Thank You For Helping Me Reach 70 Rep! // 20 SBD Giveaway – Building Community

in #milestone6 years ago (edited)

Hi Friends,

I am feeling so many emotions right now! ahhh!

I am just creeping up on my 1 year mark on the platform and can hardly believe all the ways my life has changed in this last year. Hitting 70 rep feels like more than just a milestone number, but more of an emotional sense of arriving. I feel humbled, grateful, excited, and hopeful for everything that is still to come.

This Last Year Has Been Life Changing

I can honestly say that being here on Steemit this last year has changed my life. It has shifted my entire perspective for what is possible in terms of living the kind of life I truly desire. It has also helped me uncover a passion that I had no idea I had – making content. When I first joined the platform, I just kind of stumbled around trying different things, and have just continued to grow and evolve as time passed. Now, making video content is my favorite part in the day. I honestly have so much fun filming, editing, coming up with video ideas and then getting to put it all together into a piece of content that I can be proud of.

Steemit has opened so many doors of connection for me as well. I have made so many incredible friends, some of which I have even met in person! I loved getting to connect more deeply with everyone at the Steem Creators Conference in Vegas – and I even just had @daveonarrival drive up to Bellingham to visit me and my sister @maryjaney!

More than just the friendships alone, I find that being surrounded by so many intelligent, free thinking, creative souls is really inspiring to my own journey and creativity. The collective energy of this many great people coming together makes me so excited to log in everyday and hang out.

Thank You

I know I usually end my videos saying “love you guys!”, but I really want you to know how grateful I am for each person who decides to leave a comment, follow my channel or honor me with their vote. I feel so optimistic for the future of this platform and know that we will just continue to explode with opportunities.

I don’t know if it’s cheesy to do a shout-out list…but I want to make sure I say a special thank you to all of the people who have positively impacted my time on the platform. I also really hope I don’t miss anyone!

I hope each of you on this list (and anyone even reading this post) feels like they are getting a virtual hug from me. Maybe one day I’ll be able to give you a real one! (Steem Creators Toronto…. Steemfest?)

@raised2b, @maryjaney, @littlescribe, @crowbarmama, @steemmatt, @goldmatters, @karensuestudios, @larrymorrison, @steemcafe, @ogc, @scottshotts, @surfermarly, @daveonarrival, @bonniepiese, @paolajane, @spenceryan, @alphasteem, @bethwheatcraft, @jimmylin, @aggroed, @brian.rrr, @nanzo-scoop, @kpine, @thejohalfiles, @dnews, @curie, @zainenn, @mainos12345, @reseller, @waybeyondpadthai, @michelmake, @felix.herrmann, @thehoneys, @denmarkguy, @rodneysreviews, @ianperic, @drewley, @happymoneyman, @kenmelendez, @soykatonline, @pennsif, @darrenclaxton, @hedge-x, @ajvest, @tfeldman, @karenmckersie, @ralk98, @aussieninja, @luzcypher, @soundlegion, @meno, @nonameslefttouse, @canadian-coconut, @riverhead, @everlove, @saramiller, @quinneaker, @nomadicsoul, @anomadsoul, @skyleap

Wow, I could seriously keep going! How are there so many awesome people all in one spot online?? Virtual hugs to you all. <3

20 SBD Giveaway – Contest Rules

From the very beginning, I decided that anytime I did some kind of “milestone moment” post – I was going to make it a giveaway. The only reason I have any kind of milestone to announce is because of all of your love and support anyway, so it just feels right to give back.

Anyone who has participated in one of my giveaways before, knows that I like to keep them super simple – and do something that is somehow community building in nature. So far, I have done a different topic every time – but today I’m bringing back my favorite contest I have ever run! I ran this contest a few months ago and it is honestly my favorite post I have done in my entire year on the platform.

The point of this contest is to help us get to know each other better and hopefully find common connections with fellow steemians!

Here are the rules to be entered:

  • Leave a comment telling us something about yourself. It could be a fun fact, a hobby or passion, how many siblings you have, your first job… doesn’t matter! Get creative and share something that helps us get to know you better.
  • Reply to at least one other comment on this post. I don’t want people to just “post and run”. The whole idea is to build a space for connection – so make sure you engage with at least one other person!

That’s it! Simple right?

The Prize Pool Breakdown

I usually give away 10 SBD in my giveways – but I decided to double it this time! Instead of one person getting 10 – I’m going to break it up and have 4 people win 5 SBD.

  • 5 SBD – Random draw from eligible entries.

  • 5 SBD – Random draw from eligible entries.

  • 5 SBD – Random draw from eligible entries.

  • 5 SBD – MVP Award

The first three winners will just be randomly drawn – but I will be hand picking the fourth one. I will be choosing an MVP (most valuable player) from the commenters or someone who I thought did a really great job connecting with a lot of different Steemians on the post. It won’t be an exact science of who left the most or the longest comments – but just someone that I really felt put an honest effort to connect.

Big Love To You All

I just want to say one last huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey with me. Joining Steemit is one of the best decisions I have ever made and I am so grateful for each of you.

If you have any questions about the contest – please let me know. Otherwise, I can’t wait to read all of your comments and get to know you guys even better!

XO, Lea

First off let me say congrats. 70 is a big deal. Not as big as 71 but you deffinatly got one up on 69. I was sitting here reading posts to my super pup rosco (he is the dog in the pic , though he is sometimes confused with the pillow) anyways i was trying to teach him english because he only speaks spanish but when i let him know he had a virtual hug inbound he let out a very loud bark/ yelp and fainted. I wish i could tell you what he said before fainting but I don't speak Spanish. 20180714_013625.jpg

Nice cat

It's a new breed. Texas long ear.

Interesting reptile. Is it a man or a woman

It actually self-identifies as an attack helicopter.

Oh, so it's a cow that's nice

Pepe approves this doggo

Sweet dreams ^^

I like trump

I like that he doesn't back down because people say he should. Trump is confident in who he is.

I'm a deplorable here. Live in a blue state that we turned red in 2016.. and PROUD of it

I knew I liked you for some reason but i could not put my finger on it untill now @goldendawne. Also my other peeps all in one spot. Mister @trumpman and my write in witness @valorforfreedom.

We gonna put this comment at the top.

Lol, thanks 😂😂

Thanks DDC!

congrats! Been seeing you on the trending page. Should have invested more time in Dtube! CONGRATS! I started over a year ago and still try to find my niche! I love chocolate as well ;)

DTube is doing great things for a lot of people! I love seeing success through Steem :)

DTube seems to have its issues, but seems that people are building followings without needing the polish of more mainstream content producers... seeing the success like our friend @coruscate is actually becoming a bit of a motivator to actually sack up and start posting clips...

Always grind it out! Everyday dtube gets better and better, Stack away!

If that is your goal, I wish you the best of luck in achieving it!

It is a "goal" in the sense that the goal is to reach and start the discussions with as many people with open minds that will hear.

It is not a goal to gain any level of "fame" or "infamy", just that, I know that it is easier to get people to engage in a few minutes clip than it is to capture an audience in text.

The hold back is more that it is also easier to scrutinize my mug, my accent, and each "um", "err", a near cuss word. Where in text, as long as it's generally written to be understandable, I am satisfied.

If that is your goal,
I wish you the best of luck
In achieving it!

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Yeah me too. Although......... I would like to say that I kind of missed the DTube train but frankly I am not much of vlogger.

After seeing @coruscate and some others on Dtube its a bit daunting to try to make video of similar calibre.

You niche is your life if you do a vlog. No one else has your life.

