I just got back from today's run.
It is hot and humid today, with a heat index of 91.4 Degrees Fahrenheit, and 74% humidity.
I thought I had run about five miles. In truth, I ran about 3.2. I usually run at night, so this daytime run was a first.
People often comment on my photos here on Steemit and say things like "It's cloudy. It doesn't look hot." To them I say:
Come visit me, my child, and see how the steamy death, summer-heat-wet-blanket-asphyxiation, sub-tropical dankness of Japan will sap your will to live!
(Maybe that's a little over the top?)
It was not easy for me, but alas, I completed it.
Have been in a bit of a funk the last two days, so I am glad I could get out there.
Was I "motivated"? No. Not really. Please check out the video linked below to understand why "motivation is bullsh*t!" Elliott Hulse describes motivation as a useful force to jumpstart one into action (a spark) but a useless phenomenon when not followed up with discipline (fanning the spark into flames and keeping the fire lit).
Today's Run:
DISTANCE: 3.2 miles.
THEME SONG: "Lips Like Sugar" - Echo and the Bunnymen
PLAYLIST SO FAR:
"Under the Pressure" - The War on Drugs
"Somewhere" - Soundgarden
"Owner of a Lonely Heart" - Yes
"Rose Garden" - Lynn Anderson
"Napalm Love" - Air
"Lips Like Sugar" - Echo and the Bunnymen
So, the takeaway is: It's hot. Motivation is bullshit. Keep on trucking! THAT! is my motivation today ;)

lol! I nearly fell off my chair when I read your description about how hot it is. hehehe!!! I don't run, or walk... or do much exercise at all if I am honest... except perhaps with my fingers on my keyboard. hahaha! I would most definitely fall over and die if I attempted what you seemingly do with ease :)
(Yes, yes, I know - I need to do something about that. lol)
I do however, like your playlist selections so far :)
Haha. Thank you :)
pleasure lol :)
what about hiring a man to stab urself and running for a life... lol
:D
Lol!
Good effort, running in the sun makes a big difference! You have to drink plenty of fluids as well in comparison as running at night.
I find free running outside challenging as I get bored easy because of all the fluride I have ingested in my life time. That's why I stick to the treadmill and stick a movie up to distract me from the pain.
One clear benefit is your vitamin D from sunlight #winning.
I have really wanted to start running again! I hope I get the motivation to do it again. I just seem to get deprassed fast since I run out of breathe really quickly. Any tips you can share?
I used to feel the same way. What has worked for me is not pushing to hard. When your body has had enough, just stop. Then the next time you can go just a little bit farther. Have fun.
Will do! Please keep encouraging us!
All day, everyday 😮
Interesting your a night runner, I'm always jogging in the AM to get the blood flowing, will have to try a night run soon. Peace!
I think motivation is important, but only to jumpstart whatever you are doing... at least in my case... once you got your ass moving, adrenaline and endorphines are taking over... the rest is easy...
Congrats on getting out and running in that heat!
Congrats!! saty healthy think forward and be motivated btw thanks for the lovely blog i like it.
Cheers, thank you!
'Lips like sugar' nice one
I love it!
Well it is very difficult to run for a mile in this hot and humid climate. Main problem is created by humidity. With a single step, sweat just rushing through our skin. I used to run for miles when I was trainning for my job, I would say it's really very sweaty and tiring. I understand your pain. Lol. :) @kafkanarchy84
Thanks! Glad I am not alone!
When its hot outside i go sit in a freezer
Definitely worth an upvote and a resteem :)
Cheers!
Unfortunately, at my home It was raining too. Thank you for motivating me

Somehow running and blogging clash in my mind . Maybe it's just a balanced thing .
Holy balls... or England we say "Dogs bollocks"!!!
good
you can always go to gym and there will be no different for you is it summer or winter;) its dangerous to run a lot in hot summer days so dont risk your life haha.
is it as humid there as it is here in Indiana? There has been a ton of rain this year and I would swear the entrance to hell is opening up here with how humid it has been. I don't do running but I do hike nearly every day.
That video was pretty motivating there brother! Thank you for sharing!
