Easy pick for me here. The Big Fundamental is one of the all-time greats and there are a few reasons he was my favorite player when active and remains my favorite currently. First, he came into the league right about the time I started watching the NBA and for my favorite team. I felt as though I grew up with him and as his career blossomed, I blossomed as a human right along side him. The fact that he was one of the most coachable guys on the floor and never let the limelight get the best of him. He's quiet, like myself and I actually modeled my own basketball repertoire to match his (I'll be honest, his was much more successful, but I do have a great bank shot now). Lastly, he was always willing to do what was best for the team above all. Whether that was sitting in crucial moments to create a better matchup, or taking a large paycut to sign other players, I always respected his team first mentality.

Oh and being one of the longest tenured players with a single team and winning 5 championships over his 19 year career doesn't hurt.

My all time favorite player is Jason Kidd. I love him because he made me understand that scoring is not always the most important part of the game. He would make the most crisp passes and would battle for rebounds in the paint with the bigs. I wish he could of got a championship though.

Hell yeah.i love the no look pass of kidd..its like he has eyes on his back.haha..lol

no wonder you would mention Lonzo ball because his best comparison is actually jason kidd :)

What are you smoking?

lol.

I am not a lonzo ball fan, but I think the top 5 pick in this year have decent chance to become something great.

Being so young, the first star I fell in love with and continue to love is the King.

LBJ is easily my favorite player of all-time. His size, athleticism, speed, and skill packaged together is unmatched--yes, even with Jordan. His command and control of the game is genius...watching him orchestrate the offense is simply brilliant. What more needs to be said?

Penny Hardaway for was favorite player as a kid. That Magic with Shaq could have been something special if they stayed together. It's too bad injuries destroyed Penny's career.

just try to remind people how good penny was before the injury.

Haha..i love this guy too..penny hardaway..i have collected some of nba cards of this guy when he was in orlando.

Kevin Garnett is my favorite NBA player - his passion and desire is second to none

Definitely one of the most determined player in the NBA, shows a lot of heart.

So many great players out here. Hard to choose, but for sure my ones are Porzingis and Bertans, cause how could i not say my local guys :)

Not gonna talk here about all legends like Jordan, Magic, and others , many of them deserve to be someones favorite player :)

I love this. Let promote NBA on steemit. Great idea. Im following you

Im looking forward to your posts. Just try not to talk about the Ball family. Im so tired of hearing about them. Hahahah

thanks. I am sure I will talk less on Lavar ball as it seems he is one of the hottest topic lately :)

also please discuss in relation to today's topic to be eligible to win the free SBD :)

me gusta la idea :D

My favorite player in the NBA right now is Giannis from the Milwaukee Bucks. You can tell I didn't even attempt to spell his last name haha. I had the opportunity to watch him closely as he took on my Toronto Raptors in the first round of playoffs this year. My goodness is he talented or what?! He gets to the rim at will and is a matchup nightmare. The Raptors tried to put a lot of different people on him to give him different looks but it didn't change anything. He single handedly kept his team in the series and made it very competitive. I feel like he has a very bright future and the sky is the limit for this young phenom. To put it into perspective the Rookie of the Year award went to his teammate Malcolm Brogdan who is two years OLDER than Giannis. I really can see him as an MVP in the coming years. Cheers!

The GREEK FREAK!

The human alphabet!

Haha just use his nicknames. It's easier! Follow if you're a basketball fan. I'm looking to follow back everyone involved in the sports steemit community :)

Active or retired? When is the contest over?

Btw, Kobe. Porzingis.

both active or retired are ok.

The contest is over when the payout is released.

Thanks, update in the post :)

Mi jugador favorito es el ya retirado Kobe Bryant(Black mamba)

the Black Mamba!!!

Hello.i love basketball since i was a kid..im following almost all of your posts.
My favorite player is kobe..but he retired..now my favorite is klay thompson..his quality of playing offense at the same time defense is like both A+ for a player.I love his long range shots!

thanks :) People really underestimated Klay defensive ability and thought he is only one of splash bro. :)

Thank you for agreeing with me..i love splash brothers.
I have this new post about my own dreamteam.if you have time you can visit it

Thank you so much. https://steemit.com/steemsports/@iamkunaning/build-your-basketball-dreamteam

Great article to introduce the Unicorn. Upvoted your post over there. I wish NY will hold on to him.

All times Magic Johnson, great creator of the play, his assists were a real magic. Now G. Dragić the future of basketball is speed, and Speed=Dragić

Goran Dragic is also one of my favourite player as I am a Suns fans :)

Lebron James, started wathcing NBA the year he joined miami with dwade and bosh..
Lebron with the death stare is just gg for any opponent (ask celtics 2012 ;)

notable players though: Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Ray Allen

LBJ, hands down, the best player in the NBA now. He could do it all.

Derrick Rose... before his knee injuries it was pure entertainment to watch him play. His explosiveness was insane. Derrick Rose is the youngest MVP in the MVPs history!

yes what a player without the injury. he was basically unstoppable at that time. I wish he will be his old self or at least 50% of his old.

<<<who is your favourite NBA player? (Active or Retired)>>>

Well, I would say Iverson is my favourite definitely, I love the way he plays, other than sport, the way he plays basketball is like an art to me. He is really really awesome and amazing, the best player to me ever.

Bill Russell
#1 Changed how the sport was played... fast breaks, blocking into teammates hands, faster pace, defense wins championships. Won probably never-broken 11 championships, 5 more than MJ, 6 more than Kobe.
#2 Black Coach in a tough era. Was first major sports black coach, AND won championship while coaching. Took a LOT of flack in Boston.
#3 Champion of his teammates.
#4 Hated Boston fans, just like we do! (kidding, or are we?)
#5 Did it all while the NBA world was busy hating-on black athletes, and it took decades for anyone to respect him. Bill Simmons did a LOT to bring the guy back to focus and proper historical prespective.

and we second the motion for Tim Duncan, if you don't pick Russell that is.

My current favorite player has to be Jimmy Butler. He's a young, tenacious defender that always goes hard. Sad to see him go to away from the Bulls since I liked him there, but there's lots of new potential with him in Minnesota. To add to his defense is his underrated scoring ability. I love his hard play and ability to get by defenders to make tough finishes at the bucket. I'm looking forward to see how he does this season and hoping Minnesota is a good fit.

Tim Duncan was my favorite. Miss him

I guess Steph Curry is my favorite., because he's not physically gifted like Labron, or 7 ft tall like Kareem..but he's worked hard and honed his craft and continues to do so.
He's a nice guy too. :)