Yeah cool, this is what i'm looking for on Steemit. A few months ago my friend introduced me on the steem community, telling me that i could get reward for posting pictures and video. I opened an account and i've got started. In the begin i was just having fun and i was trying to see if my content were appreciated from the community. Then something happened. I'm a person that observe a lot, it just comes naturally and it happens even if i don't want to, and i observe what's happening within myself but also around me. I guess this is caused from my high sensitive personality, anyhow, one day while i was creating a content i've noticed, or maybe i should say i felt, that my connection with the platform was giving me something more than just a reward. Long story short, otherwise i talk to much, through steemit i realised that photography and blogs are not just something i like to do but they are a passion for me, which goes along with another passion i always had, traveling. End of the story, i'm using steemit to learn how to get better in photography and, to speak and write English more fluent, because it's my second language. All those events brought me to a conclusion, actually they brought me to make a plan. Next year, i want to go on a journey around the world, and i want to document it through vlog, photos and blogs. I love to meet people and i love to document what's happens around the world and, i especially love to share what i learn from those esperiences because in the past, by doing that, i was inspiring people and that makes me happy and grateful. Happiness is on top of the list for me and i want to bring light in other people's life. Not everyone get the chance to leave the comfort zone and understand the benefit you can get from it. Traveling teach you a lot about life and since a left Italy and i start a new life in Australia, my mind awakened and brought me to find a bettet version of myself and i want to just help others find their best version. This is pretty much it, i reckon :) Sorry if i talk to much but after reading your post @coruscate, i've got inspired and i had to write my thought. I hope you folks can understand my English, i've done my best. I really appreciate what you are doing Lea, because Steemit need more content like this one, where people can connect with each other and there is less fakeness in the comment. There are already enough masks in the real life, we don't need more. I wish you all a beautiful journey in the platform, ciao ciao

That is something that I love about steemit too. People come here expecting to earn money but tend to stay here for more than that. I really appreciate the way Steemit provides a positive outlet for our creative energies but what I appreciate even more is the fact that sometimes we find our creativity here.

I always had a knack for writing rhymes. I would write them on random pieces of paper and leave them be or burn them. I just did not like sharing them with others. Here on steemit, when the pressure of writing posts built up, I started posting my rhymes here and thus eventually shared a few of them with this world.

😂😂 That is exactly how my steemit journey started. Trippy! And since then I've also been experimenting with some ideas, guess it just shows how real and relatable people can be on steemit.

That too...............found so many people that I am able to connect with. It makes me wonder if I'll meet some of them in real life. Its not an impossibility and probably much easier to happen than we might think :-)

Same here and who knows, I've been seeing lots posts about steemian meet ups lately so I'm sure a bunch of us are bound to meet. What's for certain is that I'm here for it.

Nice....

I forgot to say something, congratulations @coruscate for your achievement, i'm not surprised you already reach 70 rep, you have talent and your contents are the proof, good on ya

I loved what you wrote, as I wrote in my commentary for this contest, I am a very sensitive person who loves life, very positive, and I find all this in your lines. You have great energy, which is the kind of vibe I like to get along with. What a good idea for the friend @coruscate to seek a better relationship between her followers.
I wish you every success in whatever you set out to do and I will keep an eye on your publications, I hope you will be the first person I keep in touch with over time thanks to a contest ; )
Greetings

Couldn't agree more! There is so much fakeness in the comments. But through this kind of idea conducted by @coruscate we have more chance to know each other. Saying hi and be ourselves.

hi im doghouse and i was disappointed by the Godfather part 2

That's really wonderful to hear about your experience on steemit @coruscate ! I only just started this month and am feeling rather disheartened by the lack of exposure from my posts and felt that it was very much a boysclub or for tech ppl. So to see a young woman reach 70 is pretty inspirational! And I like how it's at random (for 3 of them) and not just whales upvoting whales.

As for me, I'm a mama of two, an educator and am a lover of all things creative. Be it theatre, film, music, scrapbooking, photography - you name it, I love it! I also love travelling, can't wait to visit your part of the world soon - I did once apply for a job there :)

Patience, little by little you will be able to advance more in Steemit, luck!

Regards!

Oh don't get discouraged! Stick with it!
I'd love to see some of your scrapbooking (maybe make a few posts) there is a huge community for crafts, DIYers and How-to tags on steemit.

Oh great idea! will do @goldendawne

Hi there! Welcome to Steem! I have been on here everyday for a year now, lol! It is truly a place filled with opportunity! I am sending you a free pack of Steem Monster cards,it's a new game on the Steem Blockchain, very fun and real crypto! There are lots of women who are into Steem Monsters! I just sent you a free pack of Steem Monster booster cards, they are fun to open! Go to steemmonsters.com to view them. :-)

Love meeting creatives. Nothing good comes easy... Keep on grinding. Feels that way for like 99% of people on steemit, so you aren't aloneLove meeting creatives. Nothing good comes easy... Keep on grinding. Feels that way for like 99% of people on steemit, so you aren't alone

4D96800A-3105-4CD2-A2CB-7E36419EBE4E.jpeg I’m trying to do for you what you did for me by leaving that beautiful tribute comment on my similar post ^ ...... @coruscate you freaking rock and I couldn’t be more pleased to have someone with my in this Jobby that is such and awesome coworker (haha) and friend. Congratulations a million times over. This will probably be the last time we have the same rep as you now will catapult far beyond me in that category and im thrilled to see it :) for the contest: one thing about me people should know is I am #steemibestiesforlife with @coruscate!

wow!!! i find it inspiring that you two are steemibestiesforlife with @coruscate! i love your friendship! you both rocks!

Thank you! I can already tell that you also rock :)

naaaaaahhhh.. not as good as you!

@coruscate, can’t you do this weekly? It’s so much fun! I need to go to bed, but this is too exciting :p

totally agree mate, i like this interaction with the community. I had a laugh when i saw your comment, you sounds like me, i try every night to go to bed earlier because i have to wake up at 5, but guess what? i get always excited and i go to to bed late :)

Congratulations @goldmatters, so happy for you too. You guys are truly amazing! How did you do it? Wishing you greater times ahead.

Thank you so much, I had a lot awesome support along the way, but coruscate kicks my butt as a content creator !

.

you can call me your girlfriend @endless.drugs because i find her cute too!

Ohhhh is so cute... sometimes cooking together is a disaster but is a funny time

I liked your story!

What an emotional note of thanks and congratulations at the same time. This makes me see that there is good human material around here, and achieving a reputation of 70 carries with it a lot of work and qualities needed to get there.
Greetings

This is what I learned from you after watching the full 08:30 minutes.

-Positivity makes you likable
-Gratefulness shows an appreciation for gifts & life

I have also found a couple of very ambitious people here on Steem for example @humanearl, @bethwheatcraft, @kawaiicrush, @reseller, @teutonium, @Zakludick, @Dnews and @toddjsmith1979.

Writing a comment about me, so here you go: I deal with social anxiety since I have grown up with people laughing about me for my shaking hands which made me avoid people for a long time. I have just started to face situations where my hands are in the focus and tell people honestly why that is. This is not easy for me but I am tired of hiding this aspect of me.

This is my favorite quote: “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” —Emerson.

Congratulations to reputation 70 and thank you for sharing what you have learned :)

If you want to work together in the future in the form of an interview on a livestream then just contact me, I would love to get to know you better.

Best Regards,
Phil

I completely agree with you. If we were grateful for all the blessings we enjoy, we would not have time to complain.
You are a very brave person to assume your fears and learn to deal with them, this helps you mature and face life better.
Everyone has their fears, so you're no different than anyone else.
Greetings.

Thank you Syllem, I appreciate those words.

I am still battling with social anxiety but funny thing is i feel powerful behind a phone or laptop. I can connect, make deals and make friends but from phone calls to physical meetings, i start getting goosebumps. I hope i outgrow it.

keep steeming,
@soorefunmi

Same here, we have to embrace the fear and see it as an opportunity to grow and train courage.

Word up for the ambitious!

Cogratulations @coruscate on the rep 70!

One of my long term goals!

Sup Zak 😎

Sup Phil! :D

Hey Valor! Fancy seeing you here! @valorforfreedom =D

Sup Stephany :D

Congratulation on 70! Jobby, I like it, I agree. Lol my phone talks back to me all the time!

Contest Entry - I joined steemit at rock bottom and STEEM has turned me around. Something you all may not know is I ride a motorcycle, unfortunately until recently I had not been able to get a new battery for it. Motorcycle ride videos in the future! Don't worry, I wont use a selfie stick while riding.

The whole "Jobby" thing just makes me want to start scatting bebop jazz style whenever I say it in my head. . .

Haha! Yeah, don't use the selfie stick on the bike, that could end bad. I miss my motorcycle... Looking forward to seeing some of your riding vids. Glad STEEM has helped turn your life around. I've been enjoying your videos when I have time to kick back and enjoy @dtube. Keep up the great work @zainenn!

