Death Wish

Once again, Hollywood is remaking a classic film, rather than coming up with new ideas. Those of us in the industry know that Hollywood's biggest fear is to lose their control over Hollywood. That's why new directors rarely get the chance to produce something in Hollywood. And, they'll sink millions into an old idea repackaged, before they'll sink a dime into a new idea. This is why movie ticket sales have slumped, while Netflix and You Tube get millions of viewers every day. I've been aware of this for some time, and my heart was broken when the Robocop reboot came out. The original Robocop was awesome.  I still haven't seen the new Star Wars episode who cares: A New Cash Grab. I have little hope for the new Death Wish. I liked it more when it was called Die Hard.  It all kinda bums me out.  The only movies I like anymore are the Marvel films, because there's a lot of imagination in Guardians of the Galaxy and the new Thor looks like it will be good. But, the Justice League trailer looks like a marketing team poled a test audience to find out how to repair the damage caused by Batman v Superman.  I guess what I'm trying to say is: Hollywood sucks.

Sort:

and it'll be a politically correct one i guarantee

You have to remember that Hollywood is a business. They remake, reboot, and rerelease existing properties because that's the closest thing they have to a guarantee. Sixteen of the twenty highest grossing films this year were based on existing IPs. If people want more originality on the big screen, they need to vote with their wallets and actually show up when an exciting new movie is released.

I'm voting with my wallet already. I hope others do soon. Before they release a Knight Rider movie. Or maybe they'll put out a Magnum P.I. Movie. They haven't done that yet. After CHIPs I'm surprised there isn't a Rockford Files movie.
