When the next big, sleek, juicy gravy train left the station, no banker was left behind. Hallelujah!
Ry Cooder – “No Banker Left Behind”
“No Banker Left Behind” (2011)
Although Ry Cooder has long been a perceptive chronicler of Americana, he had generally steered clear of political topics. But with the crash of 2008 and the subsequent criminal bailout of banksters, executives, and other notorious fraudsters, he realized that there was “something you can do other than just sit and fume about everything.”So, Cooder picked up his sword-pen and his guitar, and wrote this clever song skewering those who destroyed the economy and got rewarded for it.
A Sleek, Juicy Gravy Train … Reserved for Banksters
When the shit hit the fan, putting the nation and all of its citizens at risk, the powers-that-be stepped up and saved … the bankers.
But the poor, the middle class, and even the not-so-rich were tossed aside and left behind. The wealthiest nation in the history of the world did not have enough resources to save those less-fortunate citizens, or even assist them.

My telephone rang one evening, my buddy called for me
Said the bankers are all leavin', you better come round and see
Its startling revelation, they robbed the nation blind
They're all down at the station, no banker left behind No banker, no banker, no banker could I find
They were all down at the station, no banker left behind Well, the bankers called a meetin', to the White House they went one day
They was going to call on the president, in a quiet and a sociable way
The afternoon was sunny and the weather it was fine
They counted all our money, and no banker was left behind No banker, no banker, no banker could I find
They were all down at the White House, no banker was left behind
Well, I hear the whistle blowin', it plays a happy tune
The conductor is calling "All aboard, we'll be leavin' soon”
With champagne and shrimp cocktails and that's not all you'll find
There's a billion-dollar bonus, and no banker left behind No banker, no banker, no banker could I find
When the train pulled out next mornin', no banker was left behind No banker, no banker, no banker could I find
When the train pulled out next mornin', no banker was left behind No banker, no banker, no banker could I find
They were all down at the station, no banker left behind No banker, no banker, no banker could I find
When the train pulled out next mornin', no banker was left behind (Image source)

Hi @majes.tytyty
Everything what the letter of this song says happened in Venezuela. I just read the post then I saw the video but the most comical was to see the lyrics of this Comedy / Satire reflected in something that actually happened.
The 1994 banking crisis in Venezuela was a massive insolvency process that affected almost a third of private commercial banks, causing the disappearance of some of the most emblematic financial institutions and the collapse of that country's private economic system. The process began with a strong banking run at the beginning of February 1994, followed by a series of considerable monetary contributions from the State to help the banks with problems, reaching their subsequent nationalization, which was completed at the end of that year. Of the affected banks, the most renowned were Banco Latino, Banco Consolidado and Banco de Venezuela. The crisis lasted until 1995.
I did not know that, but it's good to hear.
In the US, they've had 2 huge such bailouts in the past 20 years. The first was in 1998, when the banks got together to bailout the hedge fund LTCM. Then in 2008, the government stepped in to bailout the huge investment banks and various other corporations (which is what inspired Cooder to write this song).
It's always the same. The bankers / fraudsters / criminals are saved and assisted. The common man is left to struggle on his / her own.
Also, it's good to remind people that the 1994 "collapse of Venezuela's economic system" happened before Chavez came to power. The mainstream media tells us that Venezuela's economic difficulties began with Chavez.
Anyone who is willing to do some basic research will soon find that Venezuela's problems did not begin with Chavez, nor with Maduro. The roots of the problem go much deeper.
Not trying to be a ball buster but the #DSound tag should not be used for posts that have nothing to do with @dsound. It makes curating the community extremely difficult and since you are bidbotting your posts, it’s taking up the entire front page of trending.
The community is small and needs all the help it can get. Instead of spamming the tag, please consider curating the work that the creatives are posting to the @dsound dapp.
Thanks for your input. I had wondered if it was appropriate to include that tag, and just went ahead with it. I'm sorry for any inconvenience or confusion caused.
I will delete the phrase "dsound" from my template, and refrain from using that tag in all future posts.
Thanks again, and I do appreciate your input and advice.
Cheers, and Full Steem Ahead.
That's very considerate of you! It really does muddy the waters a bit. That being said, since you've been such a good sport about it I will start upvoting your content.
As you build SP, definitely consider supporting the @dsound community. It's one of the most hardworking groups of folks in crypto right now and there is literally no other crypto music Dapp to publish on right now thats even close.
My pleasure. We have a great platform and wonderful community, and I'll do whatever is necessary to support and grow the community.
I'll start upvoting you, too. And of course, as I build more SP, I'll do what I can to support you, your cohort, and others.