Hey man, thanks for the reply! Up until know I have kept my academical inclinations separate from steemit and I don't know why. But I will make more of an effort to showcase some of my work at the university here on Steemit :-)

Rock bottom you say - Its weird how life can bring a bunch of different experiences to our tables. I actually joined Steemit in January, after riding out the December crypto high. It's been a bit of downhill journey for my portfolio but I have loved being on steemit ever since :-)

Personally I'm not a motorcycle lover, but I can´t say that I wouldn't love to ride one at full speed... the adrenaline must be amazing.

Good to know, safety first!

I see a goPro helmet cam in your future.... 😉

hii @coruscate I am new at steemit . I am read your blog that was quite interesting. You make a great friend on steemit. I hope so helps other to grow on steemit and you also help some people that they really want to grow on steemit. And most important big love to you dear

The rules say I need to reply to another user to be eligible for the prize, so here I am, replying to another comment!

this is how we make friends lol

Haha..same here...I am too following this rule...

Wow you are new to steemit for only a Month and you are doing SO WELL congrats!!
btw what is your tag mgsc? I am curious because you tag that one all the time.
thanks! :)

Lol look what we posted at the exact same time! ( ill come back with a real comment later)

Wooooah no way!! Haha what are the chances? #steemitbestiesforlife

lol!!! I can hardly believe it. Its perfect that we celebrate this at the EXACT same time:)

Can't believe the number of comments on this post - It's amazing. I am actually monitoring this post to see how high we can reach.

....... I am really-really hoping for atleast five hundred.

@coruscate broke the internet !

Ha ha! I think that she really did. Kind of makes me think what happens after another year of this :-)

@coruscate, you said it was a jobby. I hope you still think the same after going through all the comments later. The comment section is exploding! This is the greatest give-away I ever joined :)

Thats a great way to get people to go to your page and check out what you posted lol...which I will!

Posted using Partiko Android

Ha ha that wasnt my intention .... well it was but just for @coruscate :)

Sorry for the mistake downvote @goldmatters, busy really sucks ....aargh, I meant to upvote.

No problem :) Don’t sweat the small stuff @elsiekjay !

Partiko is a great app!

hahahaha i just headed over your wall!

Yes indeed :)

Hi friend! Well, I'm a lawyer and I work in finance, and I'm based in New York City and I work remotely and I live wherever I want and do pretty much whatever I want 🙂 I've been traveling around the world the last 5 1/2 years in South America Europe Southeast Asia and the US. That’s the scoop 😍 another good post btw

Work remotely, that's something I really want to do when I grow up! Can't wait to try that one day! Are you self-employed? As a world traveler, what is your favorite spot (or list of spots)?

Come join the digital nomad revolution bro! I really love Bali, Medellin (Colombia), Budapest, Brazil, it's hard to pick favorites really but if you or others reading this are looking for an amazing entree you should check out Freedom X Fest, which starts in mid-August and goes for a week in the Pyrenees mountains in Spain, it's going to be an amazing outdoor festival of digital nomads with amazing speakers and events and networking, a total blast. I'm not putting it on myself (though I am going), so here's a link to it: https://freedomxfest.com/

Ah, that sounds awesome! I'm from the Netherlands so it wouldn't be too far to go there. And it's also a great excuse to do some climbing/hiking in the Pyrenees :) Ticket prices are quite steep though :s

I'm going to Europe within the next week or two, possibly will get up to Holland this time but I'm not sure. Anyway maybe you can join something else, there are tons of events coming up like Nomad Cruise, you and also check out Remote Year or just take a trip to Ubud Bali and throw yourself in, the community there is out of this world welcoming, and people are making awesome careers they love while eating everything organic and vegan, it's a sweet yoga/spiritual vibe and a massage or two every day for $5 each lol. I'm also thinking about Steemfest in Toronto in September :)

That is a sweet kist of stuff! Keep me posted on your plans in Europe, who knows.. In toronto you would be able to see @coruscate do a talk there I believe. Im curently working toward finishing a PhD. After that I can go wherever! Just a little while longer though before that happens :)

yep, i woulnd't mind working remotely too:)

Well done sir, you must have worked your ass off to get there. I hope to have the same liberties someday after working my ass off to earn it.

Most of the world is super inexpensive man! If you're into it just go to Bali or Medellin and build your business there while spending 90% less and living a super high-quality lifestyle :)

WOW! what's the place which amazed you the most?

It's hard to say! every place is so unique, but I really love Bali, Medellin, Brazil, Budapest :)

Wow... I hope i get a job that allows me travel anywhere i want to. Your job sounds like fun, being a lawyer and working with money, lol.

keep steeming,
@soorefunmi

Thanks, I agree! It's a wild, wonderful old world. Keep steeming as well :)

I like the idea that you live wherever you want.. you just nailed life! Its probably a dream job, you work what you love and you get to go to places. Enjoy your life, you are at your prime.

Speaking of Asia, in what countries are you planning to visit?

cheers!

Thanks for the kind words @maquemali! I was just in Manila in April for the second time, love it there but I definitely need to explore the rest of the country :)

wow really?! yes do come back for the 3rd 4th and 5th times haha.. there are a lot for you to discover..

So awesome that you get to work remote. My husband does too, so when we got tired of California, we looked at what we really wanted and what kind of life we wanted to experience with our kids and chose a beautiful place in the woods. We do get a lot of snow in the winter, but between his working from home and homeschooling the kids, it's just part of the adventure! However, we recently took a long vacation to visit famiy and he was able to work as he pleased, so we could be very flexible so long as he had internet available. :-)

OH YES!!! Working from heme remotely has such grand advantages! Looking forward to when my husband retires and we can travel s little or move more rural and I can continue working from home.

Sounds like a beautiful spot you and your husband have chosen out in the woods, have you posted any pics? I'd be interested in the snowy ones. I use the remote work to travel but it's really about being location independent and going/being where you want and living on your own terms. Some call that the definition of retirement :) Good on you!

Yes, we decided we did not want to wait for retirement to live the life we wanted. 😁signal-2017-12-25-220506-3.jpg

I'll have to find a better snowy photo for you, but this is what I could find on my phone. That's my view from the house, beautiful trees & Mountains. But in the summer there are tons of lakes & rivers nearby for kayaking and fishing. 😁 Best of both worlds.

Beautiful

Thank you.

Man you're living such a glorious lifestyle and like @maquemali said you've definitely nailed life. Kudos!!

Thanks @ange.nkuru! Hope you're having a killer life yourself! :)

Man you're living such a glorious lifestyle and like @maquemali said you've definitely nailed life. Kudos!!

We must exert ourselves for what we want with our lives and make the best decision to our happiness.

Absolutely. I'm in the midst of reading "Atlas Shrugged" and what you've written ilnes up with the theme of the book!!

.

Thanks @endless.drugs! I've only been to Santiago in Chile, but I just googled Iquitos, isn't it in Peru? :)

Yo awesome! Congrats on reaching 70 rep! That's a major milestone.

I guess if I want to say something about myself, its that my goal in life is to help everyone on Earth achieve their first spike on kendama, and learn the joy that it creates. Spreading love one spike at a time.

The future is bright! Keep on Steeming and keep on growing to new heights!

Well I have no idea what Kendama is, but it sounds mystical and magical, I'd like to learn more...I guess since it's in your name I could just check out your blog to get my first spike of it? Sounds cool!

That would be a great place to check out! I hope you can experience the joy kendama has brought to my life.

just searched kendama and got to know a lot about its history, great to see you educating about it and spreading it to the world, i am also an ancient science/culture lover and i would love to know more about other's history too! :)

Ha ha! had to google kendama to see what you are talking about :-) I then realized that I have seen it on Anime and YouTube.

It's weird that there are so many things that we know of and yet never seek out to know, what its name is.

Thanks to Steemit, I have been able to bring more and more people into the world of kendama. I hope one day you can be one of them as well!

I won't promise anything but I'll try to look up some more about it. Who knows, it might catch my fancy in a big way :-)

BTW - Love you profile picture :-)

I’m going to have to visit Dr Google now to find out what that is.

Yes I was sort of hoping that you might follow my name to see what it is, but Google always works! It is a fun and simple toy, that yet has immense levels of complexity.

