Mind and Memory #1: General State of Health as a Factor for Memory Improvement...

in #mindset6 years ago (edited)

Hi, Steemians!

A lot of people find it difficult to memorize the things that are important to their livelihood.

Have you ever found yourself struggling to remember the answer to a question? If you have ever found yourself in a situation like that, you need to work on your memory and understand how it works.

Just like any muscle in your body, you can improve your memory.

The importance of memorization is much more prominent than excelling at your studies. In a significant business meeting or a speech in front of hundreds of people, it matters if you remember certain words or sentence structures for more efficiency and influence.

People with a good memory often seem cleverer and more reliable, making them excellent candidates for running any business.

If you ever show yourself as someone with a sharp memory, you will quickly impress other people and they will consider your potential.

But how can one improve their memory and sharpen it for utilization in business and other aspects of life?

First and most obvious of all is your general state of health. To have a sharp memory and a powerful mind, you need to first make sure that you have a healthy body.

A healthy diet is the greatest contributing factor to the well-being of your mind and your memory. Eat healthy, and make sure that you get all the vitamins and proteins that your body requires on a daily or weekly basis.

Some vitamins like B vitamins greatly enhance your mental capabilities and you will need them if you want to have a properly functioning brain.

Drink a whole lot of water every day.

Our body and our mind require tremendous amounts of drinking water, and most of the time we are negligent towards this need. Water will make your blood cells more active and that in turn will give you more energy.

Do not wait to get thirsty. Make a habit out of drinking water regularly. Every hour or so, get up from your seat or stop what you are doing and have a cup of water to drink.

Sleep enough and sleep well! Research has shown that our minds need the proper amount of sleep so that they can transfer the data and information we pour into them to our long-term memory.

It is only there where we will never forget anything. So, it is important to get enough sleep if you want to have a sharper memory.

Deal with your anxiety and stress, because it will adversely affect your mind and its functional capacities.

If you are an addict of caffeine, reduce the amount you take each day. If you want to have a sharper mind, shake off your nicotine addiction and quit smoking.

These are all health factors that directly affect the powerhouse of your brain. Do not dampen the power of your brain by living recklessly and on the edge.

In these series of articles, our goal is to improve the efficiency of your mental powerhouse, but the first step towards realizing that goal is to monitor the state of your general health.

The things mentioned above are all having a terrible effect on your mind, and you do not even notice it because you are too busy living a life of indulgence and negligence.

Monitoring the health of your body is the first step to take for a sharper memory and an efficient mind.

A BIG HUG!

I have a bad memory of important things. I think I need to drink more water and sleep properly with eating a tad bit better and stop going to bed midday. Waking up at night and repeat. Slowly fixing it but its hard :(

A good memory and mentality analytical, are a perfect combination succeed labor and business. It's like your portable hard drive high storage capacity, provided you will take with you all you need to everywhere. And as Platon sayd: "Healthy mind in healthy body"

Greetings

Nice article. I agree that the health of the body highly influences the state of ones mind and memory. Especially getting enough sleep. I'm sure the next articles in the series will discuss exercises specifically related to the mind such as practice among others. I look forward to your next posts :)

Whether we like it or not, when we get old or older our mind function and memory decline. Our other illnesses will affect our brain and affecting our brain will slow down its function.
I guess we have to accept this fact first and move on in improving ourselves not only physically or mentally but also spiritually, because this is where our journey would go, leaving our body behind after finishing this earthly life and moving forward on our soul's journey to eternity.

Thanks sir for sharing good idea for improving memory.

Thanks for the information, I have managed to improve my memory considerably, reading a lot, leaving bad habits, sleeping little and sleep well as a balanced diet combined with exercise. With this I have managed to maintain and retain relevant information in my day either for work or college.

Excellent review @chbartist and we have a saying "In a healthy body, a healthy mind!" therefore, you are absolutely right; it is impossible to achieve optimal and correct thinking if our general state of our body is low. Only we can keep track of our body and support it in a healthy state!

Oh yes @chbartist, I agree with you, our mind and body are completely connected with ourselves and if the body experiences health problems, then the mind and memory will also suffer. We all have a vital need to follow the health of the body and thinking will be clear, which will lead us to our goal!

It is not without reason that they say that it’s not easy to live for someone who doesn’t rely on his memory. Thanks for the useful advice.

I am looking forward to this series as I am always mindful at looking at ways to improve my memory and thought process. I already feel I do my best with diet, fitness and rest but know I can do more!

I agree with you that a good memory of a person is his great advantage over other people. And now there are so many ways to train your memory. Thanks for the right advice.

In recent years I am very forgetful, I have searched for information to improve memory, with some teas, I am currently testing with turmeric, which has good influence on memory, I hope that goes well with me, hahaha ... and I always I take a lot of water to keep the body hydrated ... I do not know how there are people who do not like to drink water, if it is so refreshing! and sleep ... that's a bit difficult for me, because my little daughter has problems with sleep and always wakes up every 2 or 3 hours in dawn ... maybe that's what makes me so forgetful.

Dear, @chbartist , that was very good article thanks for sharing!
Also i would like to add that Memory, like muscular strength, requires you to “use it or lose it.” The more you work out your brain, the better you’ll be able to process and remember information.

To have sharp memory we need a healthy mind and a healthy minds stays in healthy body. I do care alot for my health. I exercise daily and walk alot everyday. I ensure to cross 10k steps daily and drink water every hour and even sometimes twice in hour. I even drink when I am not even feeling thirsty as I keep water bottle at my desk. Its convenient to drink water whenever i want because sometimes going to cafeteria makes me feel lazy.

Thanks @chbartist for writing post about health. Appreciate it.
