The strangler fig (genus Ficus) is definitely an advantageous exploiter, competitively excluding their host from photosynthesizing over the long-term, through a process known as thigmotropism. Thigmotropism is the process by which plants respond to touch through bending and turning as they grow. Very interesting indeed!