I never heard of kendama.. so i asked my EX Google, and he gave me this.
maxresdefault (1).jpg

i presume that you need to acquire skills to do that. what exactly the things it can create?? im curious? hehe

Aww you are amazing!! You are the First girl steemian I loved watching and commenting on! I still remember those early days when I was still around 25 rep and I went around looking at all the dtube "STARS" - they were so cool and you were one of them! And YET you still replied me some "newbie" I didn't have such care and feeling of community on any other steemian's posts!!(and in fact felt discouraged by some others but you helped me stay on!) I still hold you in high esteem and often mention you whenever I talk about Steemit to a new person and how there are people who do really well and are GIRLS!
GO GIRL POWER 😝

aww @vincy!!! Your comment just put a HUGE smile on my face!! I am so excited to hear that some of our earlier interactions had such a positive impact!

GIRL POWER all the way!!! <3

Love the whole concept here, congrats on your milestone grrrrl!

I literally just discovered your content yesterday, and I'm really stoked on the variety, accessibility, and universal yumminess from a multi-platform content creator perspective....

My about me is inspired by the nomiker creation strategy that has spawned the term Jobby, in that this is my

fun FACT self PROMO, or: Pro Act Fomo:

https://steemit.com/teamgirlpowa/@stirling/sq20sfdr

I just posted my first ever video to Dtube, after watching like 20 of your @coruscate, thank you thank you thank you for being so demonstrative and supportive in your content style!

So excited for you! And the fact that you @goldmatters hit 70 on the same day is doubly cool!! So much love & light to you! I've loved watching your posts since my first time replying to your post way back when - when you were asking about songwriting to you recent interviews, like the one with @larrymorrison. I love learning more new things about you and you just continue to shine and impress-rather to coruscate. :-)

Anyway, a tidbit about me, I feel like I've been blessed to live so many different lives within this one. In a "former life" I was a bank manager, who loved city life and travelling, who also sang in a rock band on the weekends, but got a gun held to my head in a crazy bank robbery which led me to leave that life and teach music to elementary kids. I got married & became the total typical suburban soccer mom until we made the crazy decision to homestead and move out of state and now live in the wilderness with 4 kids! Whew! I love this crazy life!

I know what you mean about multiple lifetimes in one. It is hard to believe we've seen and done all we have! I consider it one of the best and most enriching aspects of a person. Micro-specialization and a 30 year career is cool, but I like being a jack of all trades.

I often call myself a jack of all trades, master of few. I often joke that I have too many interests. I can't help it! There is so much out there to experience! I entirely agree!!

😱OMG, you had a gun held to your head?!!! I'm so sorry to hear that. How long ago was that? Oh my, I was wanting to say I didn't know you are a bank manager but when I read about your robbery experience, I literally got stunned. how did you get over that trauma, @crowbarmama?

I had an experience of robbery too when two men came in with long knives into our church to rob us too. I was not the girl who got the knife held to her throat. Even that got me traumatize for days.

@happycrazycon, that was in 2002. It was strange because being in the position of manager, I felt it was my duty to look out for those around me, so I remained calm and in control even when grabbed out of my chair and thrown to the ground, even when the other gunman (there were 2) accidentally discharged his weapon, even when they'd left the building and the elderly woman who had been at the counter grabbed me in a panic and wouldn't let go while I tried to lock the doors, even as my employee, whom I thought was not injured because she had remained standing lifted her arm to reveal blood dripping down her arm... Turns out the gun had been pointed downward and a small piece of the flooring when shot, burst upward striking her hand. I didn't"feel" anything for weeks. I was like a shell, no tears, no anger, just flashbacks until one day, months later, the floodgates of tears opened and I started to heal. Didn't step foot in a bank for years after that though!

The positive out of this was that I had wanted to leave banking, but couldn't see how to leave the money and position. This gave me the excuse I needed, so I'm actually very grateful for the experience. 😉

Perhaps that's the silver lining in this case. You were very brave as a manager. I too burst into tears and crying out loud after weeks later one night, while I tried to calm the others down right after the incident in the police station so I figured you may have "burst" at one point or another. I guess we had our closure much later but much needed. Thank goodness you are out from there too.

How terrifying to be attacked in your place of worship! Being attacked anywhere is scary, but to have it occur in your place of safety & sanctity is all the more injurious! The only thing I felt at first was anger that my sense of security had been taken. I'm so glad you escaped without physical injury and hope the emotional scars are healing well. 💕

Wow!!! you have really lived the big life. Singing in a band has to be sooo much fun. I am sure you would have more than enough stories to tell to your children and grand children.

keep steeming mama 😍,
soorefunmi

We didn't make it big, but we did get to independently produce a couple CDs and videos, which was so much fun! And yes, lots of stories, although many will only be shared once they're older! 😉

How interesting to move from one model of life to another, totally opposite. How did you feel about that? Do you miss your old lifestyle? If you had the opportunity, would you change your current way of life for another? Or do you think it was the best decision of your life? I'm a practicing professional, and I've often thought about going home, but it's a difficult decision.
Greetings

That's a great question. I don't regret anything I've done. I am actually grateful even for the bank robbery because it gave me a reason to leave the industry when I didn't have the courage to leave simply for my own personal benefit. As for my life now, we have had quite the adventure over the last few years, moving out of state, selling our home and living in a travel trailer for 18 months while looking for a property to buy and eventually building our home. If I had known then that we would have spent that long in a travel trailer ( we have 4 kids) I would have said no. It would have terrified me, but having lived it, I'm so grateful for the experience and do not regret any of it. Have you read Atlas Shrugged? I'm in the midst of it right now and I think it shines an important light on the idea of making oneself happy and doing things for your own enjoyment rather than for others or for what others might think. I highly recommend it.

Video snap nailed to perfection. If there will be anyone who will unlock a reputation of 140 next year, it'll be you. Thanks for the shout. You gave me an idea for a post that you'll know when you see it.

Super secret previously hidden facts about me:

I grew up in a haunted victorian home from the 1870's with ghosts, and have never slept with my closet door open there since seeing a horror movie as a kid.

Haha! I have always said, there may or may not be ghosts, but I don't care as long as they don't mess with me. We just built our home, but are still working on finishing the interior trim and doors. We actually have curtains for bedroom doors and no doors on the closets yet. I'm going to turn my back to the closet tonight thanks to you! 🤣🤣

I’m surprised that you slept at all.

Reputation of 140 - Now there is an intriguing idea if I ever heard one :-)

Lets just assume that who would be on the list of top steemians to take a crack at 100 reputation - man that could be awesome. @coruscate is there for sure - who else can we add to the list of 100 by 2019 list?

............if nothing else then its a bit exciting to think about :-)

conclusion: never watch horror movies as a kid.

Wow 70! Lots of hard work and dedication there! Congrats on your milestone!

Congrats, you made the #steemitminute for today!
Click the Image Below to see the Video!

Just checked it out! Great to see @coruscate being featured in your news. Bunch of other cool news as well.

PS: Sorry for @thelifeofjord's injury

I find that when people have hundreds of thousands of SP in their wallets, then the crowd is easily attracted. But to earn this rep without that kind of wallet just goes to show the kind of dedication that went in for earning that reputation. For such a blogger each and every follower is a follower earned by the merit of the blogger alone. Sure help is received but then again, help is usually given to people who deserve help.

Alright let's give this a go:

I'm the proud son of a crazy mother who taught to question everything, to fight for my own story in life.

I've been a musician as far as I can remember, but I landed on that stage (metaphorically speaking) as an emotional necessity. I've always felt the need to communicate. It's the only way I feel true agency and relevance.

I have two brothers and we are as close as one can ever be. It doesn't matter if we don't talk everyday, if one of us had any problems there would be no hesitation from any of us to jump into the fire. (thanks to our crazy mother)

I've lived in three different countries. I speak 5 languages and I love cheese. Actually, I love cheese a little too much. It's an issue...

I own some quails, eat their eggs all the time, but would probably never eat one as I've done the "wrong" thing and named them.

Yeap... that about sums it up!

hahaha

Ok, so much to love here. I hope someday my kids refer to me as a crazy mother with as much admiration as your description evokes.

I, too am a musician, though it's been on hold for the last 12 years, rather, it's changed to lullabies and songs about diaper changes and wiping boogers for the time being...

I grew up only like cheese on pizza and nachos (which now I don't even consider to be real cheese) to now being a huge cheese fan! Especially good raw cheese which we used to make from our own goat's milk, but also the hard cheeses! Although, I still can't be near bleu cheese. Don't know if I'll ever be able to do that...

