Thanks for bearing with me, dear readers.

in #m2c7 years ago

I've been in a transitional period in my life.

My non-profit hasn't been properly attended to, shut down for way too long.

My posts have deteriorated in quality.

No bout a doubt it, the home team is looking weak.

That will change when I get resituated in something more permanent.

I have been living out of a backpack for almost 4 years.

However, I don't think that the fall off in rewards can be attributed entirely to my personal flux.

When I get situated I will take the time to begin learning the code that lets me gather the data I would really like to see make it to the front page, not that it will.

Maybe the data will set my doubts to rest.

I hate thinking that folks are just greedy, but we know that greedy people are out there.

Crapitalism is the game and I would expect the best social media to attract the best crapitalusts.

Just kinda follows, eh?

My initial question will be why have the payouts dropped off so much.

I think the top is sucking it up, again.

I hope I am wrong, but this place is giving me the same feeling I had back before the whale experiment.

Any of you that remember can attest that when the whales give it all to their partners everybody else lost ground.

Getting rewards was nearly unheard of for minnows.

Kinda like curation rewards are getting now.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the propaganda I got fed when I first got here was that @dantheman and @ned had created this space to release code that could help free the world from the tyranny of the banksters.

Now, to be consistent in that endeavor, it seems to me, that watching the top 10% make bank daily is counter revolutionary.

I get that the devs need paid for their time, but curie got shot down for being patently unfair.

When sp delegation went live the power to obscure curie's objectives behind delegations not easily revealed from the blockchain, nor found on third party websites, was made possible.

It looks to me that the greedy waited a while to slowly start turning up the heat bringing the pan to a boil.

Maybe I am wrong, but it doesn't look like anybody is going to respond to my questions.

Either, I have succeeded in alienating anybody willing to help, or the beneficiaries of the scheme have silenced those in a position to tell me.

None of this would be possible without tremendous altruism on the part of the whales that bought their way in.

Without them none of this is here to be embraced.

This altruism also has to be embraced by those that hit the trending page every time they post.

How much is too much?

100,000usd a month?

10,000usd a month?

How much is enough?

It seems to me that when 20usd makes life easy for many steemizens we would want to stretch the long tail as far as we could.

Rather than voting popular people into the lower stratosphere, it seems to me that we should spread the love as wide as possible?

I know the conformist gene is strong in nearly all of us, and encouraged by the power structure and platform, but it falls on all of us to seek out more than just the platform's icons to reward, imo.

I couldn't not have said it better. Im new but it's clear that those with the most steem power win. And with curation it seems like the minnows are just helping the whales keep their posts at high value. There are some who for good reason have growing organic followings and have done well. But there are far too many whose posts or only valued do to their wealth. This is far from releasing people from the tyranny of banks. Just another game.

I agree, if this platform is to be the new boss, it needs to not repeat the patterns of the old boss.

Minnows here are not meant to get in too easy, one has to work at it.
I get that.
What I don't get is the old guard circling wagons to keep the newbies out.
That is decidedly unfriendly, imo.

Excellent post. I get the same feeling (as you are aware). And I will not invest anything more than my time and content until I see some sort of fair balance being implemented (or until a better alternative worth sinking "real" money into comes along).
Be safe out there!

Really loved your post -Loving Caring Thanks

I find it interesting how "positive" you sound, for some one who is living out of his backpack for 4 years.

i don't know if I would do the same.

Just doing what I think loving caring people would do.

I got no real beef with the circumstances that have led here because I don't really do malice well.
I'd rather gather data, brainstorm a solution, and see it to fruition, if I can.

Solve the problem rather than assign blame.

I agree, be a part of the solution and not the problem. But that's easier said then done.

It has taken me decades to get here.
Still I struggle when I don't have/take adequate time to respond.
Just negotiating the learning curve, I guess.

Steemit is the first working model. More Cryptocurrency sites will come. Sites like Musicoin will be revolutionary for musicians if they gain traction. I don't trust @dantheman or @ned. Anybody holding an absurd an amount of wealth is NOT to be trusted. Ever. Keep up the good work @freebornangel

Thanks for your kind words @chromacelestial.

Hello friend @freebornangel , great post, congratulations, keep it up
