Pothos: The Perfect Plant

in #nature6 years ago

Pothos plants were my gateway into keeping and caring for plants. And it’s easy to understand why. They are beautiful, vibrant, and easy to care for.

Money Plant, Golden Pothos, Variegated Leaves, Ivy Arum

While they were my first type of houseplants, they are also my absolute favorite. I love them for their ease of propagation; should a leaf be torn off by little toddler hands, all is not lost. The leaf’s stem can be placed in a small glass of water and within weeks it will have roots, to be planted anew or left to grow in the water. These plants are also remarkably easy, as far as plant caregiving goes. If they are thirsty, their droopy leaves will let you know, and they will perk back up soon after a watering. Pothos plants don’t require much light, and can fare well in dimly lit corners, bathrooms with small windows, and other low light environments.

Devil’s Ivy, another name for pothos, is without a doubt beautiful. The lovely green trailing vines, the full pots of leaves leaning toward the light. Another added bonus of keeping this plant around is it’s air-purifying benefits. Pothos will remove harmful chemicals, such as formaldehyde and benzene from the air.