We used to raise quail because I have one daughter with insane-crazy food allergies and the quail eggs are often tolerated well by folks who react to chicken and duck eggs! They were so fun to hard boil and we dyed them using purple cabbage and turmeric for easter and they were so fun! As for naming birds, when we first started homesteading 6 years ago, we had a rooster who we called Buddy. Didn't name him that officially, we would just talk to him, "Out of the way, Buddy!" Well, the kids started calling him that and it stuck until one day when he attacked my 8 yr old. We had Buddy soup and quesadillas that weekend. From then on we only name the rooster after villains, Darth Vader, Garmadon and Voldemort...

@crowbarmama saw you on steemitmamas I think, small world :)

Yes! @steemitmamas is an awesome community! And growing fast! Welcome!

I love it... wanna hear something crazy and hilarious.

One of our little roosters got beat up by the other one big time. Both his eyes were swollen, so i picked him up from the cage. I put him on separate one and I let him heal. That day I decided to call him Ray Charles. The poor blind thing struggled just to find the water.

Next thing you know one eye healed.... He was not Ray Charles anymore, he was pirate. But, i loved the Ray name so much it stuck... it just doesnt make sense anymore.

Haha! Wow! A pirate rooster! Lol! That sounds like a kids' book begging to be written... Yes! Names can be tricky. When we got our first flock, the lady we got them from said she was pretty good at determining the sex early on. Not perfect, she said, but about 80%. So the girls named the hen Heather and the rooster, Peter. They were the cutest pair of Bantams. The rest of the flock was standard size and didnt accept them right away so they always hung out together. A few weeks later Peterina was sitting on eggs and Mr. Heather was attacking the large roosters. Too funny...

5 languages? wow, well meant envy! haha. I barely speak 2 and I'm trying to learn the third one.
I got interested for languages two years ago and today I regret not practicing languages as a child. Being a polyglot is one of my dreams, it must be amazing, Congratulations on that! :D

Awww I just got a hug! That's why I felt a bit warm earlier for no reason (or because it's Summer! Hahaa jk!) Congratulations Lea! Rep 70 is super! Love steemit just like you do and hope we meet some day in real life. Congrats again! and a big hug sending back to you ❤

Now to join your fun contest : I love food. I eat so much but I don't get fat helpppppp! T^T

hahaha same here, I think my metabolism too fast or something, I can eat whatever I eat, in as much quantity as I want yet nothing changes and if it does, it's not noticeable. On the downside this also means that when I work out its takes longer than for most to really show. But I really don't mind that since when I hit the gym it's mostly to get healthier and not to get too jacked!

The funniest part tho is that when I do workout, I eat even more than usual and end up being a threat to the fridge and to my wallet. lol :)

Hi @coruscate, congrats on the milestone. I've recently just turned 40 reputation, having only been on the Steem blockchain for just over 1 month now. I agree with you, it is humbling to understand how reputation works here, and that it is totally dependent on other people's interactions with me. Nothing that I can do directly influences my reputation, so my rise here thus far is totally due to how others perceive me. That said, I'm not surprised to hear of your own success in the reputation stakes. The content that you produce is inspirational!

As to writing something about myself, well, that's pretty easy. Having been here such a short time, not too many people know much about me anyway. Let's review what I have shared on this platform already first: I live in West Auckland, New Zealand; I'm a GNU/Linux user, currently running Trisquel v8.0; I'm male; I've been married for almost 18 years. I think that's about it for the bare facts known about me, haha. To add to that collection of facts here, I'm from a blended family, I was the eldest of three siblings originally, but I got demoted to second eldest of five when my mother died and my father remarried, some 45 years ago now.

Thats a big family you have there! I have 1 sibling. Checked out your site, I look forward to battling you with @steemmonsters!

Thanks, yes it was quite a large family, especially when we all showed up at the same clubs or groups when we were young.

As for #SteemMonsters, well, I don't think I'll be ready for battle any time soon. My monster army is currently presided over by only two summoners, and I haven't raised enough Steem to even buy the Starter Set  yet, so all the monsters I have so far have been donated. I'm giving away my double-ups to new players rather than leveling them up at present, as a way to #payitforward and thank those who have been so generous to me. Hopefully this way, at least, I can contribute to the game's ecosphere by bringing in new blood.

Thank for sharing your story on my post friend and also sharing more info here on the page! New Zealand is such a beautiful place to live and I am glad that you have found someone to share your life with for 18 years. You are winning in a big way my friend. I can't wait to see what steemit has in store for you and vice versa. Keep it up my friend!

Thanks @mainos12345. Even at my advanced age now, I still have experiences that you would no doubt be able to identify with from your work with kids on the Spectrum. I was very fortunate to meet and fall in love with a wonderful woman who could put up with me, haha. It was actually because of her (even before we got married) that I was formally diagnosed as being on the Spectrum. Her tertiary studies led to a hypothesis on her part, which eventually drove me to prove her wrong (as I used to say to her, "my ass is not a burger!"  😄), which turned out to be the best thing for me, as she was very definitely proven right! I have relished my diagnosis ever since then.

So nice for you to share this part of your life with us @trisquelwhare. It must have been tough losing your mom; it is not always an easy thing to lose a loved one. I will really like to know more about you.

Thanks @hermannsol. It wasn't easy for me, back then, that's for sure. In fact, even today I live with the effects of it psychologically. I didn't mention it earlier, but it wasn't just that my mother died when I was a young child, it was that I saw her die, which really affected me. The most noticeable effect on me of that time is my speech. The shock of this tragic event caused a permanent stutter, which I still have to this day, and is why I don't often get onto live chat sessions or livestreams online. I might record some videos at some time in the future, but they will be heavily edited, haha.

So sorry to hear about that..
You are going to make me cry. I just picture my self in your place, what you must have gone through.
Thank God you were able to go through it all.

Nah, don't feel sorry for me. As Nietzsche famously said, and in the words of Kanye West, "That that don't kill me, can only make me stronger."

That's right..
Glad to hear that.

Hi there! This is a top Steem Monster fan right here and he also produces a lot of NICE Art work! :-)

Congratulations my friend. Earning a 70 reputation is a reult of all the hard work and positivity you bring to the community! You’ve inspired me to create more content, but more importantly you’ve taught me to reach out and bring positivity energy to others. Encouraging someone with a “good job” or a detailed response for watching or reading content goes a long way. You’re amazing my friend.

I’ll use this opportunity to tell people about my professional life, as a entry process for your contest. I am a special education teacher. I work with children on the autism spectrum. I absolutely love my job and my students. Some days are challenging but it’s all worth it to see a child with disabilities, or challenges, be successful in something they tried to improve on. I encourage everyone to find a job you love! It’s worth the wait and the search!

@mainos12345 As someone who is on the Autism Spectrum myself, and who went undiagnosed all through my childhood, I'd like to say thanks to you and to everyone else who gives their time to special education for children with Autism. Back in my day there weren't the opportunities available that there are now, and it is people like you who are making what I thought to be impossible, not only possible, but realities for the younger generation of kids on the Spectrum. Thanks for the difference you make in their lives.

Great work. Also, I like how you pin pointed the feeling of helping these kids achieve something as a motivational thought for yourself. You win at life sir.

Sir, you have my respect!! I know a few people that also work in your field. Through talking with them about their daily work experiences I've gained a huge pile of respect for it! Keep it up!

Hi @mainos12345 that is cool that you are a teacher. I at one time was studying to be a middle-school teacher because I really enjoyed spending time with kids that in that age group. I think that is one of the reasons why I enjoy creating content so much is because I love to teach and educate others. I am glad that you have pursued a career that you love and that continues to bring joy into your life. Cheers.

Thats a huge mission to do, encourage people to make their dreams come true, theres no fantasy on it, if they can believe on theirselves, their actions will guide them for it.

Its great to live doing what you love, when you find that, the people encourage you to continue doing it.

your job is amazing! you need all the patience in the world. I salute all teachers for your dedication and passion that you bring to your work. and true, your works always faced with challenges especially to those children.

I wish I could say the same, i dont hate my job that much. but this is our bread and butter, so for now it will do. I am hoping though in the future I will push through with what i really love doing.

Excellent, excellent work Lea.

You are one of DTube's (and steem's) finest.

And for the odd facts about me...

  1. I spent a year as a penguin catcher.

  2. I taught Prince Charles how to use the world wide web.

[ image from unsplash.com ]

"I taught Prince Charles how to use the world wide web"

.......I don't want to be fan-girling or anything but HOLY SHIT!!!

