Hello fellow steemiters. I am brand new to this whole experience but would like to introduce myself. Last month I was living my dream life in New Zealand, where I had a good job and lovely friends. My world crumbled when I got two pieces of devastating news; that my Grandad had passed away and that my Dad's cancer had come back. I packed up my life and 24 hours later was flying home to the UK. The plane journey which is hard for most people was probably the worst time of my life. Not knowing what I was going to come back to here and what the future would hold. It's been about 3 weeks now and life is hard. I'm struggling to come to terms with the changes whilst having to put on a happy face and have people asking me "Isn't it great to be home?".
This seems like a perfect place to help me to talk about my situation and meet new people and have chats about anything and everything. Wish me luck.
Big love ♥️X

Welcome to Steemit @jesskneale! You'll be glad to know that we're one big happy family here on Steemit. I don't know if it was coincidental, but the title of your post reminded me of a line from the intro to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ;)
Thanks @cerebralace ! It was my intention haha I do love the Fresh Prince!

Sorry for your loss. Cliche as that may sound, my family has lost a lot of people in the last 10 years, including 3 grandparents and my dad so... been there!
Still amazes me how people expect people to" just get over it" when someone they love is gone. Kind of hard not to notice the hole in your life! Especially for those who loose a spouse! But people will be all shocked if years later, the other spouse still feels the loss terribly. I just think to myself, "Um... they didn't loose a dog. They lost their SPOUSE."
Loosing a parent or grandparent is bad enough, though!
Hope you find some positive ways to cope. It's never going to be the same, but life goes on. We just have to try to make the best of what we have left.
