UFC 214 is in less than 2 weeks!!!
How can so many people calling themselves MMA fans prattle on endlessly about a hyped-up freak show of a
BOXING MATCH at a time Like this?

Shush.

Don't get me wrong. I love boxing, and I am entertained by the theatrics fighters use to sell fights. However UFC 214 has Β an absolutely STACKED card including 3 Title fights, but next to nobody on Steemit seems to be talking about it!

Check it out the title bouts:

Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones 2
Fans have been waiting for this fight for over two years! We've Got Bones Jones, arguably Β one of the GOATs in the sport, facing off against a very qualified champion who likely wants nothing more than to get out from the shadow of his opponent. There is so much drama and setback Β and human struggle finally coming to a head, but everybody is talking about a damned pinstripe suit.

What gives?

Tyrone Woodley vs Demain Maia
One of the most powerful strikers in the division facing off against the last pure Jiujitsu fighter in the sport who is a human backpack full of "Go the fuck to sleep"? Yes, Please! Honestly I can't express how exciting this fight will be any better than BJJ Scout himself. Check out his breakdown here:

Cyborg vs Tonya Evinger
Cyborg, the most dangerous woman in MMA, hasn't lost a fight in over 11 years for good reason, but her opponent "Triple Threat" is an Invicta Champion on a 7 win streak of her own, and is also known for Β puking and stealing kisses πŸ˜‚

AND THOSE ARE ONLY THE TILE MATCHES! Don't get me started on Lawler vs Cowboy et al.

In closing, If you MUST go on about McGregor and Mayweather, Don't just repost the same tired shit-talking videos! Be like @nanzo-scoop and write something thought provoking and tag it in #boxing where it belongs.

Anyways can we see some other content under #MMA please? Some of you folks have to train. Let's see some videos of the slick technique you learned this week, the hand drills you've been working on , or upcoming Β MIXED MARTIAL ARTS bouts you are excited about. Let's see that tagged #MMA on Steemit!

You're correct! It's definitely dominating the airwaves lately. I'm very interested to see who wins out of Cormier v. Jones!

Me too although I gotta admit I'm the most excited about Maia/Woodley. Maia's put in so much work over the years and seemingly gets no love outside the jiu-jitsu community. I would love to see him take home the strap. Not only to show how relevant jiujitsu still is in modern MMA, but also to piss-off the haters who shout, "Stand them back up!" every time fighters are working any newaza that isn't ground-and-pound. People like that should go support their local Thai boxing scene instead of shouting at the TV in my corner bar πŸ˜‚

You're richt! I'm under the impression that the UFC is slipping a bit. Hopefully they on their game and not let Bellator take their spot. It would be a shame for al of the Fighters currently signed with the UFC.

My biggest concern with the UFC is they keep focusing on one or two hero athletes to float the whole organization, while they fail to promote, adequately pay, and/or develop fan interest in up-and-coming or lesser known fighters. In a just universe, Demetrius Johnson would be every bit as rich and famous as Connor Mcgregor.

I think Cormier is going down, but you never what the hell is up with Jones haha, should be a great card.

It's going to be one hell of a fight. I'm pulling for Bones, because I like a good redemption story. On the other hand D.C. Is such a classy dude and I would love for him to prove to the world he earned his title not because jones was a fuck-up. I'll be happy either way, but who to bet on?! πŸ˜‚

Betting man says Jones, but yeah Cormier could really cap off a great career if he wins. You know he'd straight retire after that haha.

Very much agreed. I think there are so many other quality fights and fighters to focus on.

It's a very strange matchup... but still, to see if Conor can pull it off will be interesting. I will definitely watch it.

After this fight, UFC needs to get back to focusing on their own organization and creating new stars. I've been really down on UFC since the Reebok deal and new ownership. Hopefully they can turn it around since Bellator just can't seem to get to that level yet.

I agree. The amount the UFC is paying their stable of fighters (outside of the Connor/Ronda's of the world) is outrageously shameful. Once you factor in paying your camp, travel expenses for your team, Nutrition etc, and the fact a lot of them can't get sponsored because of the rebook deal, a lot of these athletes aren't making a decent living. I imagine gladiators in Rome were pampered better outside the arena! The new owners should work on this.
I think this is where bellator gets it right, they might not have as polished a production value, but their fighters are compensated better. That's why bellator keeps nicking good talent away from Dana like Mousasi and the Red King Rory Macdonald. Plus having a majority of fights be free on spike is democratic in my mind.

Pumped for this card, hoping Maia can pull it off, show them what pure BJJ can do.