Whoa! On both accounts! Although my kids would be far more impressed with the penguin catching, rather than the royal training! Do you happen to have a post on "penguin catching"?

That's one complete resume one could ever need!

Congratulations, @coruscate and thanks for the shoutout. It was a pleasure sharing some tips with you.

Something about me: I have a private pilot license that I've never used.

So @coruscate has a pilot onboard this journey :-)

Whoaaaa! That's dope Dave! Fly me around when we meet hahaa :) ❤

Oh my god! It's so nice to get to know a pilot. If I were you, I would buy an aeroplane and fly often and often lol

Okay first things first - Congrats!!! A rep of 70 means that your swimming amongst the whales now and to pull that off you need either SP or heart or both :-)

If I am seeing things correctly, I also believe that @goldmatters also reached that milestone :-)

Now for the contest........I thought about a couple of topics but decided to stick with something simple - my life. Its really simple. I wake up and make coffee. Log in to steemit and preserve a part of time here on the steem blockchain for all eternity. Somewhere between the time when I log in and write my tenth comment, I check my crypto portfolio.

After that I a start my work - research, research and more research. My field of study is Robotics and Electronics. It takes most of my day time and the I return back to steemit and commenting and posting and reading. I am targeting to achieve 200 SP by the end of this month and 500 by end of September............... A few more days of this and I'll be a taking a short break to visit my family.

Cool, just went to your steemit profile, I see you are part of the steemhunt10k, me too! Subscribed. I look forward to some videos about robotics and electronics. Get on it.

Checked your stuff as well my man! You have shared some great videos. It makes me little jealous because videos aren't my forte and I doubt I'd take up vlogging anytime soon, even though I want to :D

Hopefully, I will share some of my work in robotics here on Steemit and let the folks know a little more about my academic life as well.

@hashcash, at what university are you doing research? Can you tell us more about that? Would be interested to see some of you robotics work! I myself am doing work in fluid dynamics.

How do you deal with not getting distracted by Steem related things during work? I'm struggling sometimes :)

I am in Poland these days and doing research at Warsaw Polytechnic. Frankly I am not the most disciplined guy. I will admit that my Steemit addiction has been a bit of a detriment to my academics and I am still trying to figure it out myself.

Haha yeah more or less in the same boat here :)

Man, idk if you have the record, but if you don't you are probably really close. You are one of the most active commenters on this blockchain.

badass dude..

Thanks buddy! I have been in @abh12345's curation league for the last month and there I have seen some really hardcore commenters but I think I am in top 15 there. Although my comment character length is pretty good.

Thanks for noticing man, Appreciate it !

Congratulations Lea, big achievement!! I'm guessing I would need a few years before reaching 70 :) I know that gaining a reputation point becomes harder with each point. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take roughly to go from 69 to 70? Man, this will be a commenting bonanza! Best idea ever! And btw, I like the new backdrop you have in this video. Your studio really came out nice ;)

Ok something about me: My dad is Austrian, my mom is Dutch, my sister lives in England, my girlfriend is American, I live in the Netherlands, I work in Germany, my girlfriend lives in France. How international is your life?

Wow! Being a homeschool mom I can use your life as a geography lesson! Lol! That's awesome!

Thanks! I think visiting other places and expose yourself (or better, your homeschool kids) to different cultures is the best way to teach! Is the homeschooling a choice or necessity for you? Necessity, in sense of being isolated from good schools or something like that.

If you ever in need of help with teaching math of physics, I'm happy to offer my knowledge on these topics. I have a master in science and love math and physics 8-)

Why thank you! How kind of you! Well, we have chosen to homeschool given what we see in the mainstream, however, our kids still participate in local sports, theatre, music and 4-H. I always thought my kids would attend public school as my husband and I did, but after working at a public school in California, I changed my mind.

My kids are all avid readers. Even my 2 yr old will sit for 30 minutes alone just thumbing through a book! He used to prefer textbooks- I think he liked that they were thicker than typical kids' books, but lately his favorite is "Hop on Pop" by Dr. Seuss. He has most of it memorized and "reads "it to himself. I keep trying to catch him on camera, but he is too aware of me.

That's great! I too have the opinion that the current school system (in my area) is sub-optimal. When done right children can benefit tremendously from proper homeschooling!
The laws on homeschooling here are very strict here, which makes homeschooling practically impossible.

We purposely chose the state we live in because of the freedom to choose how to educate our children. It's a tragedy that people around the world aren't able to raise their children the way they see fit.

wow!!! you are a family of mixed race! I love it hahahahaha.. cool indeed!

so how do you balance the schedules of visit? hehe

Yeah, it's quite interesting having many different views at the dinner table :) Typically the big discussion is about where to celebrate the Christmas holidays. The rest of the years we all play it by ear more or less :)

hahaha i magine you all sitting in one table talking all at the same time. its a pretty chaos!

My gosh man, consolidate locations! Thats crazy, how much time do you spend traveling?

Ah, my weekends are typically full but it's not too bad :) I see you are from California. I think typically people there have to travel way more miles to get somewhere :) What town are you at? My girlfriend is from LA

Well, I work within 10 miles of my job, not so bad, nice drive through a valley to get there. I live in Ventura County. Snow, Beach, Nightlife, Amusement Parks, National parks and Lakes all within 2 hours of where I'm at.

That sounds pretty sweet! I’ve traveled through California now quite a few times. Coming from a densly populated country, the natur overthere is crazy beautiful! Love it there!

how often do you meet your whole family? =)

Haha depends how you define family :) Me and my gf's families did meet a few years back. My sister was over from England with her boyfriend, and my girlfriends family came over from Los Angelos. Although it was fun, the house was full :P

Quite interesting.

First I want to say congrats on this milestone! I am looking forward to when I hit 60 rep! Fun fact about myself, I'm a big doctor who fan. It's my favorite television show, I also love listening to their audio books by big finish! Here is a trailer for one of them! If you are interested ;)

I still havent seen Dr. Who! At some point I will need to watch that. Shouldn't we be on a stream somewhere right now @crystalpacheco30? ;)

I'm watching colin baker as well, love the stream :)

I NEVER REALIZED DOCTOR WHO CAME IN AUDIO BOOK FORMAT!!! You seriously just revolutionized my life... I'm about to move to LA and be spending A LOT of time in the car, and now I know what I'll be listening to! :)

They do classic and new doctors it's pretty cool :) https://www.bigfinish.com/

Totally going to Geek Out on that :D

I got a pic of myself with my favorite Doctor, Tom Baker, back in the day. If you don't know who he is, it means you're young, so you're the lucky one lol.

Love the tom baker audio books as well! (I'm young but still love him lol)

I was a super big fan of Doctor Who - watched it since the very first episode in the early 1960s.

This YouTube totally sidetracked me into watching old Doctor Who clips for 30 minutes.

You can never have too much Doctor Who!

Love watching 1st and 2nd doctors , just wish we had all the all the missing stories! Stupid bbc lol

Interesting, didnt had idea they got an audio book :D

im now curious of this show, thanks to you! haha

My super powers include a 3D aerial map of the surrounding area that turns whenever I turn. I love to explore new territory whenever I am in a new neighborhood I randomly drive up and down all the roads until I have the whole area mapped out. In the six years of living in the Shenandoah Valley I have become more familiar with the back roads than many of the lifelong natives of this region. I can find also people in the woods or in cities without cell phone contact.

Some of my pet peeves are people who necessitate Rules by their inability to think creatively and make good decisions, and people who come up with rules, systems, protocol, Etc. and then break them.

Congratulations Lea!!! That's quite the accomplishment! Thank you for all of the entertainment and great steemit advice you put out there.

Ok, I'm going with the "first job" suggestion haha! When I was in high school I worked at a pet store called Slither City in. All we sold was reptiles - snakes, lizards, tortoises. Oh yeah, and tarantulas, scorpions, frogs, and feeder rodents. It was a pretty crappy job at times but also a lot of fun for a high schooler. Especially when I got to deal with the 15+ foot, sometimes aggressive pythons lol! Lots of crazy memories from those 3 years of working there.

Cheers!!!

