I don't know about you but I'm having a sense of deja vu these days. Recent events are seriously reminding me of the years following 9/11 and leading up to the Iraq war. Hell some of the same people that were advocating for war back then are once again close the centers of power.
I'm not sure what exactly it is about the foreboding tone but there is just something about how the mainstream cable news talking heads are drumming this up in tandem that is ringing alarm bells for me. I've seen this before. The recent attempt by Israel to publicize Iran's now defunct covert nuclear program was a flop but I think they will continue to try and frame Iran as a nuclear threat.
In the years just after 9/11 the thought of open war with Iraq seemed far off when they started talking about it more and more. No they wouldn't do it. Iraq wasn't behind 9/11 they won't divert resources from the Afghan war. They'll figure something out, there are more options. The drums kept drumming and the next thing you know America had invaded Iraq.
It's the same feeling I have now. They won't possibly go to war with Iran will they? No there are other options they can talk their way out of it. They have a deal errr now they had a deal. Maybe they can make a new deal? Wait a minute the state department has been gutted, the President is highly impressionable and surrounded by war hawks. Oh shit, they are going to do this.
What do you think fellow Steemians? Is the USA already headed down a road to war with Iran? I'm going to make a prediction that within two years Donald Trump will order an attack on Iranian forces and kick off a shit show in the middle east. I hope I'm wrong.

I think the US and Iran did a good job in sabotaging Iran, its nuclear efforts and its imperialistic efforts.
However, I think that they erred badly when they overthrew Saddam.
He was not supporting Islamic Terror, opposed Iran and took Iraq for a war against Iran in 1980-1988, and while he used WMDs in the past against Kurd uprisings and against Iran in their wars, I think that he was not a big problem for either the US or Israel.
His fall turned Iraq into a Shi'ite controlled state, a proxy of Iran which is worse for US, Israel and Saudia.
Now the Irani empire spans from its borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan in the east, to the middle east mediterranean shores of Lebanon and Syria in the west.
It also includes a part of Yemen which is continentally separated from the rest.
Iraq is in the midst of it.
A part of the Irani Shi'ite empire.
Is it better than Saddam's rule in Iraq?
I think the Kurds profited most out of this new situation.
They did not cause it, but they did and still do their part in Syria, Iraq and Turkey.
A Kurdish state is a good thing IMO, but Turkey will try its hardest to prevent it, and Iraq, Syria and Iran want to prevent it too.
Only the Kurds themselves, Israel and possibly the US would welcome a Kurdish state.
The Kurds are being used in this, they are not the driver behind it all since they have no strong lobby in the US.
In Iraq they are (or were until ISIS' fall) allied with Iran against DAISh.
In Syria they might have been initially allied with Israel and the US, but now I think they are more allied with Assad's regime against Turkey, which is a bigger threat for them than Assad's regime itself.
In Iran they are very few and know they have no chance there, so they remain dormant.
In Turkey they are the PKK.
Back to Iran, a war against it will not cause Oil prices to spike, but to jump and stay high.
In a case of a war, Iran will probably export only to China and it may be prevented even from doing so.
Iran will also bomb oil wells in a scorched earth effort that will cost a lot.
I wonder how much the despots of Saudia want a war against Iran.
They hate Iran but they also fear the consequences.
They already fight a proxy war against Iran in Yemen and recently lost in Syria after they already lost in Iraq.

Whatever Putin wants 😆
Agree. Irrational hawks in the WH circle jerking themselves. Unless Trump leaves office voluntarily or not. Will be interesting to see how UK, France, Germany, Russia and China play this, as well as what impact it may have on negotiations with North Korea.
I am very concerned that the moment we supposedly make peace on the Korean Peninsula, that we immediately ramp up the pressure on Iran. It's almost as though Trump got his marching orders from somewhere (ahem.."Is"...ahem..."rael"....ahem)--to make sure that we aren't in a 2-front war, and to make sure that we are free to do the bidding of our "best ally."
The Great Game continues. Some of the names have been changed, to benefit the controllers.
Iran want to deal oil for Euro, right ?
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-oil-iran-exclusive-idUSKCN0VE21S
It means less demand for USD, and the USA just can't imagine a world where their currencie is not THE currencie. It's a bit stupid knowing that it means any country with some oil could indirectly control the value of USD. But the USA have the biggest army of the world, so ...
