I don't think there is anything wrong with putting America first. He is the American president after all and it is this country that should be his primary concern. It's just that tariffs are not in the best interest of the U.S. If tariffs are his idea of putting America first then he has a different idea of what that means than I do.

Yes, the thing is that all his ideas (or let's say 90%) don't work or often have the adversial effect. It is not America first to sabotage foreign trade (in the wide sense) especially when the mayority of your businesses rely on it.

Not to mention that it is not good for the future of the US of the president took just one year to be seen by every other country as equivalent to North Korea's Kim. In several aspects, most notably the unreliability.

In international relations reliability is everything. You may still force others to do what you want, but sooner or later they will shake off your shakles.