Wow! Yeah, that would have been a really cool job as a teen. Did you ever have any escapees? Yikes! That's why I refuse to have snakes as pets in my home. I have held them at events or at other homes, but just can't get over the thought of a creepy-crawlie getting free in my home. Nope. 🤣

Haha! Yes they did escape! We once had a big (10+ foot) python escape and it ended up getting into the ceiling. It then decided to come back down through the ceiling in the bathroom of the bird-only pet shop next door, hahaha! The owner of the bird shop was thrilled... Really, the feeder rodents were the worst when they escaped. They'd chew holes in the walls and have babies in the walls. Fun times!

I would have loved that job as a high school kid! I worked at Round Table pizza for my first gig (Outside of babysitting and gardening for my neighbors) haha.

Oh, yeah, I guess I babysat a little bit when I was real young.
Haha! I also worked at a Round Table, in college. Delivery dude... Some CRAZY stories from that job too.

lol, nice a fellow Knight! I started at 15 as a pizza maker. left at 17, came back at 19 as a delivery driver. I loved that job, my 98 Camaro didn't.

I was 18/19 when I worked there while attending college at Humboldt State University. Yeah... a lot of miles were added to my old Toyota truck but not that bad of a job.

That's really bold of you, never had the privilege of doing stuffs like this. Am sure I wouldn't have anyways 😂

It was a pretty fun job as a teenager but glad I'm not doing that any more haha!

Congrats Lea on reaching 70 rep. I knew you would it was only a matter of time. Also, thank you for that mention, I highly value our friendship.

Something about me... I have a scar on my left arm from when my younger brother was chasing me through the backyard and I closed a screen door to the house behind me. He was still running and crashed through the glass in the door, causing one of the shards to lodge itself into my arm. It was pretty crazy (and he was ok with only minor cuts/bruises).

Injured while playing.............kind of like a right of passage in boyhood. But to leave a scar it must have been pretty nasty. Sorry about that.

Although I must admit that I have used such injuries to guilt my siblings into doing my bidding. I once broke my thumb while playing with my sister. Used that as emotional leverage on more than one occasion as a kid ;-)

hahaha amazing story! Reminds me of back as children, me my young brother and a friend saw a quarter off either 5 rwf or 20 and we started fightinh for it, all to buy gum. Smh So at one point I accidentely pushed him too strongly and he falls chipping a tooth. Needless to say when our parents came back they were furious and demanded the truth! Luckily he didn't snitch and said he fell running. Oh boy the beating I avoided that night was epic! I was even more lucky coz unlike @hashcash, he didn't hold it over me, but then again he's tends to act more mature than me. lol
p.s: my parents still don't know the truth but who knows maybe one day they ll stumble on this comment.

Hi there! Congratulations!

It is really a milestone to reach this point. Im as glad that I am part of the community you ar e growing with.

Im Queenzel by the way, but you can call Quench for short. Im a goofy mom of two super active boys. 1 is 6 years old and the other will be one year tomorrow. wohoooo! another milestone to celebrate too.

I have a day time job and becomes a NANNY in the evening and over the weekends, too.. Im still new here but Im getting the hang of it. I try my best to connect and interact during the night where all my babies snore! that is my ME TIME, STEEM TIME. hahaha

Congratulations for your son for his birthday! :)

Regards!

Congrats on hitting the high water mark of reputation; it shows a level of dedication and perseverance to push through the inevitable frustrations you must have felt pushing through.

One bit about myself is that most won't know is that I am a java game programmer, never published a game because I won't add anything to the app store that I would not be embarrassed to show friends or family.

Don’t be embarrassed my friend! Just keep improving! I would love to see the content you make and could provide some helpful suggestions. Thanks for sharing my friend!

Seems like you typed out the perfect sentence for us all to tell you to stop caring what other people think. "Argue your limitations and sure enough, they are yours." Make that game.

I have always loved programming and programmers for as long as i can remember, i have worked on a few java programming projects and i remember feeling on top of the world when these apps work.
I think you should totally publish a game, if you need a cheerleader or a app tester, i would be right here.

Keep steeming,
@soorefunmi

Thanks; I've only worked on programming solo and mostly self-taught. I have the vision of what I want to publish, but am still building up the skills to actually do it justice.

Congrats on hitting that milestone, Lea!! That’s pretty awesome. You’re super consistent and always have a positive message

Huge congrats on this huge milestone! I'm so so so happy for you!

One year on steemit is no joke.. I'm also truly inspired by your 70rep achievement. But I believe the biggest thing you have achieved is the impact you have made in our lives. You have heavily encouraged those of us that are new, particularly the ladies, that we can achieve great things if we work hard, be consistent, be ourselves and don't stop. Anytime I sight your clips, I upvote instantly. Why? Not because they are just great, but you embody what we can achieve if we keep grinding it. We love you too.
Now the fun fact: i'm still trying to figure out how to declutter my office. How has your 40 days, 40 bags been?

I remember somebody complaining that Steemit is such a sausage fest. I didn't comment on that post but I remember thinking that this person probably wont go far here. Its like a unwritten rule of success - People who tend to do great, do it irrespective of the crowd around them.

I'm passionate by Volleyball and this year I'm doing something different with my vacations, I´m participating on a record amount of tournaments, the more the better (that´s how I´m rolling my summer).

Again following your advice, I'm taking notes and when I reach 1000 followers I will be doing a giveaway (not too far away).
We love you too, so much!! Let's start snooping on some comments!!

Oh yes! Volleyball is one sport that I am still fairly competitive at :-)

I think, doing a giveaway for 1000 follower mark would be awesome. Great way to share the love and also let the folks know about your presence. Although I am a bit afraid that if I do one, then nobody might come for it. Now that could be majorly embarrassing :-)

Volleyball is very fun :) I have time that I do not play it, I do not go to the beach for years. I like playing it on the beach!

When my Mom reached 70, she wasn't quite as happy. Seriously though, a 70 rep in less than a year is extraordinary!

I bet you wish you'd waited to claim your Byteball tokens, cos you could have had twice as many now, grrr.

Fun fact: I went to Hogwarts, well, a boarding school in England like Hogwarts, except with no girls and no magic, which are the same things really. :(

Ah I see! An Hogwartian or of a similar temperament................ well let me put it this way - my school had tunnels (I kid you not) and I was a Harry Potter fan. The two things combined together to create an incredible world of fantasy in my head. I am still struggling to rid my head of it :-)

About girls..........well they smelled the 'nerd' in me so fast that that all I could ever catch of them was whiff of their perfume. As you can imagine they are more of a mystery to me than magic ;-)

Funniest comment ever right here! My daughter is a HP nut! We homeschool and limit screentime so she only started reading the books last year. Well, she's a voracious reader so she tore through the entire series and then re-read the series 5 times in that first month. I then allowed her to watch the movies and she's only watched them each 1-2 times, yet has nearly all memorized.
The funny thing is she has no concept of nerds, popularity, etc because she hasn't experienced it, but I was the classic nerd growing up. I had two brothers so I could hold my own but it still sucked to get picked on for being smart. I was even once told (by one of the "popular boys") that I was pretty, but too smart for anyone to like me. I attended that school for 9 years-always the nerd. Well, luckily it became a good thing in high school and being a large school, there wasn't the stigma with being smart there, but I still held on to the nerd title inside.

Anyway, my daughter is the coolest kid I know. By the standards of which I was judged in school, she would be considered a nerd too, but she has loads of self confidence and I love watching her carry herself without the shyness I see in so many kids today.

Anyway, I got off topic, but tunnels under a school? Awesome!

Well, none of the girls ever told me that I was pretty but they sure wanted tuitions though :-) The fact that I was in an all boys school didn't help the matters either. By the time I came to high school things changed for the better. Who knew that nerds with mean right hooks could actually be respected!!!

I think nerd hood wasn't as much as a problem as my own anti social behavior as a kid. I loved books and use to skip classes to read fiction novels. The problem was that kids didn't really understand why I was doing it and it came to blows on more than one occasion.

Harry Potter was my main book for the longest time and thankfully I made a few friends because of it. I am not really sure how many times I have read them in all but I can understand why your daughter is going through them like chocolate :-) It was exactly the same for me. I actually read Crichton and Clancy before I read Rowling, so it was a bit of a change for me and yet I was hooked on HP from the beginning.

I am not exactly sure whats school life is like these days but its good to hear that your girl is doing well socially.

When I hear about hog warts I just imagine a bunch of hairy moles hehehehe is that weird @rodneysreviews

Ooh yuck, you're more Roald Dahl than J.K. Rowling, Kawaiicrush! :)

hehe yes! I have a silly sense of humor! =P
I went to the same high school as the man who filmed Terminator and Titanic! James Cameron! I am originally from Niagara Falls Canada! So that is sort of magical too!

