Newbie and Redfish Meetup and SBD Giveaway

Feel like a little fish in a big pond?

Welcome to the weekly meetup just for you.

The purpose of this contest is to meet new people, have exposure for something you created this week, and a chance to win SBD.

Sometimes really cool posts get lost in the flood of posts especially for those of us that are new and don’t have a large following or cannot afford advertising. I would like to give new users a chance to have some of their work viewed by a larger part of the steemit community and also a chance at some SBD both for entering and also commenting. Everyone says comment, comment, comment…

Payouts:

  1. Best post with a #newbieresteemday tag 40% of SBD from this post
  2. Best post by a redfish = 40% of SBD payout from this post
  3. Best comment = 10% of SBD payout from this post ANYONE IS eligible for this award
  4. Redfish interact prize = 10% of SBD payout split up between all redfish that link and comment but don’t win.

--> The prize for this post will start at 1 SBD plus what it listed for rewards. Normally I would bump it but they are closed this week.

To enter the contest:

  1. Post a link to 1 thing you created this week and a quick description about content… the description is not necessary but helps draw people in.
  2. Read a post by at least 2 other contestants and comment on at least one that you really liked or felt motivated to respond to.
  3. To be eligible to win best post you must be a redfish (less than 1000SP)

To win the contest:

The best comment will be decided by myself.
The best post will be awarded based on the number of votes a post receives.
Each comment is worth 1 vote for the post.
Each upvote is worth ½ a vote for a post.

Here is an example:

If we use this example: @danjo1984 would get 4 votes.
.5 from @jysui + .5 from myself for upvotes =1 vote
1 from @ailenepm + 1 from @jysui + 1 from myself for the comments = 3 votes

The fine print...
  1. Contest closes a week from today, the sooner you post the more likely you are to get more votes.
  2. An upvote is not required to join this contest but, as the prize is a % of the SBD payout it is encouraged that you upvote and resteem to increase the prize payout.
  3. Payout will be within 24 hours of this posts expiration and will be announced in a winners post.
  4. I reserve the right to refuse payment and award prize to someone else if you are caught buying votes.

Here is a link to last weeks if you need an idea of how we play.

Please do not add bots that COMMENT to this post as it distracts from what we are doing.

This is one of my regular posts about a book review of one of the romance novels that I currently read. This one is a review of a historical romance novel by New York Times bestselling author, Mary Balogh.

I am not so sure I could sit down and read a 272 page ebook.. What time period was this story set in?

If you are into romance novels, then you can finish it in 1-2days. :) The story is set in during Regency Era in London, around 1811-1837.

Machine man interfaces are exciting to me as they can improve the quality of live of those bound to wheelchairs or that have other neurological/muscle disorders. I have been following Braingate since the early 2000s... The first version wasn't very complex, it could only control a mouse pointer on a 2d grid, but that was enough to be able to interact with computers. Braingate has evolved now to the point where quadriplegics can use an artificial arm to bring beverages to their mouth all by thought... crazy!

I have been following braingate because the chips they are developing could evolve into a way to download consciousness in the future.

Plants has been a stress receiver to me and my family.. Just wanna share my admiration with plants..

My father loves to plant flowers and fruits etc. Its his hobby ever since, we used to have a bonsai too when we still lived in benguet but we left it when we moved, so for me as well plants and planting has been a part of my life :D

The bonsai tree look really nice especially when house is surrounded by bonsai!

yes bonsai are great at home specially indoors..

My husband loves to grow bonsai as well. We have some in the house but not as good as that of your brothers. :)

My recent post on healthy food plus how to guide to choose and preserve avocados! Hope you guys like it! :)

Nice! I do agree that cooking for yourself is much better than buying because its alot cheaper and you can control your own cooking.

Hi @jysui, totally agree! You can control your own portion, own food & healthy ingredient in a meal. Usually, I make overnight oat or salad and sometimes my girlfriend cook me healthy food like chicken breast marinated with turmeric and steam veggie.

I wrote some erotica about a pleasurable day at the spa! Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

I am glad I read that, and I suggest others read it as well.

Good suggestion.

I shared three of of my own paintings and wrote some information about each.

The last one is my favorite. Your camera didn't do any of them justice though, as I know they look even better in person.

Some more really good artwork Nikki!

You say some of those are for sale but you didn't list a price.

This is my post regarding depression hope you guys like it :)

Nice job with this post. There cannot be enough attention spent on depression. If you have never experienced it in your life you are extremely lucky. If you don't know anyone who has gone through a period of depression then you are not paying attention. I like that you give some practical advice for helping a loved one to cope with depression. Simply being there and emotionally available does worlds of good.

Im really glad you like it! It gives me so much joy that you guys give me feedback that im doing a good job, most of the time my posts are unnoticed and it gets discouraging. Thanks again!

I'm glad you chose to do a post about depression and teenagers. It is often something that is either overlooked or ignored, and simply chalked up to 'teenage hormones'. After teaching high school for many years and raising two sons of my own, I have to say that depression is such a serious issue that people need to be made more aware of. For several reasons that don't make sense to me, mental illness is something that people are embarrassed about and in turn don't talk about it, considering themselves weak because they can't just "shake it off". Any mental illness, including clinical depression, is a medical issue deserving medical attention. There's all kinds of sympathy for cancer patients for example, and of course they deserve all of it, but I wish that people with 'mental' issues received the same kind of attention! Thank you again:)

I totally agree that people and even the government think that depression is only a "phase" and don't give much important against it. That's why I thought about making a post out of it. Thank you for appreciating! I'm really glad u liked it

It was my pleasure; it's important information for sure! And I'm glad I 'stumbled' upon you in whatever post that was of @davemccoys! If you haven't joined Discord yet, you should think about it. Here's the link : https://discord.gg/49JKzvp. But I think you did get it from @beeyou there too. Anyway, it's a great place to meet and get to know others!

I did join a few hours ago thank you again!

Thanks for hosting this! Here's my entry explaining 3 great resources that I think are awesome on steemit: @newbieresteemday, @ginabot, and stemworld.org. All 3 can help you here! Enjoy:)

Additionally you have earned an upvote and a reesteem .

It seems you raise some good points but I wonder if I could make the money he does by cursing and and whining.

It wouldn't be worth it to make an ass out of yourself.

Are you sure? Because he is making pretty good money.

You see his newest post? 4 sentences, 310 votes, value of $861.33. Thats bad enough, but it gets worse when you see that the post is talking about #rewardpoolrape

The irony was not lost on me.

So people like this are why others get such low post value?

A large part of it.
