Prostitution is a career choice, whether legal or not. Whether a woman or man chooses it is no one’s business but that individual’s, and legality does not change that.
Legalizing would not eliminate rape, but could reasonably be expected to reduce, given men could seek servicing without discrimination to satisfy their needs rather than take by force. I’m quite certain many WOULD roll down to a brothel to get their rocks off before raping. Not all, but some - which would lead to a reduction in rates.
“Prostitution is the oldest profession.” IT CAN NEVER BE BANNED. Every single country it is illegal in, it still exists in abundance. The illegality of it does NOT make people make more responsible - IT MAKES IT ALL MORE DANGEROUS.
For the women, as there is no protection against johns abusing them. For the clients, as there are no health standards for STD testing. And the illegality allows for a thriving black market without any human rights standards, leading to human trafficking and horrific abuse.
I get where you’re coming from. But you’re basing your argument on IDEALS and theory rather than an objective assessment of REALITY, and are just straight WRONG on this.