I met James Cameron once, at a talk, and I told him I liked "True Lies" because it was a comedy, and I felt he was stepping out of his comfort zone doing that. He thanked me for that, as he was delighted somebody noticed he did something other than epic action and drama lol.

True Lies!! What a classic!! I loved Weaver in that! Cool story @rodneysreviews! I met John Candy on the set of Makin Canadian Bacon! He was so laid back. I was a pre-teen at the time. I told him I wanted nothing more than to entertain and act. He told me just do it! So I did. I am now a member of Actra Canada.
By the way it is really nice to meet you Rodney. My name is Stephany =D

Nice to meet you too.

I am such a fan of movie comedians. I am quite jealous you got to meet the wonderful John Candy. I mean this guy appeared with John Belushi in "The Blues Brothers," Bill Murray in "Stripes," and Steve Martin in "Planes Trains and Automobiles!" And he appeared with you too. That kind of puts you among the comedy greats lol. Wow! :)

Cheers and congrats!

But i fear there wont be a steemfest 3... So far nicht signs. ..

Ok, uninteresting fact about me is I always wear odd socks, generally plain, since 1989 when I put on one orange and one turquoise sock after mixing the pairs up and being in a rush. For the first time that night, I got the phone number of a girl I really liked in a nightclub! I just think odd socks are lucky now!

Posted using Partiko Android

sock-it-to-ya @gentmartin lol, I don't know how or where to start comment to this. I suggest still washing those socks regularly, you don't want to scare her away.

My laundry machine feeds itself on socks. I too sometimes have to wear stray-socks together as a pair. I never noticed the luck. Maybe I should pay more attention :P

Haha. I have a thing about needing to wear matching socks and won't leave my apartment otherwise. The only time I'll wear mismatches is if it was an honest mistake when rushing to get ready, and then it'll bother me. We're polar opposites here, but perhaps I should try it since it got you a good phone number.

That's hilarious. So, do you buy the same brand in different colors at least? Just wondering because the different textures would drive me bananas!

oh wow! I wish I could reach out to this milestone once day! You are awesome! My Congrats!!!

The interesting fact about me - I have the soul of my house and feed it by candies every week.

IMG_0315.png

is it odd? =)

The odd thing would be that it eats them...

hahahahaha.... no way! I am such a sweet tooth, no chance for anybody in my place to eat something sweet before I do

On one occasion I went on a trip with my high school classmates, it was the first time I went without someone from my family, it was very exciting!
Everyone thought that I was just the intellectual girl, because I like to get good grades and pay attention to each class... and on the first night everyone went to the club party room.
All my companions were beautiful, almost models of magazines and I the normal girl. When a boy approached the table asking him to dance with him, I thought he was wrong and that it was with one of them that he wanted to dance. So he had to repeat the request to the boy.
I love to dance! So I accepted and then my colleagues were with astonishment.
So dance and dance and dance and dance XD
From Merengue, hiphop and many types of music... until the salsa brava... there I am not a professional dancer and I just learned to dance listening to music and watching others dance.
And then I tired the poor boy to exhaustion, so much that he asked for rest several times, but always came back to me (to dance).
The funny thing about this story, is that the next day I learned that this guy was the dance teacher of the XD club and I tired him! O.o

Congratulations for your achievement!... from what I've seen so far, it's not easy at all.

ALWAYS THE FIRST TIME YOU MAKE A TRIP WITHOUT YOUR FAMILY IS A SPECIAL OCCASION

Sure and the expectations are the best ;)

Thank you for sharing your story with us

is a pleasure madame

Very funny story @darkfemme

Yes, its was a funny trip

This story happened to me in real life.

Years ago I came out of curiosity on a website www.estasmuerto.com on this page fill out a form and predict the date of your death and how it will happen, he told me that I would die at 35, as I like sports xtreme, one day parachute jumping, he opens everything well, but when I hit the ground I tripped and hit my knee when I went to the doctor. He told me that I had broken my left kneecap, the doctor told me not to be alarmed with a routine operation, we fixed it, but when the nurse operated on me I put a lot of anesthesia and never woke up from the operation.

I of course laughed a lot and forgot about it.

8 years later at the age of 35, one day skating I tripped and hit my knee I went to the doctor because I could not stand the pain, when I'm waiting in the waiting room the doctor calls me a friend of a lifetime, know how he was and tell him what happened, the first thing he does is ask me scared what leg he was and how old he was? I missed him and he answered me for nothing, I let him be anesthetized, I still missed without understanding, I ask him why and he reminded me of the website that predicted my death.
In that moment I was very scared, I was sweating, those 15 minutes that the doctor took were eternal, when the doctor arrives he tells me that he was fractured but he did not need surgery.

Believe me that day I was born again.

Everything was a coincidence of the very crazy fate, but if they tell me to get on that page again, I do not even go crazy, I hope you like it was a 100% real story.

div png calabera.png

hahaha I would have liked it too, but I would never have entered the doctor, I run out with my damaged leg

Very good story, if it really happened that madness coincidences, if you do not have very good imagination

Hello @coruscate First I want to congratulate you for reaching your reputation 70.
When things are done well, you always get good fruit, so I see here things are going a good way. With respect to the rules of the contest here we go. What can I say about me? I am a doctor, I live in Venezuela and because of how badly paid we are, I quit my job and now I'm home and on this wonderful platform, I'll be a princess's uncle in two days. So great gift. I leave a sample from my first days on this platform to get to know me a little more.

Let the successes continue.
cheers o/

I am @hermannsol and i'm a 22yrs old guy who has the aspiration to become the greatest philanthropist the world has ever known. That sounds quite silly i know but i just can't help it. The feeling i get when i help or assist others who desperately need my help and when they just put up that smiling face of gratitude and appreciation; it is just amazing. To see them that happy because of what i did gives me great joy. I don't feel like that when i do something else and when i do help others it makes me just feel like that is what i was born to do.
It is a secret passion and dream i have hidden within me and no matter how silly it may sound; i chose to cling to this dream and i am working towards it.

Together with a friend, we founded a community called GLOW community which is a group of young people trying to make the difference in our communities. We come together as a group and we raise funds through which we extend a hand to others who need our help. We have been involved in a good number of charity works and we still continue to do so. On such occasions when we go out for these events, they are the best times of my life and i feel i am moving towards the right direction of achieving my silly dream.

This is who i am and want to be and no matter what anyone says of how silly i sound or how impossible it is to achieve it; i don't really take them seriously. I believe nothing is impossible if you believe and work towards it.
Believe me when i say this

I will be the greatest philanthropist the world has ever known

That's a noble thought my man. Please accept a few words from me:

My dreams were too big to be seen by them
Like the sky, they could see it but not comprehend

I could have walked away from it all
But alas, it was my one and only call

My soul breathes for my dream now
Challenge after challenge through I plow

If I wanted I could have captured the sun in my fist
Yet I stayed here to become a philanthropist

Thanks so much @hashcash for your words of encouragement.

Congrats.. :)

Why is he not in a suit?! Someone buy this man a suit!

I'm sure SHE would look lovely in a suit. . .

It would look extra weird for the people walking by :P A girl in a suit, on the rocks at the ocean, talking to a tripod microphone looking at a phone :)

"Do you often find that your phone talks back to you?" - That brought a smile to my face

I can see it now. . . <3

Congratulations on your amazing achievement ,,
I also want to high reputations like you, but I do not know who will provide support for me ,,I hope you will give it .. haha.

Welp, you don't gain supporters by asking for it, you work hard and create content and supporters will follow.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have tried to write something that weighs in accordance with my skill in writing, but rarely ogled people .. so I decided to buy votes so that my post does not have a vacuum ...😊

I checked your blog man. Glad to see that you have some decent stuff there. It's good to have help here on steemit and I must admit that I have had plenty from others. But mostly it comes down to your own help :-)

I am a bit confused though - Are you in Aceh or Alaska?

Hahaha ,, It turned out that you have been lurking me for a long time, actually I am a native Acehnese, but since these few months I have moved to Alaska to do business ..😜😜😜😊😊😊😊😁😁😁😁😁

Good to check up on people you like :-)

If I can know where you live, I want to expand the business wing to your area.😊

I am actually in Poland.
