Lo and behold, harken to the wise words of the Eternal Greatest: I don't care about other countries!
"America First" is Trump's battle cry, and he certainly does not look at the interest of other countries.
But what he does not realize is that "globalization" happens even if he ignores it.
So The Greatest President of all Times was mightily surprised when a symbol of America - Harley Davidson - reacted as the company had hinted before: It announced that the production of motorbikes for Europe (their second biggest market) would be moved out of the US.
The reason? Tariffs!
Harley Davidson warned before that raising tariffs would hurt. But Trump enacted them anyway, and the EU retaliated exactly as they had announced before.
Harley was hit coming and going, higher import costs for materials and higher selling costs when exporting.
That is known as a trade war (okay, in scale it is more a trade battle). Maybe Trump may learn that word today. But I don't think so, judging by his usual finger pointing.
But maybe he learns, who knows? Until then, let's congratulate President Trump on his work, Yes, Mr. President, this is completely the result of your actions!

I don't think there is anything wrong with putting America first. He is the American president after all and it is this country that should be his primary concern. It's just that tariffs are not in the best interest of the U.S. If tariffs are his idea of putting America first then he has a different idea of what that means than I do.
Yes, the thing is that all his ideas (or let's say 90%) don't work or often have the adversial effect. It is not America first to sabotage foreign trade (in the wide sense) especially when the mayority of your businesses rely on it.
Not to mention that it is not good for the future of the US of the president took just one year to be seen by every other country as equivalent to North Korea's Kim. In several aspects, most notably the unreliability.
In international relations reliability is everything. You may still force others to do what you want, but sooner or later they will shake off your shakles.
Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.
