RE: Books Review - Day 1

in #literature7 years ago

This book is the best Adichie has written IMO. Forget the plot. The messages on racism were rich and insightful

Romance just tagged along.

Sometimes, when i want to laugh, i open the page describing her father going from dressing corporate every morning to wearing singlet and tieing wrapper.

Sort:

Some people wouldn't agree. I read where someone said he couldn't believe that after Ifemelu slept with three men(?), Obinze still left his marriage for her.

Emotional much.

Felt a notch myself but it was for the KIDS (Obinze's).

Couldnt care less about those morons making love look like Everest.

Emotional, probably. But not the way you think. I believe they're upset that Ifemelu was 'wayward.' African men much.

The kid was fine. Obinze was very present in her life and the wife was there too.

I dont want to go for confession next Saturday so i wont lie that the idea she was 'wayward' never crossed my mind :P

the women-must-stay-loyal while men-can-play POV installed in us is NAFDAC certified

i am just lucky to have sisters whose POVs i use in crosschecking and questioning myself.

for the kid, well, i dont want to imagine growing up without mommy and daddy's cohesive unit. Obinze's "performing marriage" wasnt much of it anyway.

The novel is too real it made a lot of Nigerian men angry. Chimamanda spelled out what they didn't want to hear. LOL

I'll read it again whenever I have the time. The prose is too fine.

haha... yeah sure

The prose is too fine.

by a mile.
