Because I live in the Philippines, I witness almost daily generosities among the people here. I also witness greed.
I just received this message and was asked to share with everyone, so here it is... a shot of inspiration to those who need some.
The Egg Seller.
A lady walks up and asks, "How much are you selling the eggs for?"
The old seller replied, "$.25 an egg, Madam."
She said to him, "I will take 6 eggs for $1.25 or I will leave."
The old seller replied, "Come take them at the price you want. Maybe, this is a good beginning because I have not been able to sell even a single egg today."
She took the eggs and walked away feeling she had won. She got into her fancy car and drove to a posh restaurant with her friend. There, she and her friend, ordered whatever they liked. They ate a little and left a lot of what they ordered unfinished. Then she went to pay the bill. The bill was $45.00 and she gave $50.00 and told the owner of the restaurant to keep the change.
This incident might have seemed quite normal to the owner but, very painful to the poor egg seller.
The point is, why do we always show we have the power when we buy from the needy ones? And why are we quick to be generous to those who do not even need our generosity?
I once read somewhere where a person's father used to buy simple goods from poor people at high prices, even though he did not need them. Sometimes he would even pay extra for them. This person was concerned by this act and asked his father why does he do so? The father replied, "It is a charity wrapped with dignity, my child.”'

this is wonderful story that everyone should read becuase they might doing it without knowing it. We can't never find an act of kindness if we don't start it.
I do know of some foreigners that live here who might pay P40 for a haircut and tip the barber P50! It's good to know there definitely is a pay it forward mentality among a few of us.
Really people nowadays have become so heartless that they even don't give a second thought before over powering poor and needy people all they think is about show off,world is going to become hell were everyone is going to look for there happiness without thinking happiness comes by sharing and caring

The problem here is that the society we are in doesn't care about the poor. That is why the saying goes "the rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer" the reason is because the rich are rubbing the poor. But they are not to blame. It has been written "He that does not have, even the little he has shall be taken away from him" remembers the parable of the 10 talent told by our "Lord Jesus Christ" so let your light so shine so that it will not go off at the approach of darkness. Be sober, be vigilant because the adversary the devil worketh about seecking whom to devour. You must make hay while the sun shine because night commet and no man works. So, if you are standing on the lane of riches, you must be watchful so that you do not fall.
this is life, where people are always concerned with their peers who are equal, but always underestimate the small people, because the rich often think that the poor can not help him when in need, most people are more willing to give to the rich who not needing rather than sharing it to the hungry poor, I am very sad to see such a situation, the moral value is very weak, but I am happy to see the wealthy rich
Honestly, if a world calamity befell us, I would feel much better off with the people that surround me in my village. They have not much, but they know how to survive.

I'd be willing to bet you sometimes do the same, but when in Thailand I often gave some extra to the seller at street markets and the like. My wife (who is Thai) often didn't like it, but eventually came to see my point when explained that the extra is only $0.30 for us (or even $1 or $2), but is a meal for the seller - who likely doesn't make much money to begin with. It wasn't any hardship for us, and I hope in some cases it helped people, at least through a spirit of generosity.
Yes, I believe we are all guilty from time to time. The point is that we should all be more conscious about things like this.
