Before I get into plans and goals for 2022, it's recap time and a look at the (rather different) 6 tracks I released in 2021...
Looking back on the year, it's been one of exploration. Of experimenting with genres and collaborating with other musicians. The resulting tracks then are very different to one another. Lets take a look through them in the order they came out...
Cosmic - ØLSKXX Remix
Released 30th April 2021 on Electronic Alliance Records
In his remix of my song with Rocco LDN, ØLSKXX’s approach turned it into a downtempo electronica track with lofi and chillstep vibes.
So very different to the original - almost a new track in it's own right. This experience very much opened my eyes (and ears!) to the power of collaborations...

Tenacity - Original Mix
Released 19th June 2021 on Electronic Alliance Records
When I sent Primaudia Record the stems of my unreleased project exploring modular synthesis this was the result. I would never in a million years have produced something this powerful on my own - though it still has a core of a TDC Tunes sound in the synth melodies...
Listen to Tenacity - Original Mixx
Impression (from Escapism Mixtape)
Released 1st July 2021 on Oakhi Records
Stemming from the collaboration with ØLSKXX, I was invited to submit a track for Escapism Vol 1 - a compilation mixtape featuring 15 different producers.
Being a Lo-fi/downtempo compilation, this was a genre I was inexperienced at so I really did my research listening to a lot of other music before I set out on this one. For the final track I played electric piano and combined it with sounds from the modular and beats on the computer.
It's also my first and so far only physical release being available on cassette tape!

Tenacity - Future Never Cut
Released 9th July 2021 on Electronic Alliance Records
This extended mix of Tenacity came out shortly after the original - with it's 5 minute play time giving more scope to build up to the gigantic noise explosion that Primaudia has crafted.
It also spawned an official video and a special edition bandcamp release which includes both released versions, as well as bonus artwork and a recording of a live modular version of the track I performed on Brixton Radio.

135 Senses
Released 27 August 2021 on Electronic Alliance Records
135 Senses was my contribution to the Electronic Music Alliance compilation Project 135. An album of 15 different tracks from 15 artists, all at 135 BPM.
This track was an attempt to capture some of the essence from my live modular sets and turn them into a released track. I later even went full circle and put samples from the track back into the modular and further developed them on subsequent live radio shows.
Traveller’s Path
Released 26 November 2021 on Stick Up Music - @stickupofficial1
I originally composed this track over 2 years ago, but never before released it officially and decided it was time as it is still one of my favourites.
This is an improved and completely remastered version and also has (since by this time I'd discovered Hive!):
- an NFT record version in @risingstargame
- an artwork NFT on @nftshowroom and
- a full length video on @threespeak!
And that's my 6 releases for 2021. I imagine 2022 will also be a year of experimentation. I'm especially hoping to work on and improve the synergy between the live improvised modular I do and the tracks I do. More about that soon!
Nice clutch of releases! Nice work.
Hey thanks so much @fatasfunk and thanks again for a great job mixing 135 senses and mastering Traveller's Path!

bro @ me when that drops
Sure will do!
That's an impressive achievement, 6 tracks and all on Spotify as well. What about this 2nd 'Cosmic' release on Spotify which didn't get a real mentioning and a dedicated link in your post?
I don't know a lot about modular. But I do know it's very difficult to reproduce some sound, let alone an entire track. I even believe you mentioned that sometime during your live sets. Am wondering how you go about producing and recording a track? Are you constantly recording and afterwards you cut the parts out of the recordings that become your track?
Owww, Happy New Year :)
Hey! Thanks so much for checking out my music!
The other version of Cosmic on Spotify is the original and came out in December 2020, hence it didn't get into the list of all the music I released in 2021. I'm hoping there will be one more remix of it released in 2022 actually if all goes to plan! Here's a link with both the original and ØLSKXX versions: https://www.tdctunes.com/listen/cosmic
Your second question about how I go about producing and recording a track with modular is an excellent one - and to be honest I'm still figuring it out. Some of my released music doesn't use modular much at all, and was primarily DAW (Ableton) based. I've been working though on the best ways to capture some of the things I do in the live modular sets and work on turning them into produced tracks.
At the moment I'm doing separate 'recording' sessions on the modular where I capture anything good as audio track by track in the computer and then later go on to piece bits together and arrange as a track. But it's a work in progress workflow and to be honest this is one of my main musical goals for 2022 so I'll be posting a lot more about this as I figure it out.
And Happy New Year!
A friend has some modular stuff. I think he mostly uses some samples from modular to mix with Ableton and 'normal' hardware.
Another friend worked with some big-time modular users living in Berlin. He makes like 60+ minute recordings. Apparently, when he is requested to release a track, he has difficulties to do so, since he needs to start cutting his lengthy recordings to vinyl size. A task that comes hard with him. I'll ask him as well if he knows the way of work of the Berlin guy (well, technically not a Berlin guy, since he is from Chile, but lives already for a long time in German Techno city).
I can only wish you a lot of fun this year and hopefully, you'll master modular-to-tracks from left to right 🎧🎹
Ok yeah interesting. There are a bunch of ways to integrate modular and to approach using it for composition and recording.
I do have a Midi to CV converter that I've used in the past with it so that I can compose in Ableton but use modular sounds.
There's also the approach to use it for sound design and sample individual sounds for use in the DAW.
But what I'm working on is capturing some of the essence of my live sets which are completely improvised. They dont' easily translate to releasable tracks for a bunch of reasons - like your friend they are often long 60 minute sets and the evolve over time with slow builds as sudden changes are difficult live on the modular.
So I'm looking at some kind of hybrid where I capture the individual voices/tracks from the live sets and then use those as material for a produced track. I did for the first time manage to capture 4 of the main parts from last night's set separately so I'll have a go with those and see if this workflow is successful.
But yes it's definitely fun and wonderful and the possibilities are endless!
Keep me posted if you find out any more about the workflow's of your modular friends and thanks so much for commenting!
I do hope you'll come up with some you like with the recorded channels.
Thanks so much! I have some extra time this January so hoping to do a lot of recording!
