RE: Thank You For Helping Me Reach 70 Rep! // 20 SBD Giveaway – Building Community

in #milestone6 years ago

Hi @coruscate, congrats on the milestone. I've recently just turned 40 reputation, having only been on the Steem blockchain for just over 1 month now. I agree with you, it is humbling to understand how reputation works here, and that it is totally dependent on other people's interactions with me. Nothing that I can do directly influences my reputation, so my rise here thus far is totally due to how others perceive me. That said, I'm not surprised to hear of your own success in the reputation stakes. The content that you produce is inspirational!

As to writing something about myself, well, that's pretty easy. Having been here such a short time, not too many people know much about me anyway. Let's review what I have shared on this platform already first: I live in West Auckland, New Zealand; I'm a GNU/Linux user, currently running Trisquel v8.0; I'm male; I've been married for almost 18 years. I think that's about it for the bare facts known about me, haha. To add to that collection of facts here, I'm from a blended family, I was the eldest of three siblings originally, but I got demoted to second eldest of five when my mother died and my father remarried, some 45 years ago now.

Sort:

Thats a big family you have there! I have 1 sibling. Checked out your site, I look forward to battling you with @steemmonsters!

Thanks, yes it was quite a large family, especially when we all showed up at the same clubs or groups when we were young.

As for #SteemMonsters, well, I don't think I'll be ready for battle any time soon. My monster army is currently presided over by only two summoners, and I haven't raised enough Steem to even buy the Starter Set  yet, so all the monsters I have so far have been donated. I'm giving away my double-ups to new players rather than leveling them up at present, as a way to #payitforward and thank those who have been so generous to me. Hopefully this way, at least, I can contribute to the game's ecosphere by bringing in new blood.

Thank for sharing your story on my post friend and also sharing more info here on the page! New Zealand is such a beautiful place to live and I am glad that you have found someone to share your life with for 18 years. You are winning in a big way my friend. I can't wait to see what steemit has in store for you and vice versa. Keep it up my friend!

Thanks @mainos12345. Even at my advanced age now, I still have experiences that you would no doubt be able to identify with from your work with kids on the Spectrum. I was very fortunate to meet and fall in love with a wonderful woman who could put up with me, haha. It was actually because of her (even before we got married) that I was formally diagnosed as being on the Spectrum. Her tertiary studies led to a hypothesis on her part, which eventually drove me to prove her wrong (as I used to say to her, "my ass is not a burger!"  😄), which turned out to be the best thing for me, as she was very definitely proven right! I have relished my diagnosis ever since then.

So nice for you to share this part of your life with us @trisquelwhare. It must have been tough losing your mom; it is not always an easy thing to lose a loved one. I will really like to know more about you.

Thanks @hermannsol. It wasn't easy for me, back then, that's for sure. In fact, even today I live with the effects of it psychologically. I didn't mention it earlier, but it wasn't just that my mother died when I was a young child, it was that I saw her die, which really affected me. The most noticeable effect on me of that time is my speech. The shock of this tragic event caused a permanent stutter, which I still have to this day, and is why I don't often get onto live chat sessions or livestreams online. I might record some videos at some time in the future, but they will be heavily edited, haha.

So sorry to hear about that..
You are going to make me cry. I just picture my self in your place, what you must have gone through.
Thank God you were able to go through it all.

Nah, don't feel sorry for me. As Nietzsche famously said, and in the words of Kanye West, "That that don't kill me, can only make me stronger."

That's right..
Glad to hear that.

Hi there! This is a top Steem Monster fan right here and he also produces a lot of NICE Art work! :-)
