You have to remember that Hollywood is a business. They remake, reboot, and rerelease existing properties because that's the closest thing they have to a guarantee. Sixteen of the twenty highest grossing films this year were based on existing IPs. If people want more originality on the big screen, they need to vote with their wallets and actually show up when an exciting new movie is released.
I'm voting with my wallet already. I hope others do soon. Before they release a Knight Rider movie. Or maybe they'll put out a Magnum P.I. Movie. They haven't done that yet. After CHIPs I'm surprised there isn't a Rockford Files movie.
