Do you have any tricks for travel planning?

I'm stalking TripAdvisor pretty much, but even then it's pretty hard to put together even a vague plan. Or I'm just pretty indecisive. I do like even not planning things and just winging it but at the very least should have a vague idea of where I'm going. It's just so easy to put off planning when I'm in the middle of it.

Sort:

Determine exactly each step

In each trip to the places to be visited, determine that the right and detailed journey. For example, the travel time to the airport. Look at what can be done like eating before you get there.

The estimation can be known by knowing the bus development schedule, the level of congestion on the way, or choosing to go to the airport with a rental vehicle.

Advanced flights are key

for flights in your vacation time can be a vulnerable point. Engine changes will increase aircraft requirements or flight schedules. In addition, flights will also affect your time at the airport. If you cannot avoid transit on an airline, choose a schedule that is too close. Take flight schedules with several hours to change planes and provide anticipation in case of flight delays.

Use websites and applications

In the era of information technology is currently presented sites and applications that help in making itenerary and also share travel stories. For example the Triplt.com site that allows users to create automatically and also for friends and family. You can automatically enter information related to your trip such as maps, directions, and weather in it. Tripcase.com is also similar to Triplt.com which provides the same services that help in organizing your trip. Currently it will send flight schedules, vehicles, hotel lists and other confirmations.

It is TripHobo.com that works to organize and help you gather information. Simply enter the starting and ending point of your trip, then this site will provide information about how to reach the place, what activities can be done, info on attractions such as opening hours, ticket prices, and estimated time if you want to visit these places.

Determine the best plan

The itenerary that you compile cannot be put together because it is a rough concept. All who have escaped can miss. Insert free days into your itenerary to find the interesting things that you discovered during a trip that was not known before. The best habits are those that are flexible. Other things that can be done are the details of every detail of the travel times used for the bathroom.

Well as a constant traveller I have many tricks, so here goes....

Firstly, don't plan too much! Just have a list of places youbfeel you must visit and then I often I find just booking a flight and first couple of nights accomodation is enough. When I arrive, I check oit the locality on foot and find a coffee shop and sort out the next steps from there on my laptop. Coffee shops are great places to meet locals and get some ideas what to do from their recommendations.

Secondly, dont go crazy trying to find a flight thats a dollar less on one site than it is on another.Life is too short and you can spend hours. If its a reputable site and youre happy, just book it! There is very little price difference to choose between many of the flight booking sites. I almost always use expedia.

Thirdly, Use booking.com for hotels and make sure they have free cancellation and payment on arrival.  Plans change, its your holiday!

Fourthly, join facebook groups for where youre going, there is lots of great info to be had there.

Fifth. Travel light. Whybtake loads of stuff to carry when you get very cheap laundry service where youre going.  Dont carry stuff you dont need, it hinders your progress.

Sixth, stay in local areas away from tourists as much as possible, you learn and enjoy things so much more. Did you travel so far just to meet people from your own country?

Finally, I always carry a packet of cigs, a few packs of cheap coloured pencils and some colouring books as these are great ice breakers to start conversations and make new friends.

Hope this helps and have a great trip :-)

I like your style, this is how I like to travel places too. Though at the moment I need something more structured because more people are involved. But I think I'll probably just pick one main thing and roughly have ideas for how to use the surrounding time. Thanks for your inputs!

As a regular traveller, hunting cheap ticket is like a passion and hobby for me. I've found 200+ euro return tickets from Europe to Asia a couple of times, also have found business class tickets for economy price (600-700 euro range).

I'm using flyerstalk forum a lot, where a lot of frequent travellers hunt cheap tickets. There are tons of website offering so called error fare tickets, such as secretflying etc. But of course you will have to be lucky and spontaneous in this case.

Otherwise, have you heard about ITA Matrix power by google? A good tool especially for open-jaw tickets. Or websites like kiwi.com, momondo also pretty decent if you are not used to ITA matrix's UI.

Oooh these seem like great tips. Thanks! I feel like one of these days I'll pick a flight and a location just whatever is cheapest and see what happens!
