.
GOD takes care of us, using angels who act in our favor, we can really be those angels that many people are in need of to cross their path to see a light in the midst of so much need. we just have to prepare ourselves to be a channel of blessing for others, to serve without measure, to give from the heart without expecting anything in return. We can be part of God's purpose for anyone, we should just let ourselves be used by him to bless. thank you for spreading this type of messages it is necessary that many more people know the value of the DAR and how rewarding it is to help the needy. I am at this moment far from my country and I have seen the hand of God helping me by giving me food for my family when we did not have anything and all that has been through people who have let themselves be used by JESUS, because their great love for us there is no limit and he wants us to be just like he is fair.
@gavvet I don't know why you are always supporting to Mr @dcrypto but not fr us just support any one of my post !!
Absolutely #lighttheworld post really inspire me. Today discussed again more important topic @gavvet. I haven't idea before to buy new cloths and then share it to the poor peoples. Cloths is basic humans need. So if poor peoples haven't cloths to cover their body peoples must have to become attitude distribute them. I already share some food parcels before. But your #lighttheworld hash tag post changed my mind. Clothing has magical properties! Okay, maybe not literally but figuratively speaking, yes! it starts at a very young age. Do you remember playing dress up as a young child? Then I can guess idea how important cloths to our life.
"Revelation 3:18
I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see "
If we cannot arrange to clothes others by conducting collection drives for food, clothes one can help the poor and needy people. These collection drives can be conducted in schools, offices or locality and reaches to the neediest people. It is one of the easiest way to help the poor and needy people. Contact the organizations who work for poor people to find out.
Thank you for giving great opportunity to me. Stay blessed. Resteemed.
Initially, I did not plan to seriously engage in charity. But it all started with the fact that I was helping an orphanage from my city: who lacks basic things. My mother found out from the administration what was necessary and we brought them what they needed. Looking into the eyes of the kids can no longer stop, I want to give them everything just to make them happy. The main thing is to stay in the shadows and not let the needy help feel beneath your benefactor then this will be real help.
Well said and perfect post to discussion more. We can find more examples mentioned your title. More humans wasted much money for buy luxury garments and jewelries. Those Rich humans has high reputation maybe. Low reputation humans also like to showing their condition to others and then hope to return attraction from others. But Gods cannot accept these situation. I told to humans no need to happen difference of their life styles. Need to change mind and brain wash.
Please read this below Scripture.
Matthew 25:36
I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.
Look at above verse here nicely seems humans generosity. I have now generate new feelings after read your #lighttheworld posts. Encourage more steemians here. If we haven't ability to buy new clothes, look around your wardrobe. I think lot of clothes had non used. Take non-used clothes; handover to the laundry; after cleaning handover to beggars, poor humans, stay alone kids. look that moment, they will really happy and enjoy also say "thank you". Is that not enough??? Why?? one word more powerful.
Waiting your next blog post and stay blessed @gavvet.
Awesome reminder @gavvet. God bless all your effort.
Most of us are guilty of over-consumerism today. One of the things that most of us have is having more clothes than we actually needed. If I would look into my closet, I can collect together quite a pile of items that I haven’t looked at or used in over six months or even a year. Somehow, it’s very hard to get the time to collect these clothing items together, bag them up and get rid of them. Plus, many of the clothing are in excellent, almost new condition.
The value of donating used clothing is greater than it may appear at first glance. The impact is far-reaching, from the individual, to the community and to the environment. Perhaps the more that people become aware of the benefits of donating used items, the more they will do it.
Thank you once again. May this vision never die. All your labour would be rewarded.
Have a great day
Matt 25 vs 43
'' I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.''
This brings to my mind a potentially painful point, which I'll would have loved not to talk about, but I just have to – all those kids’ clothes we are storing in the basement for a potential future child, or the ones in our own closets that are too small but we hope will fit us again one day (if we can finally stick to that diet/exercise plan and lose weight) … maybe we shouldn’t be storing those “just in case.” Maybe we should be giving those away instead.
Obviously they are clothes that we like and think are worthy to be worn again. We wouldn’t keep them if we didn’t. But, they are not clothes that we have a current need for and we’re not even sure we will ever have a future need for them either. And there are people out there who do have current needs.
Let's trust God to handle our future needs, and then walk in faith by giving out these '' just in case'' clothes.
Matt 27 vs 28
'' They stripped off Jesus' clothes and put a scarlet robe[a] on him. ''
When Jesus was crucified, he was stripped of his garments in order to strip him of his dignity – to humiliate him.
When we clothe the naked, we are not only offering to them physical protection from the elements, but affirming their human dignity and worth and thus uplifting their souls.
Yes we might have some reasons not to give, but let's trust in God's ability to supply our reds when the time comes, and believe that we will have the money and clothes we need when we actually need them, so we can be free to give away the ones we don’t currently need to people who actually do.
And the world will surely become safer better and more prosperous.
The importance of clothing is illustrated by the status of clothes as the one of the first blessings God gives to Adam after he ate from the forbidden fruit. Not only do Adam and Eve use a leaf to cover themselves, but later in the Book of Genesis, God is described as giving them the skins of animals as gifts to cover themselves.
