The cabin is really sweet Francis!
I think it would fit nicely on the hill overlooking the valley.
Do you need heat during the winter months where you're thinking of locating it and will it be off-grid?

Rebecca. We would want a basement. The morning sun would shine right in. That is what we are thinking.
Whether it would make sense to add the little barn/cabin on top of the basement?
I don't know. I would like to have concrete all around it if it was placed on a basement.
I guess we will find out. That is a least one year away and maybe up to three years or more.
We like off-grid. The electric service in our area is expensive. Way above average price for
electric service. Solar would make more sense. It would be less expensive over time.@rebeccaryan

A basement is definitely going to give you more usable space. What is the approximate square footage of the cabin you've shown in the photo?
I didn't measure it. We had stopped in to look at it on the way to the Miller's bulk and bakery stores.
Likely 12 X 12 or 144 sq. ft.
But, if anyone wanted one larger. They build them just down the road about
two miles or so. They are Amish built. So they would surely build larger.
I think 16 X 24 would be good. But, if trusses had to be added.
Up goes the cost . lol
They are very attractive on the outside though.@rebeccaryan

The house we currently live in is 850 square feet. 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, open concept dining room, living room with a separate kitchen. Full basement underneath with a walk-out. We are in the process of adding solar to it. I do think this is a very efficient way to live, especially if you can reduce as many of your fixed costs as you can.@knarly327 said that he thought you should consider extending the basement out past the porch of the cabin so that you can have a cold room.
All options are on the table at this point. Nothing ruled out. Very early stages of planning.
We should sell our house in Florida. And if we have anything in Florida. Maybe a condo.
Another thing is with all my winning trades. Anything is possible. Ha
Winning joke of the day. And the joke is on me. lol
I like solar. It is much less to construct now than what it used to be.
And the cost savings over time would be a lot. For our area anyway.@rebeccaryan
