Last year when I visited Calgary Stampede I didn't know about Friday market contest on steemit.
Somehow I find a couple of photos for you just to get a glimpse into a different culture of North America.
With years passing some original stuff mixed with modern but it's nice to see how time changes perspectives.
I'm expecting an interesting and juicy comment on this one from my expert friend @janton from Texas.
Native art on display and sale.
Way, way overpriced in my opinion.
Here's some real stuff.
Jurassic Park?
Canadians are prohibited to wear Indian plume which I could understand,
but what about this guy?
But hey, who am I to be a judge?
I wonder where he's hiding his cellphone.
Have a great weekend, my friends.
may be this people celebrate, festival day. thanks for share.
LOL
Police service tent looks amazing. I wonder how you call 911 in smoke signals ;)
hahaha nice picture in my mind :-D
Picture no 3, 4, & 5 markets really awesome. Can all market open daily?
Howdy sir oldtimer! haha, I'm no expert but I've studied alot of old photos and those tepees there are the real deal. Check out this one, this photo is from 1890, it's a Blackfoot tepee. Look how similar it is:

Usually the tops are blackened from smoke coming out but those are exact replicas. Great photos by the way and thanks for the mention!
Awesome shots thats a Market I Would love to visit, I have been to one Similar market here a year or so ago and loved seeing the Teepees and native art, but we spent most of our time listing to the drumming and dancing

This was such an interesting post, mixing the cultures living in the same space.
Unfortunately, because of the negative global pressure to shed the term Indian they decided to retire the Indian Village after the 2018 Stampede and rename the site Elbow River Camp.
What a wonderful piece of history here, and yes! Those teepes look truly like they should.
In the US, people of Indian heritage were the only ones allowed to wear the plumage, others were thrown in jail or heavily fined. The population was endangered and that was one of their ways of doing it. Now, they have made a comeback!
I have lived out in Arizona and I had many friends who were nurses on the reservations. We went to a lot of pow-wows and I was fascinated by the wild abandon in which they danced and chanted. I am pretty sure that it didn't hurt to take a hit on that peace pipe, in retrospect.
I hope you get to go again this year and let us know if it was a name change only. Thank you for putting together a most fascinating #MarketFriday for the challenge today. Very much appreciated and as always, I hope you have a most wonderful weekend!
