The Ninjamine is actually the main issue for me why investors are afraid to seek opportunities with Steem.
While it is there and cannot be "undone", I love to see them following @teamsteem's proposition - Time lock their Steems. It doesn't matter if they upvote or not, as long as their using the money for a great purpose - the community will understand.
Laying off 70% of the team and promising the complete utilization of SMT on March 2019 is a complete mess now. I just don't know what happens in the future. As a believer of Steem, I'm afraid we're on the wrong track now.
Hey, @jlordc.
Well, thanks to the Ned's livestream, we now no a little more about what happened, who's still around and at least a decent idea of where Steemit is headed, and for the most part, it looks like where they've been headed—working on the blockchain, not working on their UI.
So, who knows what those 70% were doing. Ned did say that the same core blockchain engineers that were there two weeks ago are still there now.
So, we'll see. I agree, though, it's definitely disconcerting. I guess we'll see more of what's happening in the coming days and weeks. Always waiting to see when the next shoe is going to drop.

I would say the amount of money they've had and gone through is very troubling, @anonsteve, so I agree with you. It makes me wonder just what people were doing and whether or not they were moving the company vision forward, or finding ways to change it or slow it down. Who knows why anyone would want to do that, but as you mentioned, easy money has a way of distorting reality.
Ned's livestream today did answer some questions, but then created quite a few others, including just what has been his role in all of this if the company was heading off in directions he didn't want it to go in. He's in charge. Why wasn't it going the way he wanted it to? Who else was making decisions? Why was he letting things get added on that he didn't want in the first place?
Sounds like scope creep to me. They need someone with serious project management skills. I wonder how much the new CFO guy had to do with this. He probably saw the books and started pulling his hair out. :)

Thanks for your take on this, @jassennessaj.
Having watched nearly all of Ned's livestream today, I've been kind of shaking my head more. I have nothing to do with Steemit or their inner workings, but I have ran a business, and on the face of it, it looked like they were trying to be all things to all people, when really, they couldn't and shouldn't be all things.
According to Ned, they drifted from their central mission—global adoption of a cryptocurrency, and making the best blockchain. Which, on the surface, seems odd, since Steemit the dApp is hardly a next gen, cutting edge interface. So what were all those other employees doing if they weren't working on the blockchain?
At any rate, it leaves me wondering at it all, even if the impact on STEEM itself proves to be negligible.

After the last hard fork and how that went down, and how it's still affecting people with low RCs, I had to wonder what was going on, @frames. Something just hasn't been right.
I can see this layoff and refocusing on costs and mission being the best thing that could have happened to Steemit Inc., but things like this shouldn't really happen in the first place. At least, not to the degree that it did, and still not manage to deliver on times, and now put in jeopardy the delivery of SMTs.
I do believe the price of STEEM will rise again, along with the broader market, I'm just hoping that it won't become business as usual if it does.

I am not taking part on any side what actually happened is that the immigrants stormed into the US through a fence. I saw the video, I live in Mexico so as you can imagine it is all over the news. I believe it is a tough call either way.

I disagree.
Prostitution is a career choice, whether legal or not. Whether a woman or man chooses it is no one’s business but that individual’s, and legality does not change that.
Legalizing would not eliminate rape, but could reasonably be expected to reduce, given men could seek servicing without discrimination to satisfy their needs rather than take by force. I’m quite certain many WOULD roll down to a brothel to get their rocks off before raping. Not all, but some - which would lead to a reduction in rates.
“Prostitution is the oldest profession.” IT CAN NEVER BE BANNED. Every single country it is illegal in, it still exists in abundance. The illegality of it does NOT make people make more responsible - IT MAKES IT ALL MORE DANGEROUS.
For the women, as there is no protection against johns abusing them. For the clients, as there are no health standards for STD testing. And the illegality allows for a thriving black market without any human rights standards, leading to human trafficking and horrific abuse.
I get where you’re coming from. But you’re basing your argument on IDEALS and theory rather than an objective assessment of REALITY, and are just straight WRONG on this.

I didn't imply that ALL rape was due to lack of access to prostitution, but some cases.

