Let our imagination fly. If the penguin knew that they can't fly and were just trying and failing at it like Thomas Edison and Colonel Sanders. They would all try and fail better until some day what is called the Black Swan principle would happen, just there in front of our surprised eyes. One of the penguins found the solution to fly and would share his knowledge with others. And we would put our certainties of superiority towards the other species in jeopardy.
I like the idea that things we cannot believe would happen could really occur. May be the other species are delayed in their evolution and will also evolve in a smarter way than mankind. They see which failure we make and go-around that to make things way differently.
Just a matter of imagination, though, I think that anything can happen.
