RE: 🅱️uck It. Let's Make A Magazine

in #money7 years ago
  1. are all articles submitted to your editor then considered the permanent property of your magazine, whether they're used or not? Or how will that work?

Property of the author, but they grant us the right to use them. They're credited at the end of the articles they publish with a link to wherever they want and a blurb about them.

  1. with no offense or desire whatsoever to take anything away from @flashfiction, if he's going to be making 30% off of 8-10 articles day, just by spending a little time editing them, doesn't that seem a little unbalanced compared to how much the writers themselves will be making for each article?

Unbalanced? No. I would rather have 1 @flashfiction than 100 writers.

Writers are easy to find. Ambitious people who are willing to take on responsibility are not. @FF made himself useful to #sharkschool when it started. He also made it clear that he wanted to be involved in future projects and I could see that he had a lot to offer.

I can go to Upwork right now and buy articles for $1. I can make fake Steemit accounts and populate them with these and more articles. I don't need anyone on this site to ever contribute an article and we will do just fine.

But what I can't order is ambitious people who I can trust to do a good job without having to micromanage everything they do.

Furthermore, I want to make it very clear that if this goes the way I want it to go, it won't be the last project I pitch on here. Every project will need help, organizers, managers, etc. These roles are open to anyone who wants them and proves to me that they deserve them.

  1. How the frig do you find the time to do all of this?? Write these blogs, reply to all these comments, handle all your other biz, diss hot chicks you're on dates with for taking selfies?? I mean, it's probably because I have a Family which takes up a vast majority of my time, but I can barely comprehend where and how you find enough hours in the day to do all this shit man! Frankly, it's pretty frickin' impressive. Cheers dude.

I have 3 priorities right now in life:

  1. Do Muay Thai
  2. Spend ~2 hours a day at the beach
  3. Make reliable income online so I don't run out of money and have to go back to selling hair straighteners

The first two activities only take a few hours out of my day. The rest of the day I'm pretty much on the computer all the time. If an opportunity comes along where I meet a girl who is interesting enough to spend a few hours with, then I'll let my discipline slip a little.

Also, I don't have a family.

Thank you brother.

Huh. Good answers and good points. I now see your reasoning, having one person you can trust is definitely worth 100 you don't really know or don't really need. Thanks for taking the time to answer, very classy of ya.

And ya, nothing is more important to me than my family and I love them with all I am. But I do sometimes mourn the loss of my free time and the opportunity to get to spend some quality time with some more members of the fairer sex.

(also, I just read your 100-hours-a-week article and, ya, Nootropics! I've been meaning to check them out. Thanks. May you stay hair straightener free forever! )