Thank's a lot for your enriching answer, that as always acts in me as a high stimulant to write.
High quality commenting like this, should guide Steemit, and
musing is an effective boom for the vision and strategy of Steemit, and a lesson to follow.
I've been writing a mini-essay on Steemit, about the dialectics of self-liberation, using anarchism, existentialism, and decentralism, and the deeper I go the more I feel that all the paths lead to the same goal of individuals less dependent on reality constraints and parameters.
In the first place, we must get off the common sense conception of anarchy as chaos, because it is the best method to get a constant social equilibrium, and I see actual chaos as generated by centralized power,
The Open-source "conspiration" was the pillar of the blockchain and is one of the biggest revolutions in human thought and action because for the first time a technology has a sociological implication made possible by the concept of decentralization that is the inner deep dream of any anarchist, activist or individualist.
The question of trust for the real anarchist is that weight of responsibility that replaces any social contract.
I believe that anarchy, the search for our inner-self, and decentralization are today working on the blockchain as a technology that made it practically possible, and that will lead a confluence of values y similarities in the goals.
"The philosophy of decentralism is mainly associated with libertarianism and anarcho-capitalism, but it is against centralism, opposing the results of free trade, which will lead to the exploitation and abuse of human rights, which is a common result of centralization. "
Decentralism is kind of libertarianism opposed to exploitation in a non-free market, using monopolistic dominance.
The concept of decentralization in the blockchain is not the same of the theoretical pre-movements because it was born with a technology attached to a supra-theory of total decentralism, the wish of any anarchist, individualist, and activist, that will show as the way to re-empower ourselves against the constraints of centralized institutions.
Marxism’s commitment to “centralism” gave birth to the communist totalitarian state capitalism, by the total concentration of power over free will, the points of view anarchist and decentralism want to fight
"Anarchism and Existentialism have the common points of refusing centralized authority, but the former believe power corrupts people and the latter believe that people corrupt power and themselves with the norms and we must always be vigilant to eliminate their influence."
I will stop here before writing a book... hehe
Thanks

Hi, and thanks a lot for your added-value and motivating comment
The big problem with the concept of anarchism is totally built by society's propaganda and the perfect scapegoat to sacrifice, when centralized, imperialist/colonialist create chaos in the world.
The common sense and media mainstream give an example for anarchy the Somalia chaos, assassinations, destruction, social unrest, inequality, and wars are the attributes of actual hegemonic imperialist capitalism, and not for Anarchy that it is the only solution to fix it.
So propaganda calls Anarchy the chaos imperialist powers generate, like the example of a mob ruled ochlarchy (mobs power) happening in Somalia today.
Decentralization of power is the best form of unstable equilibrium in the social order and the end of wars.
Decentralism will be the science of implementation of decentralized consensus mechanisms at the technically and collective social decision making.
Anarchy is being responsible for our acts.
Anarchy makes a gun out of our conscience, and that's why there is no place for activists based in taking power by force or use organized violence by collective groups ( peaceful Occupy and strikes are not violence) because extreme behaviors only feed the strengthing of the System and reinforce its authority.

Hmmm.. Do you still believe your parents need you and waiting you freedom from the jal!
They don't need me of course, we got a big family but i was giving a exacmple of why i would break the law.....
Some situations just require actions to get people to safety, like a robber needs to get beat down real fast, and the only way would be to take him down, is to use violence. And if he gets hurt then so be it and i would take full responsibility and would go to jail with a smile. Going to jail for a good cause is nothing and they would wait for me yes!

Right. Right. I think I've come across the thought that the title might be a major plot revealer.
Anyway like you said, no point obesseing over a title. It's just so weird and so marvel that they'd create so much hysteria over it.
Cheers man!
Well, as I said, I hope it actually works for them rather than backfiring. I shake my head at how far things have come in 35 years or so, back when I was really into Marvel Comics, they were talking about movies back then. This hype would have been harder to generate without the internet—fan mail wouldn't have done it—and most of us were young and awestruck by everything they did. Today, not so much. Everyone's a critic. :)
so true.

I will just refer you to this post because it seems you might have some misconceptions about how steem works and the current state of the blockchain:
https://steemit.com/steem/@markkujantunen/it-s-time-to-put-away-childish-things
That's a wrong assumption. Seems you didn't read what I wrote. There are other ways for Steemit Inc to generate funds.
I did and I still stand with the fact that many, like yourself, seem to have a negative perception about ads. But in my opinion, it is the best way to go now that the pool is red and we are all fighting for our damn lives! We cannot depend on the reward pool. Fresh investment need to get into the system. Yes, steemmonster is doing a great job in creating an avenue where fiat money is being pumped into the steem blockchain. The venture is worth +$1m. That amount would have tripled if they had those ads functions. And like many apps do, there are options for those who do not want to see those annoying ads on their screen--they pay. How much of your earning are you willing to part with?
Posted using Partiko Android
I understand your points regarding the rewards pool. Ned is already considering Ads, he's weighing the options available. You probably wouldn't know though, not having Ads was one of Steemit's unique selling point that set it apart from other social networks when it was launched. If they are to back on that, there'll be adverse effects.
I used Utopian.io while they were taking 25% as beneficiary rewards. I wouldn't mind a cut from my rewards.
We both want what is best for the platform, but hold contrary views.