One very important point we should note is that we should launder dirty or soiled clothing first, and even fix clothes in bad condition before donating, such as torn items, buttons missing, broken zippers, etc.
Very nice post brother. Thanks for your post sharing us.resteem your post.
Along with things like food and shelter, clothing is a basic need. It covers us and can keep us warm. We can share with people to help them get the items they need.
@gavvet
Isa 58 vs 7
"Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?''
There are people in our own backyards, who cannot afford to replace their too-small pants and their sneakers with the large holes in the soles. Perhaps they aren’t literally naked, but their clothing is not adequate.
Pope Francis said that when we throw away food, we are taking it from the mouths of the poor. I wonder what he’d say about throwing away useful clothing. I imagine he would think it were equally unjust toward our brothers and sisters in need.
There are drop boxes for clothing donations popping up all over the place now. You can simply bag up the stuff you want to get rid of and take it to one of those drop boxes rather than throwing it in the trash, and someone else takes care of the “heavy lifting” of actually distributing it to those in need. So, none of us really has an excuse for throwing away clothing that can still be worn.
Let's together make the world a better place thus Christmas, thereby being a light to the world.

@gavvet - "[I was] naked, and ye clothed me." If whole world is decided to participate your concept this is a most blessed X'mas forever... Light the world is actually lighting our hearts to do goods Sir....
+W+ [UpVoted & ReSteemed]
#LightTheWorld is really lighting the world. Clothes are one of the major concern of humanity. Incredible thought you got there. Gd bless you & amen~
Donate old clothes it may be a reason to smile for someone.....
We are constantly cleaning out things and donating to thrift stores in our area. We need the room and the things are perfectly good and there is much need in this world. God bless us all!
Great to see this on steemit, thanks for sharing!
Greetings,
There is always someone around us who is in need of a piece of clothing, a blanket, some shoes, etc. There are children who go to school with their broken shoes and their transparent clothes of so much use. It is nice to see the smile when they receive not only a toy, also when you give them a piece of clothing or shoes, even when it is worn, for them it is as if it were new.
Usually a very low-income family never has to meet their dress needs, we can do a lot about it. As easy as going to the closet and take out what is in good condition that we no longer use and donate it to someone. That makes happy what you receive and also fills us with gratitude towards life and the fact that we have clothes. In my case I always do this activity with my children, many times someone comes to our door and we give them these clothes, sometimes we go to their homes.
As always you are blessed @gavvet because of how you teach us how to share blessings to other people. We will give old clothes to the less fortunate this Christmas.🎅🌲
Hebrews 13:16
16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. #lighttheworld
May you and your family always be blessed! ❤Resteemed.
Definitely #lighttheworld already did delightful all society. I feel stunning deeply my mind. Someone waste money for cheer parties and BBQ with liquors. I suggest, forget your enjoyable idea and buy new clothes and other satisfactory things when human needed, then give those gifts to low-wealth persons. We'll can be refer we have done better task. Low-wealth persons also think same thing. They will happy and enjoy. How about my concept. Thank you @gavvet.
May god bless you & Happy Christmas.
I am LDS and participating in the light the world campaign too! Thanks for #sharinggoodness I followed you :)
You always come up with very interesting and interesting subjects
Sometimes I dont wear my clothes, which I have missed for five years, to those who need a poor person who does not have the money to buy clothes and even to eat, and he has young children as well as orphans.
You can sell these clothes and come with money to give it to the poor and help the poor instead of throwing it and those who need the teachings of our Islamic religion and kindness and solidarity and give charity to the poor and needy and charity work is increasing in Ramadan, especially in the cold season we have to think about people who have nothing to wear and eat
We give them money, shelter, clothes and food
God says in the Koran:
(You will not get righteousness until you spend what you love and spend something, God knows him) Surat Al - Imran 92
You shall not be aware of righteousness, which is the righteousness of God, which they seek of Him by obeying Him and His worshipers to Him, and they will send him away from Him.
The most needy and the poor always wish to become rich like the rest of the human beings and we are in the cold season and winter We have to think about how to help poor and needy in various ways Instead of throwing your clothes, give them as a gift for them to express your help and support them
This world we live in is poor and rich. Good and good. Halal and Haram, especially in our Islamic religion, urged us to help the poor and support him in his plight
(And if the poor hide it and the poor do it, it is better for you) Surat elbakara
(Allah has heard the saying of those who said that God is poor and we are rich)Surat Al-Imran181
(And those who despise, they will not give up on themselves, and God is rich and you are the poor) Surah Muhammad 38
(For the poor migrants who were driven out of their homes and their money) Al - Hashr 8
This is a very important and very interesting subject. We have to give what we love to the needy and the poor, such as what I said warm clothes, instead of throwing them away. When we do not give them to the needy, there is someone who has nothing to wear and no food to eat.
an incredible topic of solidarity participation. @gavvet
hope this can be an inspiration for everyone.
I usually give clothes that no longer fits to me to my poor coz. Or participing in different charity activities that collect clothes to those who need them.
